...to wonder where I'll buy my bras now?

Being amply endowed when it comes to norkage, I struggle to find bras that fit, are comfortable and don't cost a bloody fortune.

For 20-odd years I've been buying Debenhams own brand of big tits bras. They fit (although sizing can be inconsistent between styles), are comfortable (have wide straps which don't dig in) and wash and wear well. And they are bloody reasonably priced for the quality - a pack of 2 t-shirt bras is around £16.

Debenhams is now officially in receivership, so what other retailer does comfy bras for the large of breat at a reasonable price? Bravissimo, Figleaves etc are much more expensive, supermarket bras generally have skinny straps that dig in to my shoulders and M&S bras are really weird in big sizes (they seem to think that big tits cover a larger area of chest, whereas I carry all before me, so an M&S bra that accommodates my boobs has cups that go right round into my armpits).

I'm devastated and think I'll bulk buy every 36G and 36GG on their website while I can.

I am similarly endowed and have been buying the Fantasie bras for a couple of years now. I find they fit well, you can get them from House of Fraser but Amazon also has them.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/12/2020 09:38

Is it still safe to buy now?

They're still being advertised for sale. I also get THE ONLY BRAS THAT FIT from there HmmHmmHmm

Glitterblue · 01/12/2020 09:39

Oh no, is it? That's where I get all mine too, I've only just discovered theirs in the last 18 months and it's the only place I've ever found where the bras are truly comfy as well as affordable.

zigaziga · 01/12/2020 09:39

Buy loads now from Debenhams and store them away?

kittykarate · 01/12/2020 09:40

Well definitely splurge now while there is still stock of the styles you love.

Getting cheap(er) large nork bras can take some legwork but they are out there. At a 36H I used to buy on ebay, brastop.com and by digging around on Amazon as some sizes/colours can be radically cheaper than rrp.

SoddingWeddings · 01/12/2020 09:43

Another vote for Brastop - they also do excellent sales.

I'm a 44F these days, and most recently have bought mine in M&S for a wonder.

ContadoraExplorer · 01/12/2020 09:49

Bravissimo, Figleaves and Bra Stop - all good.

When we're not in lockdown, Bravissimo have physical shops if you need to get measured or just try on different styles without the hassle of returns.

Mochudubh · 01/12/2020 09:53

I know how you feel OP. I bought a great bra in BHS and before I could get any more they went bust (pun intended)! It's falling to bits now but I've never found anything so comfy in a 38G.

Will try brastop.

RozHuntleysStump · 01/12/2020 09:55

I’m a 38g. I get mine from next. The fantasie bras are really good.

LittleMissNaice · 01/12/2020 09:56

I've had some decent, reasonably priced bras from Asda of all places.

Same here! Their DD+ range is very good quality for the price. I comfy have t-shirt bras from there that have lasted years.
Luciferthecat666 · 01/12/2020 10:09

I know how you feel OP I used to get my bras from Debenhams because they cater for my big size too. I'm gutted about it to be honest because Debenhams bras were comfortable, the straps didn't dig in, they were reasonably priced and as a bonus looked very nice. I tried Marks and Spencer and paid more than I did at Debenhams and the wire came out and they were so tight it felt like cheese wire cutting into me will never buy from them again that's for sure. God knows where I'll go now Sad

KEA321 · 01/12/2020 10:10

Same here! Glad to read Fantasie bras can be found elsewhere. Debenhams bwas always my go to place for big boob bras!

Dunnes Stores, a reliable Irish staple, deliver to the UK.

That's because M&S miss out FF cup size so you need to go up a cup size from there if yours is larger.

There is also that M&S sizing and measuring is shit.

DemolitionBarbie · 01/12/2020 10:18

Watch out for the sales on figleaves etc. Ebay often has bras that have been worn once or twice then go for a song.

Also measure yourself on boob or bust and check that you are the size you think you are - that might be why you find other bras uncomfortable.

Bras should provide support by taking the weight around the back band, so in a perfect world you would not need thick shoulder straps.

Bras are about the most complex garments you can make, they're very fiddly. I know they cost a lot but there's a reason! Plus it's a garment that can make you look much better and feel more comfortable - you can't say that for many clothes.

Just my two-penneth. I'm a K cup so I don't have the option of the supposedly big sizes in department stores anyway. Sigh!

muddyford · 01/12/2020 10:18

I recommend Shock Absorber sports bras, bought via Amazon. They are expensive but they last. I found Marks and Spencer bras gave me a rounded pyramid on my chest and the hooks failed in less than a week. I have also tried Syrokan sports bras but although they come in lovely colours and look more like a normal bra, I wouldn't want to do much more than walk in them as they don't support the girls as well as SA.

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 01/12/2020 10:23

When I measured my self on Boob or Bust, it came out as 26D. That ain’t gonna work.

listsandbudgets · 01/12/2020 10:25

Oh no all my bras are from Debenhams. They are the only ones I've ever found that fit well and / or aren't a totally stupid price

Gutted for the 12000 people potentially losing their jobs in the run up to Christmas, what horrible news. Also selfishly upset about losing my source of bras :(

Leafylife · 01/12/2020 10:30

Another vote for brastop - lots of choice in larger cup sizes, good customer service and free returns.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/12/2020 10:35

I've just stocked up on 8 of my favourite bras from Debenhams - it says on the website trading as normal

That should keep me going for a year or so until I find a new bra Hmm

I hate ALL OTHER bras - I reckon I've tried all of them

LoveandHateWhatABeautifulComb · 01/12/2020 10:38

Dunnes are rubbish for large sizes. They hardly do any big ones and the ones that they do are shite.

raspberryk · 01/12/2020 10:39

I also discovered ASDA bras in a similar size , I ordered a loads in various styles and sizes either side of my boob or bust measurement and found loads that fit I was spoilt for choice!
