Do you ‘hate follow’ anyone?

Hate is a strong word but hopefully some will know what I mean. Grin

Do you have people on Facebook/Instagram/Twitter who you find intensely annoying but somehow you can’t help but look at their posts and wind yourself up/eye roll?

OP posts:
@Sparklingbrook Totally agree - bit of a snore fest at the minute. She’s obviously under contract as it’s a limited set of brands she pushes now. Can’t remember the last time she got her “Dave” out
The morning routine is the same every morning. I watched today and it could have been yesterday's or the day before's. Grin Mr H seems to be getting in on it all much more. It is fascinating though.

VerlynWebbe · 14/12/2020 20:50

I’ve blocked some truly damaging and dishonest people on insta precisely so I can’t hate-follow them or even have a nose. There are some right fookin weirdos pretending they’re influencers.

LividLaughingLove · 14/12/2020 20:56

Oh god yes.
At the moment it’s one of those #KBF anti-maskers on Twitter. Don’t even know how I ended up following her but I keep her, and the hundreds of adoring commenters she has, as a reminder why I probably shouldn’t go anywhere where there are “people” and assume they’re all generally okay.

FangsForTheMemory · 14/12/2020 20:58

Good grief, no. I CBA with horrible people. No wonder social media gets such a bad reputation if people are following accounts they don't like.

BillyGroatsChuff · 14/12/2020 20:58

My friends stbex. It's complete car crash drama and washing of dirty washing all over SM. He embarrasses himself on a daily basis spouting his shit but I can't press the unfollow button!

Grendalsmum · 14/12/2020 21:05

Yes - l've got a mate who is totally normal in real life but posts great woffley essays under every bit of pointless click bait going. When they bob up on my feed l can't resist reading even though they always make me wonder why we're friends! It's like picking a spot - you know it's a bad idea but you're still going to do it ...

EloiseTheFirst · 14/12/2020 21:26

I follow The Flat Earth Society and The Pope on Twitter for ironic reasons.

I only have proper friends on Facebook though.

FireUnderpants · 14/12/2020 21:35

Yes. I unfriended then on Facebook, but dh is friends with them so I look on his phone. I have no idea why I do it.

The post that pushed me over the edge to delete was a whole album of the dc holding up each and every present they received last Christmas. Even bad photos with eyes shut/odd faces pulled. Didn’t matter because she needs to show all the games that came with this console. (She only got 2 likes)

sheworkshardforthemoney · 14/12/2020 21:35

Yes, a covid conspiracy theorist and mask refuser who's family run hospitality business I used to work for. They are all nasty selfish humans and I regularly flag her posts!

Gives me a good insight into how some Trump/ Boris/ brexiteer/ pizzagate/ covid conspiracy theorist people think and behave.

Good to understand how the other half think if only to know what you're up against

whatshalliget · 14/12/2020 21:42

Every so often I'll look at David Cameron's twitter and enjoy everyone responding to everything he posts having a go at him about holding the referendum and stuffing up the country.

@PeppermintSoda I had no idea this happened. Am heading to David Cameron’s Twitter feed right now.

Katie Price and Donald Trump. She lives near me and he's a knob.

Bluntness100 · 14/12/2020 21:52

No, I didn’t even know peoooe did this. If I find someone irritating or boring I just unfollow. Life’s too short to be looking at annoying crap.

paiop · 14/12/2020 21:54

"Totally agree - bit of a snore fest at the minute. She’s obviously under contract as it’s a limited set of brands she pushes now. Can’t remember the last time she got her “Dave” out"

I just had to Google Mrs Hinch's Dave. I was just checking that you weren't referring to her vibrator. I thought there may be another side to that Mrs Hinch group than I had otherwise thought

lollipoprainbow · 14/12/2020 21:58

Absolutely ! A lady I vaguely know when she made some craft bits for me a while ago. She is the biggest show off about everything, always has to talk about her wonderful partner, her Porsche, her amazing Christmas tree etc etc.

Cam77 · 14/12/2020 21:59

I wish there was a function whereby people who you literally never engage with on FB would be automatically removed. “Unfriending” seems such a petty and aggressive act but there are a couple of people who I used to like enough to have friended them but now I wish would fuck off.

Dave35 · 14/12/2020 21:59

@PassataQueenofBritain I agree, unfortunately this is what most people use social media for

Mayorquimby2 · 14/12/2020 21:59

Richard keys - such a bitter little man pretending he's always having the last laugh

Loads of maga cunts too

Ohtherewearethen · 14/12/2020 22:04

Yes, there's a fundamental 'Christian' family in America with 19 children, who are now growing up and having their own children. They have to be seen to be believed. Hateful bigots who pretend to be wholesome but are actually every kind of '-ist'. Their show got cancelled because their eldest son is a sex pest and they covered for him.

Mybedislisting · 14/12/2020 22:33

@paiop That would certainly liven up Mrs Hinch’s posts! Grin

VienneseWhirligig · 14/12/2020 22:48

@Mayorquimby2 When Richard Keys used to do football commentary on the telly (before he was sacked) he had such a huge ego. I work for a football club and was doing security on the players tunnel at the end of the match. Nobody was allowed down there for 30 minutes after the game. RK trotted up and expected to use it as a short cut to the media centre. I refused him entry and he said 'don't you know who I am?' - I didn't think people actually said that in real life. I told him I didn't care if he was the Queen, he wasn't going down the tunnel and had to walk the long way round. He complained about me and my boss backed me up, was most satisfying.

longwayoff · 14/12/2020 22:48

You're a stalker? Find something nicer to do. You will feel a lot better about all kinds of things.

MrDarcysMa · 14/12/2020 22:50

@ScalpHelp

Another term for this would be mental illness to be frank. You're essentially their biggest fan! Doing nothing but annoying yourself whilst getting their engagement up!

Imagine being proud of doing this🤮

@ScalpHelp not necessarily true. Likes, shares and saves are what they all need. Not just views.
BadTattoosAndSmellLikeBooze · 14/12/2020 22:56

I don’t. But I do watch some you tubers that I know I don’t agree with and then talk about that with my partner. 🤣
Just the people that I think are exploiting their kids. They are ones that vlog a lot and I probably only watch them every few months and it just makes me feel angry so I’m better not watching. I just feel sorry for the kids, the parents are so caught up in being youtubers that they can’t see the issues that may come from it for their kids.

I don’t have Facebook or insta but I do have twitter. I only follow people I like on there.
