If you have been with Sky for years and then swapped to a SkyQ box, do you hate it as much as me?

Been with sky for years and moved house so they upgraded us to a Sky Q box.
It's bloody awful. Nothing make sense. Nothing is in the right place and the buttons don't make sense either.
I told myself it's because I'm getting old and I just need to get used to it.

But it's been 18 months and it's still a pile of confusing shit.

To the point where I'm considering going back to Virgin or other.

Does anyone else feel the same or is it because I'm old and don't like change?

I don't like it either, I'm 29 and wouldn't consider myself a technophobe. It's just not very well layed out and quite illogical imo.

MozzchopsThirty · 06/12/2020 20:17

I'm totally with you, I'd pay good money to have my old box back
Plus all my saved stuff was deleted too

Inclinedtochatter · 06/12/2020 20:17

We've had it 3 months now and I detest it. It's just not user friendly and don't get me started on the bloody remote. It's cumbersome and slippery and ours makes a strange creaky crackling sound.

WheresMyMask · 06/12/2020 20:17

I'm glad it's not just me.

I had never considered myself crap at technology until this poxy skyQ box

We’ve been with them for donkeys years and got the SkyQ about a year ago..... have got on well with it since we got it.

CreamFirstThenJamOnTop · 06/12/2020 20:19

I actually can’t remember what the old one was like!

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 06/12/2020 20:19

We have it and I get on with it fine but you can get the old Sky Plus I believe.

Anoisagusaris · 06/12/2020 20:20

Me too!

The old version was very user friendly. This one is shite. The option you are on isn’t clearly highlighted so you don’t know what you are actually selecting when you hit select.

Porgy · 06/12/2020 20:21

Do you not have the voice remote control? That does make things easier to find.

I've had it since when they brought it out and can't say I dislike it more than regular sky. It updated/changed in the summer and now I find it awkward watching programs after I select them from the on demand section. The episode selection pages are awkward now.

Dollyrocket · 06/12/2020 20:21

Oh yes, it’s really fucking me off.

W H Y doesn’t the ‘back’ button just go back to the previous ‘thing’? Now it seems to just cancel everything entirely so you have to start searching again.

The UI is basically utter shite.

ThorFull · 06/12/2020 20:22

Oh I hate sky Q. Had it a year and still can’t figure out what I’m doing.

If I’m watching a recording, then accidentally press something and come out of it, used to be able to press play and it would take me straight back. Is there a way I can still do this?

Stradivari · 06/12/2020 20:22

God no. SkyQ is so much better than Sky Plus, to the extent that when I stay somewhere (airbnb etc) that has anything older it feels clunky and shit!

TikTokFinger · 06/12/2020 20:22

Prefer the old one but have gotten used to it. It wouldn’t take too much to sack off sky anyway.

ThorFull · 06/12/2020 20:22

18 months actually. The only thing I do like is pressing the button on the box to make the remote beep.

PressYouFurther · 06/12/2020 20:24

We’ve been with Sky since they began and switched to the Qbox about a year ago. I still don’t know which buttons to press and it gets on my nerves - all I want to do is see what’s on the telly. It’s not intuitive at all.

AdventureCode · 06/12/2020 20:24

Check that the package your on now isnt on their website cheaper to new customers OP. I saw their new offer was £29 cheaper per month and called them up. I can't believe i willingly paid what i did for so long.

Once your current contract runs out, check!

LadyFelsham · 06/12/2020 20:27

We have BT and I hate it-would love to go back to Sky but have had to sign in blood with BT for the next 324 years.

Want to go on Now TV, so can get Sky programmes but no real idea about it at all!

WheresMyMask · 06/12/2020 20:28

No we can't. We have a SkyQ dish, we can't go back to sky plus. If only.

williowrosenburg · 06/12/2020 20:30

I hate that you can't set a reminder for a programme... you can only record!

BakedTattie · 06/12/2020 20:30

It’s bloody awful isn’t it? I just want to press TV guide button and actually see the tv channels! Not have to go into the menu, down to channels, select, select again blah blah blah. It’s very user unfriendly

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 06/12/2020 20:32

The worst bit is if you accidentally turn on to the channel you’re recording and then continue to scroll....it thinks you’ve watched up to that point in the show and plays it from there when you go to watch it the next day.

maxbabi · 06/12/2020 20:50

And recordings disappear and you know you recorded it.
I hate it

Gibble1 · 06/12/2020 20:52

I haven’t watched anything on sky by myself since we got sky q. I can’t work the bloody thing and can’t be bothered to figure it out. I now just watch YouTube if I want to watch something.
It’s such a waste of time and money.

DrWAnkenstein · 06/12/2020 20:55

When we moved last year we got a SkyQ box. It's fine for us but I have a 13 yo Grin.

DramaAlpaca · 06/12/2020 20:55

I have no problem with it, I find it quite intuitive and easy to use. My only gripe is that I keep accidentally deleting things. Thank goodness for an undelete button.
