Can be anything
My dog
How small it is.

OP posts:
ChrissyPlummer · 10/12/2020 15:05

It’s got a stupidly big open plan front garden that has to be maintained but is never used.

Only one driveway space, despite all the room from the bloody front garden.

The en-suite makes the master bedroom a weird shape, they (new build) chopped off a bit of the room, rather than just make the room large enough (like my old house).

The layout isn’t great. The one in our old house was better.

toconclude · 10/12/2020 15:11

I really could do with my own parking space. Also conservation area which means the local council put stupid restrictions on what you can do. I have to get permission to prune my trees...

FatCatThinCat · 10/12/2020 15:15

The heating system. The house is either freezing cold (currently sat at the computer with my coat and fingerless gloves on) or so hot it makes me ill. No amount of fiddling with the radiators or plant results in a comfortable temperature.

FazeleysRoyale · 10/12/2020 15:15

Sorry I meant stalagmites not stalactites. They're not hanging down. I'm annoying myself now.

GreekOddess · 10/12/2020 15:16

There isn't really anything that I don't like about my house. A utility room would be nice.

My last house was too narrow. 11ft wide and a Victorian mid terrace. You could hear absolutely everything from the neighbours on either side.

PinkSpring · 10/12/2020 15:18

That's it's semi detached.

Wasn't an issue until recently when our neighbours got rid of a crap load of furniture and apparently made their living room into an empty cave - now it sounds like a heard of fucking elephant stomping around. They encourage their toddler to run around like a moron at times he should really be in bed and the noise is ridiculous!

When we move, I want detached Angry

FraggleShingleBellRock · 10/12/2020 15:35

I love how big my council house is , it's got 5 good sized bedrooms. But the kitchen is 3mx2m and with a sink and job in there I have just 1.2m work top space next to the job for prep and plating up. It's ridiculous and I've had to fit shelves above the windows to increase storage and even hang things from the ceiling. Bonkers!

And the rest of the house is awful for storage. No lift as the top for us as pec ceilings. I have an airing cupboard that is so irregular in shape and layout of pipes that I can't even put a shelf in there. And no other storage in the house. It's a nightmare trying to store Deccys /tree etc.

wigglerose · 10/12/2020 15:36

No space for a sink in the utility.
No internal access to the garage.
It's not 3x the size (but the same price, obvs).
Hall is about 1m long so always get congested when visitors arrive or leave (in the BEFORE TIMES, not relevant during covid).
Downstairs needs painting desperately because the dog has shaken against every walk.
Kitchen could be bigger, but we're not going to stay long enough to justify an extension.

The parish council/village mentality of where we live. Can't be fucked frankly.

Coseynightin · 10/12/2020 15:37

Access to garden through living room - the builders could have just swapped the layout around.

TokyoSushi · 10/12/2020 15:37

Road noise. I console myself with the fact that if our house was a bit further into the estate then we wouldn't be able to afford it. It's a beautiful house.

williowrosenburg · 10/12/2020 15:39

That the wood floors are freezing this time of year and the fact we are mid terrace. Thankfully have lovely neighbours but would love to have side access without having to walk around someone else's house.

Chimeraforce · 10/12/2020 15:44

The tiny lobby. The fact that you must walk through lounge to access the house.
It's on a school road. Not bad at first but 16 years on and a 33%expansion its a fucking nightmare.
Brand new homes being built on lovely green next door. Hideous noise all week. Plus my light and view are now gone.
Neighbours yappy fucking dogs. 11pm 1am 4am I want to kill them. It's been years.

Thelnebriati · 10/12/2020 15:48

We're overlooked front and back, and have no privacy.

MustardMitt · 10/12/2020 15:50

The buggers that live with me. Won’t leave me alone or tidy up after themselves! Grin

It’s too small.
No garden, only a small paved yard.
Whoever did the carpentry in this house was clearly a weekend DIYer as it’s practically all on the wonk!

letsnotscaretheneighbours · 10/12/2020 16:00

Has a lot of work to be done before its perfect. Moved in March. Done kitchen, all the fencing in the garden, artificial lawn (I have health issues), patio, gate, soffits, fascias, guttering. Bedroom floor, electrics, replastering, new consumer box. Now needs the down pipe re-routed due to a knackered soakaway, windows in the conservatory. Conservatory roof, bathroom, other bedrooms need flooring, wardrobes, lighting (eventually due to old wiring), carpet on stairs, door from hall to garage and a complete re-dec.

TheDogsMother · 10/12/2020 16:16

We've done a lot of work so I mostly love our house but there's no drive, it's bloody difficult to heat and is like a wind tunnel when doors and windows are left open in summer.

FilthyforFirth · 10/12/2020 16:21

Creaky floorboards upstairs. Hate it so much. Can it be fixed?! Need to google...

merryhouse · 10/12/2020 16:21

Damp (slightly better since we put the thermostat to 19 but still annoying)
Walls aren't straight (when we put coving up we couldn't use the fancy corner pieces because the corners are all more than 90 degrees)
Stainless steel central heating pipes (built in the 60s during a copper shortage) which are being eaten away from the inside and mean we can't have a pressurised system
One of the set of four smallest gardens on the estate

Iamsodonewith2020 · 10/12/2020 16:23

My tiny overlooked new build garden. Had a huge kitchen remodel so my house would be perfect for us and a forever home if garden was 10x the size!

Peachypips78 · 10/12/2020 16:27

That my living room has too many doors so has become a corridor

willsantausesantatize · 10/12/2020 16:28

The kitchen is at the front and I'd rather it led out to the garden. Garden is small
3rd bedroom isn't that big.
Only one bathroom.
I used to love my home..
:)

QuieterMass · 10/12/2020 16:31

The large number of woodlice that somehow find their way into my porch just to die. I have to sweep them up every few days.

BlackCatsRule88 · 10/12/2020 16:34

The fact that there are two switches in the house that I cannot work out what the hell they switch on and off.

MedusasBadHairDay · 10/12/2020 16:38

@BlackCatsRule88

The fact that there are two switches in the house that I cannot work out what the hell they switch on and off.
There are 2 light switches in my stairwell, the top one controls the downstairs light, and the bottom one controls the upstairs light. How does that make any sense?!
Peachypips78 · 10/12/2020 16:38

Also- reading this makes me realise how lucky I am and to count my blessings. One man's feast is another man's famine and all that.

Even the worst house in this thread won't be as bad as a slum too. And here I am moaning about two doors in my living room! I know it's lighthearted obvs and am enjoying it a lot!
