Everything’s gone to pot this year and I’ve been getting up, dressed and brushing my teeth, end of.

I’ve no longer any idea of what’s normal!

What’s your morning and evening routine and how long does it take?

Bonus points for sharing what time you get up and go to bed. I’m having to start from scratch here!

I brush my hair and that's literally it,CEO about 2 mins. If you factor in showering and teeth brushing etc, then 30 mins, though I'd say more hygiene than grooming.

CherryRoulade · 26/12/2020 10:05

Mug of tea in bed whilst husband runs the dog. Late getting up at the moment as he can’t run in the dark so easily.
Bath or shower. Towel dry hair. Throw some clothes on. Brush hair, face cream. Teeth. About 20 minutes usually.

SlothWithACloth · 26/12/2020 10:07

My hair is very dry and frizzy at the moment so I’m only washing it every third day after I oil it a bit.
Shower and teeth every morning. Hair removal if needed.
Check eyebrows and tweeze if needed.
Moisturise with tinted cream
Takes about 15 mins

Evening floss and clean teeth, hot oil cleanse a couple of times a week.
I try to do this as soon as dc go to bed otherwise it gets late and I can’t be bothered.
I’ve got a foot spa that I do occasionally, ped egg and moisturise when I feel my feet need it.

violetbunny · 26/12/2020 10:14

I take a lot of time, I don't have kids and also like to have quite a bit of me-time in the mornings my brain takes a while to get functioning Blush

Mornings:
5.40am - Get up, feed cats, exercise
6.30am - Shower, wash hair every day, full skincare routine, moisturise all over with body lotion
6.50am - Breakfast, lots of coffee
7.15am - brush teeth
7.20M - Blowdry & straighten hair, get dressed, make lunch for work, play with cats Blush
8am- Makeup
8.30am Leave for work

Evenings:
Brush teeth, full skincare routine (double cleanse, serum, moisturiser etc)

MrsHugsxx · 26/12/2020 10:18

Depends of it's a school day or not. I can bath, dress and do make up in under 30 mins.

Badwill · 26/12/2020 10:20

On a good day I get up at 7:20, shower, teeth, moisturize face, blowdry hair, makeup on and dressed before waking the DC at 7:50 - so it takes a half hour.

On the weekend I usually go for a long walk with the dog first and then get ready.

In the evening I cleanse my face and moisturize/retinol. I do it before I put the DC to bed as they're pottering about, as I find if I wait until I'm going to bed I get too lazy to bother with my face. Then I just have to brush my teeth before going to bed at around 11pm.

I too stopped all effort when my DC were babies but started to get myself back on track a year ago little by little and I feel/look so much better as a result. It's worth taking the time and sets me up for the day and just has a really positive knock on effect.

SagelyNodding · 26/12/2020 10:20

Ooh, it varies wildly! On a work day (teacher) up at 5.45, shower, hairwash, minimal make up (eyes only) and I'm out of the bathroom by 6.20 maximum.
Evenings I do the bare minimum :remove makeup and brush teeth.

Preggo100 · 26/12/2020 10:25

I spend about an hour a day in total.
Get up around 8am - brush hair, style it a little or put it into a low bun
Cleanse, moisturise, tinted moisturiser, mascara and a little bronzer
I brush my teeth after breakfast
I usually have a bath when I finish working (at home) around 4pm when I'll take my make up off and use my toner/serum/moisturiser again
Before I go to bed (at around 10pm) I floss, brush, and moisturise my whole body and bump (I'm pregnant!)
I quite like my routine as it actually feels quite low maintenance to me compared to previously when I was constantly tanning, getting nails done, washing hair etc as my job required lots of face to face meetings and socialising
But I think it's still really important to take care of yourself day to day to feel good

Dowser · 26/12/2020 10:32

I’m quite surprised at people moisturising their bodies.
Are these 100 per cent organic moisturisers
Once I learned about toxic chemicals in them, I stopped using them

Imapotato · 26/12/2020 10:35

My routine as far as I have one is.
Get up,
Clean teeth,
Wash face,
Skin care routine (Lidl £1.99 anti wrinkle cream, works a treat, I’ve been using it for over 10 years and apparently I look 10 years younger than I actually am Grin, don’t all rush out to buy it though, I don’t want them putting the price up! 😂)
Brush and tie up hair.
A bit of mascara if I’m going to work
Done!

