Do you ‘hate follow’ anyone?

Hate is a strong word but hopefully some will know what I mean. Grin

Do you have people on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter who you find intensely annoying but somehow you can’t help but look at their posts and wind yourself up/eye roll?

+1 to a bit of Trumps deluded twitter rantings

lollipoprainbow · 15/12/2020 07:20

@yearinyearout wonder if it's the lady I follow ! She is a total liar too always supposed to be moving to Spain, Denmark, a boat!!, Wales but it never happens.

SimonJT · 15/12/2020 07:21

Yes, Joe Exotic on instagram, its an absolute car crash (even more so with the pardon Joe bullshit), but I can’t stop looking.

bellinisurge · 15/12/2020 07:34

Mermaids. Fucking bastards.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 15/12/2020 07:35

Does reading the Daily Fail count?

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 15/12/2020 07:38

I used to, almost unconsciously, but realised it's just giving annoying people an audience.

Eg I have a distant relation who is very into her exercise etc but also quite showy offy about her body - posting pictures of herself a few days post partum, semi naked with her hair done showing her tummy having miraculously popped back flat again etc. Of course she gets a sea of "so gorgeous hun" comments which will be exactly what she wanted..... so I just unfollowed.

ImRealHonest · 15/12/2020 07:39

Absolutely.

Two old school friends on FB - proper attention seeking huns. I love watching the drama.

IHaveBrilloHair · 15/12/2020 07:40

I also used to know someone on another site I use who said she wanted to live on a boat but then she'd forget and it and ramble on about all sorts of clearly made up crap.
Constantly seemed to remember things that had happened even though it was quite obvious they hadn't.
Scotland and The Lakes were also favourite places to make up stories about.
Very odd.

lollipoprainbow · 15/12/2020 08:07

The lady I follow posts pictures of the elf on the shelf daily and all the amazing things she has done with him far too much time on her hands clearly!

PolarnOPirate · 15/12/2020 08:09

No it would be really unhealthy for me (personally) to do this.

Passmeabottlemrjones · 15/12/2020 08:12

I don't follow him, because I only follow one account on Twitter, but I am always looking up Owen Jones's twitter to see what his latest gripe is and who his latest pile on victim is.

WhyNotMeThough · 15/12/2020 08:14

I've joined and left Twitter 3 times, it's just too annoying and hate filled.

Passmeabottlemrjones · 15/12/2020 08:16

There was also a woman in a niche 'online community' that I was in who was hilariously awful, aired her dirty laundry on Instagram Stories all the time, got into spats with people a lot, always a drama, it was fascinating - I used to get excited every time I saw her stories icon come up (which was a lot!). She has stopped posting now and my life is poorer for it Grin

Signaturesoftheworkers · 15/12/2020 09:34

A friend who spends her whole life posting selfies, she's 44 fgs not 16. She's absolutely lovely in RL and going through a really hard time so can't unfriend her but god it's annoying.

Grendalsmum · 15/12/2020 20:55

Same here with woffley click-bait mate ... She's a thoroughly good egg and we've been friends since we were at uni but she has this alternative on-line life of stating the bleeding obvious at extreme length - it would be way better if she was insisting the Queen was a lizard or that birds were imaginary or the moon was really banana-shaped or something ... I can't unfollow her though, it's a horrible fascination!

orchidsonabudget · 15/12/2020 21:03

My hate follower left Facebook - I feel a bit sad I can't follow her stealth boasting any more

alphabetsoup1980 · 15/12/2020 21:11

Had to check this out 😂😂 their little sponsorship videos 😂😂

Are you God? Peter Hitchens doesn't follow anyone on Twitter Grin
Lludmilla · 15/12/2020 21:49

Not hate, but I am guilty of indulging in 'disdain viewing' from time to time. Examples:

My DH's ex friended me. I accepted initially so as not to seem like a bitch (after past acrimony) but I have to admit seeing her feed has confirmed every feeling I've ever had about how nauseatingly halo-polish-y she is. Highly ironic given her piss-poor parenting of her DC, which has resulted in problems they have carried into adulthood.

A couple of former friends: I should have unfriended them really after they turned their backs on me when my father was dying, but these days I seem to have a morbid (and, I realise, quite pathetic) fascination with reading their feeds and realising that actually they were shit friends all along and I should have realised it way sooner.

I'm not saying any of this is big or clever. All I'm saying is there are reasons why I find myself somewhat drawn to seeing things proven about these people which, had I trusted my gut, I'd have known all along.

HappyDays10101 · 15/12/2020 21:55

I'm kind of like this with the daily mail. Can't stand it, but can't look away.
