To dress up on Christmas Day?

tallastrees · 14/12/2020 18:22

I'm usually jeans and a jumper person but given I haven't worn anything that doesn't have an elasticated waist and no make up for nine months, I think I may dress up a bit this year. Maybe even straighten my hair 🙊

How will you dress yourself on Christmas Day this year?

Pyjamas all day? Leggings and a baggy jumper? Or dress to the nines?

Something soft and casual.
Elastic waist.
No pjs and no christmas jumper- gets hot and scratchy in a warm kitschn.

VenusClapTrap · 14/12/2020 18:24

I will definitely dress up. I am also usually a scruffy bugger, so I like to put on something smart on Christmas Day. I’m not talking black tie smart, but a velvet skirt and dressy top probably.

IdblowJonSnow · 14/12/2020 18:27

I dress up but wont be anything tight around the middle!

Furrybootsyecomfy · 14/12/2020 18:28

I always wear my “best” on Christmas Day. It’s usually on for the length of Christmas Dinner and replaced by pyjamas as soon as the cheese course is over.

Sarahandduck18 · 14/12/2020 18:28

We all dress up as if we are going to a nice restaurant- I wore a silk dress one year and it was lovely!

It’s even more needed this year when there’s been nothing to dress up for/no nights out.

Anything shiny/sparkly/glittery will do!

PleasantVille · 14/12/2020 18:32

Where does the unreasonable-ness come in? Assuming no unusual factors can't you wear what ever you choose?

Parker231 · 14/12/2020 18:35

We’re a PJ’s (not matching) household. Usually three generations. Have a shower, clean PJ’s, no make up, slippers on, comfy and relaxed day.

Bluntness100 · 14/12/2020 18:39

I’ll wash ans style my hair, put make up on, and then don some nice jeans and top.

nosswith · 14/12/2020 18:52

Same as every year, about the same as I have been doing since wfh.

(I am a man). The one thing I will never do is sit about in pyjamas and a dressing gown. Unless ill.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 14/12/2020 18:53

I normally wear a loose dress, don't usually bother with make up or hair though

mynameiscalypso · 14/12/2020 18:57

I have bought a faux leather skirt with an elasticated waist. I am hoping that it will look both chic (ha!) but also hide the lockdown weight gain and allow for a suitable level of consumption on Christmas Day.

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 14/12/2020 19:08

Dressing up. Why not? Just another day if you don’t make a bit of effort. I would never wear pj’s for dinner, it just seems really odd.

MagnoliaXYZ · 14/12/2020 19:10

I'll definitely dress up for Christmas day, a nice dress, heels and I may even do my hair and make-up.

afrikat · 14/12/2020 19:12

I will be full on glam. Curled hair, full make up, out-out dress (but its stretchy so is comfy). Paired with slippers tho. I love getting dressed up and we have weekly 'date nights' where I do same

Haggisfish · 14/12/2020 19:13

Oooh I dress up too.

Diva66 · 14/12/2020 19:13

Jeggings and a new tunic top. This will be the first Christmas I haven’t bought a new dress for the usual Christmas parties. My extended family are planning to have our ‘2020 Christmas Party’ in the summer, probably at an outdoor venue.

WoolieLiberal · 14/12/2020 19:17

When not at work I’m more of a jeans and jumper type but I’ll make a bit of effort on Christmas Day. It’s also the only day of the year DH will wear a tie and jacket (if we’re visiting others) outside of work!

LovingCountryLife · 14/12/2020 19:19

Hell yes! I have a gorgeous grey full length taffeta skirt that I haven't worn before and just ordered a gorgeous cream sweater to go with it. Everyone else will dress up too including all the dogs. I cannot even bare thinking about sitting down for Christmas lunch with the table looking beautiful, and me sat there in my PJs Confused

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 14/12/2020 19:22

I live in jeans when not at work and Christmas Day will be no different! I usually put on a red or sparkly jumper though!

RedLimoncello · 14/12/2020 19:22

Dressing up here too. Any excuse plus it was always a tradition when I was growing up. Mum would take us into town to pick out a Christmas outfit. New shoes and all to be worn for Christmas mass (which was the only day of the year we ever actually attended unless my granny was visitingBlush)

JorisBonson · 14/12/2020 19:23

I bought a ridiculous vintage dress that makes me look like an elf. I shall wear it with pride.

thetaleunfolds · 14/12/2020 19:23

I'm definitely dressing up! I don't even care that it's just me and a toddler haha

We always had new dresses to wear at Christmas when I was growing up, and then it just naturally moved to comfy clothes.

user1487194234 · 14/12/2020 19:24

Dress up,I always do on Christmas Day

Anoisagusaris · 14/12/2020 19:24

I think it’s very strange to wear pjs all day.

Plsv87 · 14/12/2020 19:25

I've bought a lovely new (stretchy, empire line) maxi dress for the occassion! X