I always Shower/bath in the evening as I like to wash off the dirt of the day.

Grellbunt · 26/12/2020 10:37

About ten mins - brush teeth wash face moisturiser mascara hair in ponytail grab clothes.... go!!! Shower in eve or when dp watches toddler or toddler has iPad in bathroom.

Meruem · 26/12/2020 10:38

I’ve been wfh from home for nearly 3 years now and don’t have set start/finish times and no video calls! So my day varies. Up anywhere between 7 and 10. Shower or bath at random points in the day! Only evening thing is tooth brushing as no make up to take off and don’t have a skincare routine. I only wash my hair once a week so that’s a one off job. Rest of the time just brush and stick in a pony tail or bun. Don’t shave anything! For one I’m single and planning to stay that way and for two, now I’m older (50) don’t have that much hair growth anyway, oh and I never get my legs out!

I’m a bit of a slattern with grooming I guess! But for me personally, “self care” is about taking care of my mental and physical health and that for me isn’t achieved by say painting my nails. It’s more about trying to eat well, taking time out for me, etc. Appreciate it will mean different things to different people.

starfishmummy · 26/12/2020 10:40

Shower, teeth, face. Occasionally I brusb my hair.

However rhis is normal and nothing to do with "this year"

Sapphire387 · 26/12/2020 10:44

Twenty minutes or so each morning? Shower, brush teeth. I just use a face serum instead of moisturiser- works better with my oily, sensitive skin. Makeup takes a couple of mins - mineral powder and a bit of eyeliner and mascara. I brush my hair but I don't really style it.

DappledThings · 26/12/2020 10:56

Not a lot. I don't dry my hair, wear make-up, moisturise, use body lotion or do anything to my face other than wash it in the shower in the morning. I put lenses in most days so that takes another 2 minutes or so.

whoamongstus · 26/12/2020 11:06

Morning: wash face, brush teeth, brush hair, skincare routine (niacinamide, SPF moisturiser), makeup, dressed. About 10-15 minutes.

Evening: shower (if it's a bath, I'm shaving legs or washing hair about once a week, then this takes 20 min, otherwise 5 max), skincare routine (vit C or retinol, serum, moisturiser, oil), moisturise my hands and chest when I remember, brush teeth, pyjamas on, take medication, drink a pint of water so I'm not waking up dehydrated at 3am. Either 15 or 35 minutes depending on how long the washing bit is.

Once every few weeks I do my nails (I do my own gels at home) which takes about an hour and I do it in front of a film or something, so I love that time! Once every 8 weeks or so I wax my eyebrows at home, and once every blue moon I remember to do my at home IPL (laser thing) on my legs/bikini line/chin, but that really is just if I remember haha.

Timeturnerplease · 26/12/2020 11:08

I have a two year old, so DP and I each get 20 minutes peace each in the mornings to get ready. He showers and does whatever men do in the loo that takes hours. I spend ten minutes doing teeth/face/hair/clothes and then read my book for 10 minutes. Bliss.

sanityisamyth · 26/12/2020 11:12

About 5 mins. Teeth, wash, spray and go! Sometimes I brush my hair ...

Tehmina23 · 26/12/2020 11:13

45 mins to hour & a quarter....

Quick Shower, wash hair alternative days, clean teeth, body lotion & get dressed.
face serum & moisturiser.
Primer, bb cream & other makeup.
Dry hair & or style.

Tehmina23 · 26/12/2020 11:14

Oh yes obviously put on deodorant too!!

DishedUp · 26/12/2020 11:14

I get up at 6am shower, brush teeth and do skincare - 2 serums, an spf and a moisturiser

Then makeup which atm is less than before but takes about 10 mins. Eye makeup, foundation, powder, setting spray and eyebrows

I wash my hair in the evenings and normally blow dry it and it doesnt need much styling but maybe straighten it if its looking frizzy

Get dressed, breakfast, make my lunch leave at 6.45. So it takes me about 45 mins to get ready including breakfast shower and teeth

Floralnomad · 26/12/2020 11:16

@sanityisamyth

This exactly , except I never brush my hair . No make up or skin routine here night or morning and I shower at night.
