I’m in a panic I can’t find my car keys

I’m in a right state I can’t think straight. I’ve lost my car keys, I’ve looked everywhere I can think of. I last used them last night and my car is locked so they can’t be in the car.
I just don’t know what to do- what would you do? I don’t seem to have a spare set 😟

Do you have children that might have moved them?

Deep breath. Where do you normally leave them? Could they have fallen from there, re check slowly all the obvious places. Retrace what you did when you came in with them. (Can you tell I often lose keys?)

Have you checked outside around your front door / garden path - i.e. could they have fallen out of your pocket when unlocking the door when you came home last night?

In a larder/drawer /cupboard whilst putting stuff away?

Did you wear a top / hoodie / trousers that you don't usually wear? Did you unpack any shopping? Anything go in the pantry?

Order a Chipolo. I have one each for all my keys and my debit card. Not helpful now, but they’ve changed my life in terms of time searching!

Check your purse lining/coat pocket lining. Happened to me once and I didn’t realize there was a tear, keys managed to find there way through the hole.

Right did you use them to unlock your front door? Not still in the lock? In your coat pocket? In the fridge when you made a cup of tea straight after coming in?
As someone else said, in the bin (mine were once, not a pleasant task).
Fallen off the shelf on a radiator?

Stop and get a cup of tea and take a deep breath or three. And then start looking. When you are panicked you aren’t going to be methodical and could even miss seeing them because you get tunnel vision.

I’m a doctor and when in really stressful situation at work it is always best to pause, take a deep breath and then start with the task ahead!

Check your purse lining/coat pocket lining. Happened to me once and I didn’t realize there was a tear, keys managed to find there way through the hole.

Check the door on the outside for a start. Lost count of the times I've done that. Hmm

Also did you wear a coat and may have put them in the pocket? 9 times out of 10 I put my keys back in my handbag but if I've rushed in with loads of bags I might slip them in my coat pocket and then forget about it.

They're surely in an item of clothing.

When this happened to me I found them in one of the boots I had been wearing last time I went out. Might be worth a check even though quite a random place!

I couldn't find mine this morning. Turned out they were hiding in a sellotape ring on the dresser. Could you have put it 'in' something similar?

My SIL lost hers and eventually located them, after hours of turning house upside down, inside the ‘bag of plastic bags’ under her sink - worth a check there, if you have such a thing!

I lost mine today, while locked out of the house. I had chucked them in the basket in the porch when I chucked the dog lead and harness in. I've chucked them in the bin with the rubbish before too.

I lost mine the other day. I found them in my bedroom drawer! I would never normally put them there Confused.

Last time DH lost his he had hung them up under the dog lead.

Can you remember what you carried into the house? Possibly you put the keys with them
