That’s so true. I think for the coup to have had a chance of succeeding they would have needed McConnell on side. And he isn’t.

I also suspect that some Republican senators (especially Cruz) are saying what Trump wants to hear, knowing that he can’t succeed but with an eye to 2024. If they’re not seen by Trump’s fanatical supporters to have betrayed him, then they’ll have a better chance of winning them over in the primaries and become the official Presidential candidate for the Republican Party.

If Trump ends up in Scotland, or somewhere else in the UK, and an international arrest warrant (or whatever is called) is issued, in which Embassy do you think he would find shelter?
Obviously Russia.

If he rocked up in the UK, then it would just be a straightforward US request for extradition under the UK-US treaty.

I hope Anne Sacoolas has made herself very untraceable.

Of course another thing to factor in, is that quite aside from legal problems, Trump knows how his own side - Republicans - will treat him the moment they decide he is of fuck all use to them. Which certainly explains his desperation. It's all very well weaselling your way to become alpha male of a pack. Right up until you're a burden.

Exactly the way he has treated people who outlived their usefulness to him when he was in the ascendant.

The old adage about being nice to people on the way up is ever true.

If he won, I could see McConnell either rolling over completely, or being removed. One way or another. I see him as Rohm to Trumps Hitler.

Anyone who has read a little history wouldn't be surprised at this.

I don't blame them!

Their company name has been dragged through the mud for no reason and their staff are receiving death threats.

The company is 18 years old. It has sent 'cease and desist' letters to Fox, OANN and Powell but that hasn't stopped the slurs about their company. So they are filing lawsuits for defamation, firstly to Sidney Powell who is filling Trump's head with lies about Domininion machines.

I think we can be grateful that there are Republicans who are decent and below in their democracy. There are a few that really can't be bought, like Romney. And we can also be grateful that the State Governors and election officials (and the courts) have stood firm.

It was also reassuring to hear all those men who had been Secretaries of Sate for Defence speaking up and reminding the military that their first duty is to the Constitution.

He's urging people to get out and vote, not self-suppress their vote, not create a self-fulling prophecy that elections don't matter.

He's a Republican; his urging is likely to benefit the Republican candidates; and I support him doing this 100%. It's the only way to actually have a democracy.

The can sue him in office. We already know that "being POTUS" is no defence in law - civil or criminal.

I still can't help but feel Donnie is going to try and create a new defence in law: "I'm still President". Effectively daring the powers that be to go after him.

It's certainly a matter for scholarly debate (so of little interest to his supporters) as to whether it's possible he could never receive a fair jury trial in the US. Although I am aware there are millions of Americans who might feel no one can get a fair jury trial in the US.

How many stories have we read of morons who don't think covid is real and who are now pushing up daisies ?

If it wasn't for the fact that I know there were already a load of fucking idiots out there, I'd be suggesting that Covid does affect the intelligence. But stupid is as stupid does.

I'm going to zoom with my American ILs tonight. They live in GA, one (at least) is a republican. Will be interesting to hear if he's an Trumpublican or an actual Republican though. I hope the latter!
