Boyfriend thinks I'm lying about being pregnant

Sillylemonade1 · 30/11/2020 18:25

I did a pregnancy test this afternoon and I got the faintest line ever, but there's still a line and its with an frer so a decent test. Messaged boyfriend and told him, he was really happy despite it being unplanned.

He comes in from work, I show him and explain its really faint but a line is a line at the end of the day. And he just scoffs at me and says he can't see anything, and says oh so I'm not pregnant then.

I got quite upset and that's what I want to know is am I being unreasonable to be upset by his comment, it was just how he laughed at me and I feel like he's making it out that I've lied, or that I'm seeing things. I've had a cry about it but its really bugged me.

Im obviously doing another test in the morning and that should show a little more although I don't know how much more it would be visible.

@nimbuscloud

Does your boyfriend know that you are not using hormonal contraceptives?
This
ASimpleLobsterHat · 30/11/2020 20:08

I think natural conception was a Freudian slip Grin If your periods are all over the place anyway then that method was always going to be highly risky.

HavelockVetinari · 30/11/2020 20:08

Natural cycles is NOT a reliable form of contraception if your periods are not regular! You should NOT be using just that if you/your DP don't want a baby.

Assuming you're not pregnant, you need to either start using condoms or get a diaphragm, the pill, the depo or an implant.

knittingaddict · 30/11/2020 20:10

Why on earth would you try natural contraception if your periods aren't predictable? If you are having to do random pregnancy tests it doesn't sound like you are charting your cycle properly or at all? Are you? You sound very young and irresponsible. How old are you?

slashlover · 30/11/2020 20:10

I had been using a natural conception its called 'natural cycles' which tells you what days are safe and not safe to have sex by your temp but quite clearly that has not worked for me

That's not contraception.

ImFree2doasiwant · 30/11/2020 20:11

OP , this I had been using a natural conception its called 'natural cycles' which tells you what days are safe and not safe to have sex by your temp but quite clearly that has not worked for me is akin to not using contraception. Or, in other words TTC.

rastas · 30/11/2020 20:11

@knittingaddict she's 23. She said on her other post

Sillylemonade1 · 30/11/2020 20:12

Yes he knew that I was using that. They explained it so that when your temp spikes then you are ovulating/due to ovulate and those were the days we would avoid.

And to those who commented about me telling him by text, he was fine with it, I said I have some news but do you want to wait till later or me say now, and he then came back with are you pregnant, and his reaction was absolutely fine, so the telling him over text part has been explained to you all now, it was fine lol

My dp's used natural contraception ( the rhythm method).
I'm one of 6. Grin

rastas · 30/11/2020 20:12

@Sillylemonade1 does he have any children?

Sillylemonade1 · 30/11/2020 20:14

@ImFree2doasiwant we were avoiding ovulation days, how is that ttc?

So tell me, how well do you feel your "natural contraception " is working?

AlrightTreacle · 30/11/2020 20:15

OP you are going to get a bashing on here for saying that you track your cycles as contraception, and don't have a regular cycle to track in the first place. If you are 23 then you have many more fertile years ahead, and if you genuinely don't want any more pregnancies for the foreseeable future then you need to look at some form of more reliable contraception. Or your boyfriend needs to wear a condom.

Sillylemonade1 · 30/11/2020 20:16

@MawkishHawk wait is someone saying that the other post is mine??Confused

Oooof why would they tell you that, that’s not an image you want of your parents is it Shock
rastas · 30/11/2020 20:17

I've never heard of this type of contraception but sperm can live inside the female body for about 5 days prior to ovulation, right?

AlrightTreacle · 30/11/2020 20:18

Up to 7 days.

If your temperature has spiked, you’ve already ovulated. Google BBT charts - the rise shows confirmation of ovulation and you’re most fertile just before that rise, abstaining from sex at the rise makes no difference.
grumpytoddler1 · 30/11/2020 20:21

Bloody Nora OP, you're 23, you already have 2 small children, you've got irregular periods and you were leaving your contraception up to, basically, pure chance?

They sell these things called condoms, you know...

It's not a form of contraception, so it doesn't work for anyone. Not just you.

Nicknacky · 30/11/2020 20:23

So you are 23, 2 children and pregnant to a boyfriend of 7 months after not using contraception?! What’s the rush?

And maybe I’m old fashioned but don’t give life changing news by text.
