Settle a debate between me and DH. The song ‘We wish you a merry Christmas’ are the lyrics

Or

1. Good tidings we bring to you and your kin

Kin. There is no debate. Those are the words, as generations of carol books, sheet music, recordings by professional musicians and choirs etc will confirm, however much anyone might stubbornly claim to doubt Google.

What about whether it's "tiding" (option 1) or "tidings" (option 2)?
