To expect the person that asked DH to buy a very expensive cake to pay him for it!

DH was away on business last week, and a person from his office asked him to buy a particular cake for them. Why DH didnt think "flippin heck that cake is expensive!" and ring the woman , I dont know!!!! Anyway DH bought the thing, but the woman has said she wasnt expecting it to cost that much, and doesnt want it! So we are now left with this cake, which is expensive and do not know what to do with it! I know some of you will say eat it, but to be honest we are not great cake eaters!

So is there anyone out there that would like to buy an expensive cake, its a chocolate torte!

just googled, I think we are talking about the same company. 3 letters, or perhaps 11

pinkbubble · 21/10/2007 22:48

with the 3 letters does it start with a "P"

no! This is getting too cryptic, have been drinking Austrian red wine.

Must be a different company then. lol, that would have been some coincidence!

pinkbubble · 21/10/2007 22:52

yes, I am also on the beer! I do know that Dh does work in Scotland and everywhere else come to think of it, also know that the company seems to have lots of different names too!

OP posts:
kindersurprise · 21/10/2007 22:54

Scotland was a red herring, we are in Germany!

Tortington · 21/10/2007 22:55

if i was you - i would walk into the office straight to the woman and bang it down on desk

i would then put my hand straight through it and mush it.

" if you think thats rude" you should say " then have a thought for the silly bugger who bought it in good faith"

and walk out

pinkbubble · 21/10/2007 22:55

Not sure he does any business in Germany!!!! Although some of his colleagues may! He has been to Belgium recently and oh yes Austria!!! LOL

He is off to Egypt today - half term and all! Not impressed!

Good one, Custenstein!

Pinkbubble you are spoilt for choice of solutions now!

kindersurprise · 21/10/2007 22:59

I am lucky, DH does not have to go on loads of trips, occasionally to Munich or Amsterdam. Once to Dubrovnik. Once to Tuscany (almost stowed away in his suitcase that time)

How long is he away generally?

I do hope he is not bringing anything back from Egypt for his dizzy workmate!

pinkbubble · 21/10/2007 23:03

He used to go away alot, then he changed positions in the company and I have got used to him being here, so last week and now this week has come as a bit of a shock! think it may be a sign of things to come!

Also a little bit sick as DH and I went to Egypt last Easter for a week without DDs , and he is going to stay in exactly the same 2 hotels that we stayed in, and its about 30 degrees at the mo!

DH went to Egypt with his last job, I was a bit then too.

It is a bit frustrating sometimes, but it is part of his job that he is away a fair bit. Normally just a day or two but sometimes for a week.

pinkbubble · 21/10/2007 23:18

Yes I agree, DH is away till Friday! DD3 really misses him and cries every night because she likes him seeing her to bed! She has got to get used to this - bless - she is 7!!!!

OP posts:
kindersurprise · 21/10/2007 23:21

I think it gets worse as they get older. (the DCs not the DHs, although that fits too!)

My DD was awful last week because she missed her dad, she is 5. DS was not so bothered, he is only 3. DD is a complete daddysgirl though and DS more a mummysboy. (Cliche, I know). DH did not get around to phoning one night and we had tears at bedtime.

pinkbubble · 21/10/2007 23:23

Its awful isnt it, I find that DD3 gets a lot younger in her speech and how she behaves when DH is away! Which really surprises me as she does so not get get away with it!

OP posts:
kindersurprise · 21/10/2007 23:47

Funny you should say that, I just said to my mum today that DD was regressing! She wanted me to get her dressed last week because I helped DS get dressed.

pinkbubble · 21/10/2007 23:51

Things that Dc think they can get away with - but cant!!!

kindersurprise · 22/10/2007 00:02

Anyway, I am off to bed, early start in the morning.

Hope you get shot of the cake. How about bribing one of your DC's teachers with it? That should be worth an A+ at least!

NotQuiteCockney · 22/10/2007 08:02

27.50 euros isn't £25 - it's just under £25. For what it's worth. (Unless there was tax on top?)

Oenophile · 22/10/2007 08:16

Flippin'ec, how much cheek did that woman have to say 'I'm not having it then?' I'm far too wimpy to do that, is she a very Assertive Woman?

Situations like this are very awkward, a farmer (not former lol) friend of mine once asked me if I would like to order one of her 'home-grown' turkeys she was rearing for Xmas. Well it came and with it the bill - £39!! that was in 1984 and was about, ooh, £150 in 1980s-turkey-terms.) Even with the bit of greenery she had stuffed into its neckhole it wasn't worth that, but I meekly paid up, looking like I was grateful that it cost the price of a small swimmingpool.

Oh and it was tough.

WideWebWitch · 22/10/2007 08:30

Outrageous, she's got to pay for it.

tiredemma · 22/10/2007 08:34

That is so rude.

How can people have the nerve (damn cheek) to do this?

Oooh, I would be tres angry!

pinkbubble · 22/10/2007 10:15

Wonder why people do it! Surely she must have known that it was going to be pricey!!!!!

Dh really does not like confrontations, and blames himself for not ringing her before he bought the thing.

Oh well just have to write it off to a bad (but yummy) experience!

Carmenere · 22/10/2007 10:17

Just tell her to give you a tenner for it and never speak to the bitch again.
