Settle a debate between me and DH. The song ‘We wish you a merry Christmas’ are the lyrics

  1. Good tiding we bring to you and your king
Or
  1. Good tidings we bring to you and your kin

I always thought it was King, but this thread suggests I’m wrong!

LisaLee333 · 20/12/2020 23:41

How many times do you reckon 'lyrics to we wish you a merry Christmas' will be googled by mumsnet users after seeing this thread? 😂

And then they'll be like 'errr yeah of COURSE it's 'kin.' Grin Knew it all along. Grin

Brighterthansunflowers · 20/12/2020 23:43

Kin! (Family, rather than our non-existent male monarch, unless they meant King David but I don’t think they were singing carols back then!)

JayAlfredPrufrock · 20/12/2020 23:45

I know it's 2 (kin) but I still like to sing it as king occasionally!

quizqueen · 20/12/2020 23:57

Why didn't you just google it! No need for a debate.

Averyshinynose · 20/12/2020 23:57

It’s kin, but I always thought it was king and always sung that as a child and all the kids in my class always seem to too, even when corrected by the music teacher 🤷🏻‍♀️
