Just that. I rarely use Instagram but found myself scrolling Britney Spears account today. It’s incredibly unnerving. She is clearly very very unwell. I found some of her videos disturbing and hard to watch.

She would be the youngest victim of dementia by around 10 years.

There have been case reports of biopsy-proven fronto-temporal dementia in people in their twenties. The youngest I could find were two 21 yr old and 25 yr old brothers.

So yes it’s very young, but not impossible. And of course there are other degenerative neurological disorders that’s can give a dementia-like picture.

Beefcurtains79 · 07/12/2020 09:31

She was creepily sexualised from a very young age, all with her parents blessing. There are a great deal of predators in that industry so who knows what happened to the poor girl.

Shes talked about her Bipolar disorder a lot

TatianaBis · 07/12/2020 09:49

I’m not sure how it’s relevant what your dad and aunt have, you do know there are many , many different syndromes that fall under the umbrella heading of dementia and that there is no such thing as typical speech patterns across that range of syndromes?

If there is one thing clear at this point, it’s that you know nothing about any kind dementia. You don’t seem to be able to decide whether you think she has an NCL disorder or young onset age-related dementia. Nor do you seem to be acquainted with the symptoms of either.

Language problems are common in any kind of the dementias under discussion - NCL disorders - age-related dementia and its young onset variant.

I gave my father and aunt as examples of mixed dementia - vascular and Alzheimer’s.

But this article again just regurgitates that one quote where she describes her stage persona.

She hasn’t “opened up about it a lot.”

Rosehassometoes · 07/12/2020 10:38

I guess dementia in this age group could be an acquired type. Someone mentioned Korsakoffs. Perhaps HIV induced too.

FestiveChristmasLights · 07/12/2020 10:59

@TatianaBis

My dad and aunt have dementia. Both have ‘mixed’ dementia - vascular and Alzheimer’s. Britney shows none of the typical symptoms.
Why would she when it would be unbelievably astounding odds for her to suffer from either of those types of dementia? It’s like cancer - different types present very differently.

Childhood dementia can be from birth or just a few months old. Dementia can onset from any age although it’s rare in younger people. Not as rare as being plucked from obscurity and becoming one of the biggest pop icons in the world though!
Changechangychange · 07/12/2020 11:15

Yes, I was talking specifically about fronto-temporal dementia, because that seemed to be what the poster I was quoting was dismissing as a possibility. And it is a possibility, albeit very rare.

But I quite agree that whether it is that or not, there are plenty of other things it can be, before it’s “conspiracy between her father and the medical community to oppress a troubled young woman”.

Esse321 · 07/12/2020 11:25

If it was dementia then 9 plus years from diagnosis would she really have been capable of all those live shows, live interviews where she appeared totally normal and recording albums, surely more likely to be bi-polar which has cycles of extreme highs and lows which requires hospitalisation sometimes.

TatianaBis · 07/12/2020 12:06

It would be unbelievably astounding odds for her to suffer from any of the types of dementia under discussion. Other than the recoverable kinds I mentioned earlier.

It’s not like cancer as there are many different types of cancer that affect different parts of the body: whereas all dementias affect the brain. However, late stage cancer of any type have common symptoms nonetheless - weight loss, pain, fatigue etc.

user1471565182 · 07/12/2020 12:13

Nobody is claiming theres some conspiracy to oppress her. They are complaining that her father should not have the conservatorship and Britney agrees with this and has encouraged people to help her change it back over to the woman who held it while her father was ill. Simple as that.

Nobody can show this 'team of drs' involved in the court or that any dr has said she has dementia for definite, it just seems thats what her father wrote in court documents.

The other worry is the potential for her future earnings her father and his slimy staff could have access to.

Yes there are a few conspiraloons who have latched on and making up all sorts but we arnt on about them.

user1471565182 · 07/12/2020 12:16

Yep, watch her in the X factor shows and tell me shes incapable.

AlternativePerspective · 07/12/2020 12:18

Good god there’s an awful lot of conjecture and speculation on this thread.

People saying that they know she isn’t allowed a phone and that all her videos are uploaded by her management.

Others making medical diagnoses based on what they think they know and information gleaned from the tabloids or the fan sites or wherever else which is almost certainly not reliable.

And others shooting down a potential diagnosis because that’s not how their relative behaved...

Assuming no-one actually knows this woman in person, nobody actually knows what is going on here.

Judging by everything I think it’s fair to say she isn’t mentally competent, and whatever reason that is is not within our knowledge. But the more people watch these instagrams, the more incentive there is for them to keep coming.

TatianaBis · 07/12/2020 12:23

That’s not even remotely what was said if you read it properly.

*Her own lawyers have stated it is not reversible, that’s why she’s basically in a life long conservetoire, and folks need to remember Britney is not disputing the need for it, nor is she arguing she doesn’t want it, she is agreeing to it.

What she’s arguing is she doesn’t wish her father to do it. She wants her care manager to.*

It is possible that she is arguing that she didn't want her father to do it as a first step of getting free from it.

Thereluctantstepmother · 07/12/2020 13:31

Do they speed up her voice on her insta posts? It’s like she’s on speed?

She didn't.
That's the same quote, where she's talking about her stage persona...not her mental health.

This is kind of reminding me of when years back Angelina or Brad said that Shiloh liked to be called John when she was only around 2! Next thing some websites starting calling Shiloh transgender and referring to her with male pronouns! even though Angelina was still referring to Shiloh as her daughter! The comments were completely taken out of context and used as proof as some kind of admission that Shiloh wanted to transition!

Badbackbernie · 07/12/2020 15:16

I feel incredibly sorry for her and can only imagine the horrors she went through as a child ‘Disney Star’..

Bluntness100 · 07/12/2020 15:28

You’re really not willing to let the conspiracy theory go are you?

If her conditions are revealed to the public will you feel bad for what her parents had to deal with, the abuse they had to take, when simply trying to protect their child. Or will you shrug your shoulders, turn away and muttering well they didn’t tell us so how was I to know?

I'm just responding to what you said. This is a discussion!!!

Personally I don't really have a strong opinion on what's going on in this situation.....just that there is a possibility that the way that this has been handled is not in Britneys best interests.

It's funny you should say that. I recall years and years ago (2007 time, before she had her actual breakdown) reading rumours online that she'd been diagnosed with HIV and that was why she was going off the rails. After also reading that her father requested her medical information be sealed because the information that it contained would ruin her career (although I took that to mean that she'd been taking drugs).

It was all on gossip websites though, nothing of substance or valuable reporting so I suspect it was just that; gossip.

lazylockdowner · 07/12/2020 17:22

Her shorts look awful... there is no denying she has a banging body but her short choice do nothing for her.

She looks really tired and unwell, so sad 😞

Bluntness100 · 07/12/2020 17:30

But then it’s the court and doctors you’re questioning becayse they are the ultimate decision makers.

I think of this we're the early years of the conservatorship then I could believe that a small number of doctors etc were being paid off. This far along? There are so many people who will have been involved over the years it's highly highly unlikely that they've all been paid off and hushed up... and no ones spoken about it.

The truth is usually stranger that fiction as they say. I suspect this is what it says on the tin, a very unwell young woman being cared for at home under severe restrictions for her own safety and well-being.

The kindness and sensibility of allowing her to post when she is so obviously not well is another matter. If it were my family member I wouldn't do it. I'd hate to know how she'd feel if she reads the comments some are really unkind (and others completely bat shit crazy)

I saw the '911' in the eyelashes Insta post though. It was there, it was quite obvious. I can't think why anyone would do that.
