To dress up on Christmas Day?

I'm usually jeans and a jumper person but given I haven't worn anything that doesn't have an elasticated waist and no make up for nine months, I think I may dress up a bit this year. Maybe even straighten my hair 🙊

How will you dress yourself on Christmas Day this year?

Pyjamas all day? Leggings and a baggy jumper? Or dress to the nines?

Why - it’s our favourite relaxing clothes and this year we’re desperate for a lazy day. Dinner has been ordered from Cook so we can have an minimum effort meal.

I put on makeup for the photos... since one year my dh took my picture, I was in the background of a lovely pic of the kids opening gifts.... and I have never in my life seen anything as grim... so now I make sure to get dressed and do my makeup before I even go downstairs on Christmas day lol... I dont want to have to throw any nice pics of my kids away because I'm in the background looking like an elderly corpse that had a very hard death

We dress up "smart casual". I'll wear a new dress I bought. Men usually wear jeans, dress shirt and chrismassy tie. Kids wear whatever they want.

pinkdragons · 14/12/2020 19:28

Jeans and a Christmas jumper. I'm always cold.

goose1964 · 14/12/2020 19:28

I have a velvet t shirt dress ( a short sleeve version of my pulling dress back in the day) so I'll wear that.

@Unicant
Grinenjoyed your description

Always dress up for Xmas day. We don't have many opportunities to dress up, especially not this year so it's nice to.

isawthat · 14/12/2020 19:31

I will be wearing some form of Christmas loungewear

BiscuitDrama · 14/12/2020 19:34

We need a walk or we all go mad (well some of us), so I can’t stay in pjs. I have bought myself a sparkly jumper and plan to put some makeup on.

Superstardjs · 14/12/2020 19:37

I haven't dressed up for Christmas Day since about 1984. As pp said, cannot loll around in pjs either unless ill. So shower, normal clothes, normal hair. It's only a big roast dinner, I see no need to make an effort on the clothes front. However, if you want to, go for it :)

Flowersarequitenice · 14/12/2020 19:41

I normally end up in a vest top as it's just too warm otherwise. Not pjs though - I'm not ill. Also will run and do a dog walk so need to get a bit dressed.

Wouldn't wear a sparkly dress as it feels wrong without high heels.

I like wearing something nice (often a dress so that jeans aren’t digging in when I eat a lot) however DH very much likes to be comfortable in trackies so we each do our own thing

CheshireDing · 14/12/2020 19:47

This thread has inspired me.

I am also thinking Unicant has seen me in pictures previously 😂 I do not photograph well !

I may pull out a sparkly top for Christmas Day, maybe I will even whiten my teeth 🦷

VestaTilley · 14/12/2020 19:47

Dress up here! We always do though.

We wear smart clothes for church and keep them on all day. Not black tie or anything Grin just dress, tights and a bit of makeup for me, and chinos, nice shirt/jumper and jacket (at church, not home!) for DH.

Have got DS (20 months) a very cute cord trousers/shirt and bow tie ensemble from M&S Xmas Wink
