Can be anything
My dog
How small it is.

OP posts:
blackteaplease · 12/12/2020 07:09

So many things
It's cold
The bathroom has mildew
The light switches in the original part are at the far side of each room.
The shit renovations the previous owners carried out
All of the above can be fixed with time and money but they annoy me daily

Saracen · 12/12/2020 07:14

Hardly anything. I really like it.

The kitchen is weird though: there are six doors coming off it! So there really isn't anywhere for cupboards or work surfaces.

And it is very tricky to reverse into the drive off the busy main road.

iDontReally · 12/12/2020 07:20

My bathroom ceiling extractor fan leaks

Mamanyt · 12/12/2020 07:21

@purpleme12

The fact that it's got leaded Windows You know the ones with those stupid small diamond shapes all over the window I hate it. No idea why someone would want Windows like this
Send them to me. I adore them.

I live in a flat. It is fairly spacious, but the landlord won't allow ANY alterations. I'm stuck with "builders' white" walls. I'm perishing for color!

Downstairs bathroom and I'd like the house to be a couple of miles down the road.

Lollipity · 12/12/2020 07:55

Shower leaks onto the bathroom floor when the shower is used so you have to use squeegee to get rid of the puddle after every shower.

EvonneGoolagong · 12/12/2020 07:58

Size of the hallway. When we’re trying to get out in the mornings, getting bags, coats and shoes on is such a squeeze. It will only get worse as the kids get bigger.

uberraschtezwiebel · 12/12/2020 10:30

Generally I very much like our house , it was refurbished completely to my taste and has loads of little extras in it but we never originally intended to stay more than 18 months - 2 years , now we are at 3+ years but that's mostly due to Covid , its too small and the parking is on road , so time to move for us

Elle200 · 12/12/2020 10:33

That I have to rent it is a big issue for me.

It needs a seperate wc, and a bath, currently just one wet room.

Otherwise, it's a great property, just wish I could buy it!

Charlottejade89 · 12/12/2020 11:43

Ours is a rented property, wish we could own it tho!
kitchen although decent size has crap ventilation which results in mold which we have to paint regularly.
Used to hate that the bathroom is downstairs but now I have a toddler who needs to pee every 5 mins I dont mind it. Makes bath and bedtime routine easier too.
Hate the carpet on the stairs, and hate that anyone who comes to the door its the first thing they see of our house

k1233 · 12/12/2020 11:56

Love my actual abode. What I hate is the neighbour and his frickin' leaf blower. For fluffs sake, we have maintenance people who do the common area. But no, neighbour gets the bloody leaf blower out and right royally pisses me off.

burnoutbabe · 12/12/2020 12:19

Love my smallish flat just would adore

  1. second loo for when guests stay
  2. space in kitchen for separate tumble dryer - washer dryer always leaves things steamy
  3. a big storage space for stuff like ironing board/ boxes from electrical items/ the random bits and bobs.
ginghamtablecloths · 12/12/2020 12:22

It's just that little bit too small and I need more storage but to get neat, built-in cupboards is above my budget. I put up with it as there are worse things to contend with.

willsantausesantatize · 12/12/2020 12:27

Unless you can design your own place and have it built for you , lots of people compromise.
My first home didn't have parking at the front. Was an absolute pain , but the bedrooms were slightly bigger.
This place has a drive but smaller rooms.
New homes don't have as many cupboards for storage I've noticed.

Geekster1963 · 12/12/2020 12:34

Our bedroom I just don’t like it, don’t really know why.

amusedbush · 12/12/2020 12:36

The bedroom has one weirdly shaped wall with a bit of space set back into it. It’s the only place a wardrobe can go but it’s only 120cm across so that dictates how big the wardrobe can be Hmm

I also hate that we don’t have a driveway and can never put one in because the pavement in front of our house joins up with a grassy area owned by the council rather than the road. There is a little carpark over to one side and I have a space but my nosy neighbour’s son keeps using it when he visits Angry

Yamashita40 · 12/12/2020 12:38

That the garden is big and could be amazing but it's not currently a priority financially to do it. So I mourn its' untapped potential every time I look out.

Don't get me wrong, it's a hell of a lot better than when we moved in and it was a huge muddy swamp. But it's just a boring couple of lawns with an inspiring shed, decking and bushes.

twinklespells · 12/12/2020 12:46

That my rooms are all pretty much square. Makes it very hard to find spaces to put things.

willsantausesantatize · 12/12/2020 12:57

People adore huge gardens but the upkeep must be a pain if your not really into it or can't afford nice plants / pots /
Furniture etc.
I'm amazed how much people spend on their gardens. Ours is small and boring but at least we can keep it tidy and doesn't cost much. I know it's a hobby for many people though and people have remarked on our 'small garden' as if it's a bad thing.

NoIDontWatchLoveIsland · 12/12/2020 13:13

Garden is very very overlooked on all sides, it's like living in a goldfish bowl.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 12/12/2020 13:16

I absolutely love my house don't want to hurt it's feelings but I think the kitchen still has the original Victorian plumbing-takes ages for water to get hot and then it's either scalding or cold. Even as I write this I wonder why I haven't had a plumber come take a look!!

willsantausesantatize · 12/12/2020 13:52

Could you put some fences up? Or grow some big shrubs?
MissMatchedClaws · 12/12/2020 23:32

Low ceilings. Just make everything seem so cramped in an already small 1950s semi.

safariboot · 12/12/2020 23:35

Housing Association property. The stairs are bloody awful. Bodged repair jobs have made significant differences in their height, a safety hazard and something not allowed in new construction.
