I’ve bought my mum a Dyson handheld & I’m so excited to give it to her! She struggles with the stairs now, so it’ll be great.

Have you got something you’re looking forward to gifting?

I'm looking forward to DH opening a book I've got him of the art of a guy who's famous for his iconic movie poster graphics. DH is a designer and a big film geek so I think he's really going to like it.

MrsLebowski · 13/12/2020 21:50

I am looking forward to giving my DH his present
I thought the italics signified a double entendre at first. Then realised you don't like the term gifting.
Just remember it's better to gift than receipt.

Fishfingersandwichplease · 13/12/2020 21:51

Dd has been saving her pocket money to buy a big girl desk for her bedroom- got her one with an office chair - sounds dull af but l know she will be delighted

myhobbyisouting · 13/12/2020 21:51

"Me and DD have been in a bubble with another single parent family since May, I have commissioned a gorgeous portrait of all of us which I am so excited to give to the mum of the other family. It even has both our dogs on 😍"

Oh....errr I hope she likes it. Similar happened to my grandad (minus the bubble as it was years ago). He hated that fecking thing. Said the eyes were following him Grin

Canyoncall · 13/12/2020 21:52

For adult DD a vintage hoody that is same (rare) brand of T-shirt she has worn holes in and still won’t ditch. Found it by accident on online vintage shop - is a nice stocking filler :)

myhobbyisouting · 13/12/2020 21:52

@Fishfingersandwichplease my DS has just got a desk! He's delighted by it.

Milkshake54 · 13/12/2020 21:55

I’m pregnant and due in three weeks. I’ve bought my husband a book of Dad jokes and I can’t wait to give it to him🥰

rabbitheadlights · 13/12/2020 21:59

Some super duper all singing all dancing mega expensive drawing pens that I know DD14 has been dreaming of, she would never ask for them because they are so expensive and after all just pens. I can't wait to see her face.

Inthetropics · 13/12/2020 21:59

I really want to see my partner's reacyion when she opens the Huuuge jigsaw puzzle i'm giving her. And i'm also having it framed after she's finished it.

LEELULUMPKIN · 13/12/2020 22:00

@myhobbyisouting That was exactly my first thought!

I can see the thread from the recipient on here already! :)

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 13/12/2020 22:01

DD is 16m old and constantly hiding in the clothes dryer, the cupboard, a tent made out of a sheet and two chairs...

I've got her a play tent, it's got a little door flap and two windows and I've got a string of battery powered fairy lights for it and a sheepskin rug for the floor. She will absolutely LOVE it and will probably not leave it for the next week.

Last Christmas she had been seriously ill, only got home from hospital late christmas eve & was still quite poorly & tired on Christmas day which put a damper on our family christmas. I'm really excited about this year and I've decided last year doesnt count as her first Christmas Grin

rabbitheadlights · 13/12/2020 22:02

@noidontwatchloveisland sounds perfect hope you have a fab day

LajesticVantrashell · 13/12/2020 22:06

DH reads about one book per year. This year he read Ready Player One and loved it. Randomly checking out Amazon the other day, the guy has written a sequel!! So I’m excited to give him Ready Player Two which he has no idea has even been written.

ilovehalloumi · 13/12/2020 22:06

Good point. Portrait was probably the wrong word, it's like cartoon drawings, but not in a kiddy way...

LajesticVantrashell · 13/12/2020 22:07

Also, Oodie is now a featured ad on the side of this thread!

itsgettingweird · 13/12/2020 22:16

My secret Santa gift for new colleague.

Only been there 3 months and so was shy and is coming out if her shell.

Sale on and so I managed to get twice as much as it's things I know she loves and something she loves to do.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 13/12/2020 22:16

Rabbitheadlights

Thanks you too I bet your DD will be like Shock

Merry Christmas everyone. Covid/brexit can only ruin things for us if we let it.

Bearsbearsbears40 · 13/12/2020 22:17

I’ve bought my DH some relatively rare whisky that I don’t think he realises is being made (it’s new). It’s from a distillery that has a (vague) family connection. I’m excited to see his reaction. Also, I bought my parents’ dog a Barks and Spencer prawn sandwich soft toy. It’s a ridiculous present but I know my folks will be tickled by it and I can’t stop giggling when I see it in my study ready to be wrapped. Crazy, I know!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 13/12/2020 22:19

For several years now, I have knitted or crocheted a toy animal to go in dh’s stocking - it started as a joke and has become a tradition.

I wasn’t sure I’d be able to make one this year - he’s been working from home since March, so stealth-knitting has not been easy, but by dint of knitting like fury every time he left the house, I can introduce Harry. Harry Otter.

Light hearted - To ask what you’re most looking forward to gifting this year?
pourmethevino · 13/12/2020 22:20

Bought my mum a FitBit but tbh I think she'd much prefer a dyson handheld. Great idea OP 😁

Looking forward to DD opening her phone.

rabbitheadlights · 13/12/2020 22:23

Also DS asked for a harmonica. No idea why?! Told him no chance I'm not listening to that! 😉

EcoCustard · 13/12/2020 22:28

@SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius that Otter is fab. I would love that as would my daughters.
Looking forward to DH getting his bacon jam in his stocking. And the children getting their skateboard and scooters which they are not expecting.

UsernameSpoosername · 13/12/2020 22:35

All sound lovely Smile

Got my DM tickets to see a singer she loves. It will be his 50th Anniversary Show in September. Praying by then Covid won't prevent it 🙏 I am someone who always ends up telling someone what gift I got them but so far I've kept quite. Very proud of that too 😂 I bet your DM will love her gift

Kokapetl · 13/12/2020 22:43

The Otter is amazing!

I've got 7yo DC a Lego pirate ship set and it's a 3 in 1 set so also makes a pirate base and a treasure island. I loved pirate Lego as a kid and still quite like Lego so am quite excited about this set.

Also, I've got DH a thermal kettle- it keeps the water hot after it boils. I think it sounds great! Not sure what he'll think of a kettle as a present though....
