My little girl is 18 months old and I’m not sure when I should let her have a pillow to sleep with and a quilt instead of the little grow bags as it’s now gone freezing here. Please don’t come for me I’m a first time mum just looking for a little advice Xmas Grin

We'll switch either when DS outgrows the 18-36 month ones I've just bought or outgrows his cot, whichever comes first. He's only just 1 so I think I'll maybe get another year? He's very tall.

Ds was almost 2 I think. And he was 3 when we took the sides off his cotbed.

@NotAnotherPain

I also don’t want to use a toddler bed at all
You don’t need to. We had a cotbed from start for a variety of reasons so just took the rails down but DD also slept in single beds when she was small, I actually think that a single was better as it is wider and less danger of falling out.

Both mine went straight to a single bed. We didn't have the cot bed where you removed the sides - we just had a cot

Mine were 2

A small pillow and quilt are fine from 12 months but I'd get a heavier sleeping bag if you think she's cold as it will be warmer than a quilt that she'll kick off.
DS got a pillow when he was 1 but stayed in his sleeping bag til he was 3 as he liked it.

We didn't use a toddler bed. Ds had a large cot bed, we took the side off when he climbed over it at 2.5 and he stayed in that til he was almost 4 when he moved into his 'big boy room' with full sized single bed.

When they went into a bed. We didn’t have a toddler bed. They moved from cot to a single bed.

DS was just under 2, if I remember correctly. I'd have done it sooner but DH was nervous.

DD was in September when the nights started getting cooler so about 15 months.

In need of some advice! My baby is nearly 6 months old, he has suddenly decided he doesn’t like sleeping in the Snuzpod... I breastfeed him to sleep on a pillow and then place him next to me in bed - he seems to wake up and then when I breastfeed him off the pillow he goes straight back to sleep on the pillow and sleeps soundly. It’s not a particularly thick pillow and it’s pretty wide... I’m just worried as I keep reading that pillows of any kind are not recommended. Does this also mean when a baby is fully lying on an adult pillow?

dementedpixie · 16/12/2020 21:34

Pillow is too soft and is a suffocation risk
