From my reading* it's more a symbolic trifecta than a practical one. It allows appointments to go through, but apparently a lot of protocols need a 60/40 split in the Senate to go through. (Clearly they need a Brexit education in democracy. I suggest we export Farage to tell them they're doing it wrong).

Jake on CNN is saying both houses will reject the objections; anyone feel there is any risk that any of these objections will be carried?

Joint session now paused to debate Arizona results for 2 hours! It will happen again when they get to "G" and "P" - hope they've all brought some sandwiches with them.

2 hours for the debates, by separate chambers, then the votes - this could be a long night.

Arizona election results were certified by GOP governor, GOP attorney general & GOP Chief Justice of state Supreme Court. GOP legislature accepted results. Contesting the electoral votes is an absolutely pathetic attack on democracy

I really struggle to imagine what it is like to be inside the head of person who would object to democrats either protesting in DC or raising spurious objections to confirmations (and tell them they need to accept the result) but are happy with both those things when they lose.

I try and practice empathy but I just can't understand how you have such lack of self awareness.

But then I also can't comprehend Remain supporters who point put every time a politician has changed opinion (towards Brexit) over the past 4 years implying no politician should change their .one but would be happy for someone to change their mind the other way. It doesn't work like that! If people can decide to support your viewpoint they can also decide to stop supporting it (well, that rant went a bit off tangent...)

How many states? All the ones that Biden has won?
