Nobody knows everything! It's fun to learn though.
I learned this year how ridiculously easy it is to make home made flat breads!
And I'm a fairly competent and experienced cook (or so I thought)
I only recently discovered the Netherlands and Holland were the same place...it still confuses me
Not quite true.
Holland is a region of the country of the Netherlands and consists of 2 provinces : North Holland and south Holland. Provinces are roughly equivalent to counties, the region of Holland is similar to how we have eg east Anglia. That's very much a simplification as obviously different countries don't operate exactly as each other politically, but that's a rough explanation.
@Judashascomeintosomemoney written before I read yours and perhaps a little more in depth? Funny how we both used easy anglia though
Learnt due to living in the Netherlands (I knew Holland was part of Netherlands before living there but I understand the intersections better now). There are 12 provinces for the pp who asked about "Other areas"
@Pickypolly I'm in Scotland, whenever certain place names are said on something automated but they've selected a posh English "voice" and not "educated" it as to the right pronunciation the results can be bloody hilarious! Cleethorpes is nothing compared to the mangling of Milngavie, tighnabruich or even Fraserburgh hell even Edinburgh has some odd results!
Re "another think coming" it's because the whole phrase is "if x thinks they can do/say y they've another think coming" ie they better bloody think again!
That you are supposed to wash rice before you cook it...it has trace amounts of arsenic on it!
Erm...you've misunderstood. Arsenic is a naturally occurring Element. Rice absorbs it more than certain other crops and is consumed in large quantities in some countries and the arsenic is thought to make over consumption of rice carcinogenic

Rinsing it depends on what type of rice you're making. Rinsing is for rinsing off starch which you want to do if you want fluffy rice but if you want sticky rice don't rinse it.
My one: I thought hr people were supposed to be empathetic and to help employees with problems
I know not the point you were making but HR exists for protection of their employers not employees, basically to stop them getting sued for bad treatment of employees
Found out today tomatoes are native to the Americas so there was no tomato sauce in Italy until 16th C.
Now that I didn't know! Thanks
