To think it's a little sad to pay someone to decorate your Christmas tree

and house for Christmas?

A colleague of DH's was telling everyone how they pay a company to 'Christmas' their house including buying and decorating the tree and buying and wrapping all the presents. The kids come home from school to find it's all done.

I know everyone does things differently but that would take all the fun out of it for me.

It's only what a lot of menfolk do anyway, outsource it all to their wife...

KatieGGGG · 19/12/2020 13:44

I didn’t know this was a thing. I despise decorating, love decorations. I love this idea Grin

AppleKatie · 19/12/2020 13:45

Sounds like a great idea 😅

LightDrizzle · 19/12/2020 13:46

I agree but not with a lot of passion.
I can see the wrapping service being a godsend to people with hectic lives and many people to buy for, but decorating the house for me is part of Christmas; carols playing, snowballs - lovely!

VinylDetective · 19/12/2020 13:46

I’d have done it in a heartbeat in the days when I worked full time, cared for my elderly parents and ran their house and mine. The whole thing was an unnecessary chore.

GintyMcGinty · 19/12/2020 13:47

Is there a website?. How much?

Bluebaubles · 19/12/2020 13:48

I’d pay £500 for someone to come and do mine right now

I think that if you have money, you should use it to make your life easy and fun.

I have a massive tree and have stupidly bought lots of awkwardly shaped presents and no boxes to put them in. There have been moments this year where I would have gladly paid someone to do it all for me!

Zenithbear · 19/12/2020 13:49

Margo Ledbetter from the Good life had Christmas delivered in a van.

Madbengalmum · 19/12/2020 13:50

I know a family that has a company in, it cost ££££’s and if i am honest it looks to me very corporate and all a-bit naff, not great and i can think of far better to spend my money on. I think it is part of Christmas to get out your collection of baubles from over the years.

Bluntness100 · 19/12/2020 13:51

God yes, I’d do this! Love the idea totally. I’m just too tight!

nokidshere · 19/12/2020 13:52

There have been times when I would have gladly paid someone else to do it for me

Aprilx · 19/12/2020 13:53

I quite like the idea.

ButtonMeUpButtercup · 19/12/2020 13:55

If I had tons of money I'd do this provided they came and took it all down again after Christmas.
I'm not creative and my decorations always look sloppy.

FlyingByTheSeatof · 19/12/2020 13:55

I'd definitely pay for this

DuckyMcDuck · 19/12/2020 13:55

Looks like I'm in a definite minority Grin

Scuttles off to write up a business plan Wink

I pay a company to do this. They also do all our Christmas shopping including food (I let them know what to buy).

Dh and I both work full time. I have a big family and paying someone to Christmas our house means instead of running around frantically trying to get everything done I have more time to spend with my dc. How is that sad?

NastyBlouse · 19/12/2020 13:57

We did this a few times, at a point in time when we were richer than we are at the moment. It was rather good, the interiors people always knew what they were doing and it all got professionally packed away at the end too. (Taking the Christmas decs down is one of the year’s worst jobs.)

I don’t think it’s sad but if you do, don’t do it 🤷

FizzyPink · 19/12/2020 13:57

I love decorations but don’t have a creative bone in my body and anything I attempt looks naff.
I’d still like to do the present buying myself but would love for someone to come and decorate. Similar to Mr Christmas on Netflix would be fabulous

FizzyPink · 19/12/2020 13:58

Out of interest @NastyBlouse how much did you pay for it? And do they let you choose things like colour schemes?

lockeddownandcrazy · 19/12/2020 13:59

I wouldnt want them to buy the presents unless I had a very specific list but the rest sounds great - as long as they come back after and take it all down.

Bluntness100 · 19/12/2020 13:59

Oh and if they came and took it back down? What a result!

Drivingho · 19/12/2020 14:00

I love the idea of decorating the tree but the reality is always less fun than I imagine!
I’ve learned to lower my expectations of how it will look and just Chuck things on haphazard. As long as there are plenty of lights it looks ok!

Nicolastuffedone · 19/12/2020 14:01

I’d love this!!!
