To think it's a little sad to pay someone to decorate your Christmas tree

and house for Christmas?

A colleague of DH's was telling everyone how they pay a company to 'Christmas' their house including buying and decorating the tree and buying and wrapping all the presents. The kids come home from school to find it's all done.

I know everyone does things differently but that would take all the fun out of it for me.

I'd pay someone to take it all down and put it all away!

I'd feel like the queen walking in to see my house professionally decorated and cleaned.
My 1-10 happy meter would be a 12. Grin
If she can afford it without financially hurting herself then why not?

@ChocolateSantaisthebestkind

My husband works in an industry which deals with 'ultra high net worth' people and this is really common. Some have houses decorated that they won't even be in over the period to keep up with the Joneses. He often says that the way they live all aspects of life is incomprehensible to many 'normal' people.
See, decorating a house you arent in SOUNDS like madness. But in a way it is community spirited - everyone else gets to see the christmas lights in the windows. It is much better than a street with dead looking undecorated houses because all the owners are in one of their other 3 homes for christmas. So I cant get annoyed about this. Nut I do love christmas and christmas decorations, and christmas lights and everythign so am biased. Also - I am now pondereing an alternative career as christmas decorator.

Gosh, it's not for me! Decorating the tree is definitely one of my favourite parts of Christmas. 🎄🎄🎄

I even love wrapping Christmas presents! I have time though so fair play to others who would rather pay to have it all done for them.

I went out today for A traditional sibling Christmas lunch.
When I got back my mum and niece and son had finished my Christmas decorations
I cannot tell you how good it feels. It was hanging over me like a death sentence.
I gave her a tenner!!

For the people saying they’d like this service - try looking on taskrabbit if you have it in your area, you’ll be able to find somebody to put up decks/take down/wrap presents etc. We used them last year (one adult with a broken arm, one with chronic health issues, two young kids!) totally worth it.

I can see why people do this.

Our traditions are thus. DH puts lights up in the window after wrestling with them for half an hour. The tree goes up it’s a beautiful fake tree that’s a tiny bit broken so needs to be braced in a Heath Robinson kind of way involving bamboo and string, it can’t be seen when done. We have tried to buy a new tree but not found one we like as much. I drape material around the base artfully and think I really need to make a tree skirt then promptly forget till I artfully drape material round the base next year, DH then puts the lights on, at this point the cat often runs up the tree. Yowls a lot and doesn’t want to get down. We all then put on the decorations. After everyone has gone to bed I do some minor rearranging. When I get up in the morning the cat has also done some minor rearranging.

We bought a long take greenery swag this year to put in the porch DH accused me of vajazzaling it as I went a bit over board with beading, It fell off overnight as so heavy so is now wound through the bannisters.

I don't think it's sad if they're happy to do it and aren't being somehow forced into it. Each to their own.
