...to wonder where I'll buy my bras now?

Being amply endowed when it comes to norkage, I struggle to find bras that fit, are comfortable and don't cost a bloody fortune.

For 20-odd years I've been buying Debenhams own brand of big tits bras. They fit (although sizing can be inconsistent between styles), are comfortable (have wide straps which don't dig in) and wash and wear well. And they are bloody reasonably priced for the quality - a pack of 2 t-shirt bras is around £16.

Debenhams is now officially in receivership, so what other retailer does comfy bras for the large of breat at a reasonable price? Bravissimo, Figleaves etc are much more expensive, supermarket bras generally have skinny straps that dig in to my shoulders and M&S bras are really weird in big sizes (they seem to think that big tits cover a larger area of chest, whereas I carry all before me, so an M&S bra that accommodates my boobs has cups that go right round into my armpits).

I'm devastated and think I'll bulk buy every 36G and 36GG on their website while I can.

I travel an hour to go here after my friend recommended her if you live nearby

HOkieCOkie · 02/12/2020 20:53

Marks and Spencer’s

Luciferthecat666 · 02/12/2020 21:53

@MrsPnut Yeah I'm more than aware of how bad M&S are for measuring I went there many times to get measured and on the last time I went there they told me I was a 38/40D. I was suffering shoulder and back aches and a friend told me there was no way I was a D cup and suggested I go to Debenhams to get measured as they measure you properly by your back (M&S were going by cup size). Well went to Debenhams and the bra fitter was absolutely brilliant she told me straight away I wasn't a D cup measured me and tried two different sizes until I felt comfortable and found out I was in fact an F cup! No wonder I was having back and shoulder aches Hmm she then got me different styles of bras to try on until I found one that suited me and advised on adjusting straps and the comfort and support I got from wearing Debenhams bras was well worth the money! Now I'm gonna have to find somewhere else that isn't M&S to get measured, I've heard Anne Summers are quite good so will give them a try but Debenhams will always be my favourite go to place for measuring and buying bras

MrsPnut · 02/12/2020 22:21

@Luciferthecat666 Now you know how a good bra is supposed to fit then you don’t really need measuring. I’d just try bras on and learn how the sister sizes work. If you go down a cup size then going up a back size is the sister size.

I wore Fantasies for years, now Bravissimo. Bras tend to last me for years though, I only ever hand wash, so they never break or get wires poking through, eventually they just wear out! DD got bras from Debenhams for a while but the quality was awful, the cups always collapsed, so she now goes to Bravissimo too. We are both very small of back and large of nork, so very limited in our choice.

KatharinaRosalie · 03/12/2020 09:59

Ebay has currently close to 6000 new bras in 36G, also very nice brands, same ones Bravissimo or Figleaves sell

nosswith · 03/12/2020 10:21

Interesting your comment on VAT on bras. Perhaps a campaign now we have left the EU?

Womencanlift · 03/12/2020 10:55

I wish I had known that Debenhams were so good, bra shopping is a nightmare! I actually have a few from Matalan that are fine.

Although as working from home has gone on longer and comfort is my every day dress code now, I have started wearing Asda’s supported crop tops. Really comfy, not as restricting as a sports bra but definitely for in the house only (but that’s only because I personally wouldn’t be comfortable going outside without a proper bra on)

Baws · 04/12/2020 01:23

I am glad I’m not the only one gutted about this. The Debenhams gorgeous bra range are the only style I like. I’m devastated! I’m in a massive cup size that can only be bought online except for a few places that charge you over £40 per bra. Can anyone recommend a brand with a fit similar to the Debenhams gorgeous balcony bra?

John Lewis has always been the cheapest option for big cup bras for me.

I’m a 36K and buy all mine from Brastop- they have sales on most of the time 😁

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 04/12/2020 01:49

Recently bought some 38E bras on eBay v cheaply - but just visited BraStop website and they look really good, have bookmarked it.

I felt the same when BHS disappeared - they sold The Perfect Socks. I had dozens of pairs, all the same colour. Have only just found a brand and style that I like almost as much.

Not a reliable supply, but TK Maxx can be quite good for heavily discounted bras in non standard sizes; lots of Triumph.

Baws · 05/12/2020 13:40

@Lorw I haven’t tried there. I will have a look 😊

Baws · 05/12/2020 14:20

@GrumpyHoonMain
I suppose it depends what you classify as big cups though. Some people think a DD is huge, bless! 😂 Like most other high street retailers John Lewis don’t really cater for anything larger than an H cup. I just had a look and they had had one bra in my size and it looked like something you might find in my gran’s underwear drawer.

I’m a 32GG. John Lewis has always been the cheapest and nicest option for me.

Excellent idea!

We need a slogan though. How about "Stop taxing our tits"?

@GrumpyHoonMain
Sorry I think I must have confused you. I am talking about larger than GG. Most high street stores cater for up to an H cup but not for larger than that. Trust me, I looked on their website and the only 36JJ bra they had was hideous! 😢

Baws · 05/12/2020 22:36

😂😂

Baws · 05/12/2020 22:37

@LakieLady
😂😂😂

Gurufloof · 05/12/2020 22:39

Well shit, you just reminded me my best fitting bras are from debenham. I could just fucking cry now.

Legoandloldolls · 05/12/2020 22:47

Stock up now from Debenhams. I like Asda ones but they vary so wildly in size between styles. I the before time (PC - pre covid) you could try a few over your bra and then know that style was fine for sizing. If not I order a few and send the misfits back.

Unfortunately it's back to trail and error and pot luck
