Vaccine announcement was delayed to scupper Trump’s second term

This is what Donald Trump is claiming. And I have to say, I’m no fan of Trump but the timing does seem very convenient. AIBU to think his suspicions may have some grounds?

yeeeeeah im not convinced you're worried at all about 'big pharma' when you're supporting a political party and man who are especially open to lobbying and mad about deregulation for billionaires and corporations

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 24/11/2020 22:58

dong

I do not believe that the vaccine was delayed to scupper trumps chances

Just because I believe that does not mean that i am happy for big business to influence elections

Dongdingdong · 24/11/2020 22:58

when you're supporting a political party and man

Where did I say I was supporting him? As usual this thread has just descended into the usual flurry of posts by people who are incapable of thinking in anything but black and white.

@RufustheSniggeringReindeer fair enough. But why don’t you believe it?

Shit now i have to agree with dong

At no time did they say they like trump, just that they don’t like the idea of big business influencing elections

PhoebeSnow · 24/11/2020 23:00

FFS the man is an arse! Who really gives a flying fuck what he thinks or says ?!!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 24/11/2020 23:01

That is a very interesting website Rubicon

I KNEW Nicolas Cage was dodgy. (Always trust your gut).

TheUnimaginable · 24/11/2020 23:01

@Dongdingdong

Were you equally as perturbed by the claims of Russian influence to get Trump into power?

Absolutely. Were you?

This thread suggests otherwise
@RufustheSniggeringReindeer fair enough. But why don’t you believe it?
Because its too obvious...

And because i am completely and utterly unable to believe anything that comes out of that mans mouth

He lies about everything

Shit I’m getting deja vue
cbt944 · 24/11/2020 23:02

I doubt it; but if it was, good.

That awful man is greatly responsible, through his messaging of outright lies about the virus and general inaction, for the unnecessary and cruel deaths of more than 220,000 people.

jessstan1 · 24/11/2020 23:03

I doubt it being as he is financially involved in the research and manufacture of one of the vaccines. Nobody was going to hang on to that information any longer than they had to, it just wasn't ready at election time and would have made no difference to the voting anyway. He really is scraping the barrel.

Wow, it’s been a while since we had a good old fashioned Trump conspiracy theorist on here.

I hear the cherry blossoms in Minsk are lovely at this time of year, are they not, comrade?

MrsMichaelPalin · 24/11/2020 23:05

And I have to say, I’m no fan of Trump but

Yeah, right and the rest of us came down in the last shower.

showmethegin · 24/11/2020 23:07

It's irrelevant that he was saying 4 weeks ago that the vaccine was going to be announced in a couple of weeks. He's been saying that for the last 6 months.

It's like me saying everyday "it's going to rain tomorrow" and it doesn't, then when it does 6 months later" saying "see, I said it was going to rain!"

TheKeatingFive · 24/11/2020 23:08

I’d say he’s right. He wanted vaccine news before the election, to have a good news story for voters. He was pretty clear on that.

But Pfizer don’t dance to his time. It’s entirely up to them what they announce and when.

Dongdingdong · 24/11/2020 23:08

Yeah, right and the rest of us came down in the last shower.

Ah, that explains it.

Saving the world from a global pandemic does not revolve around Donald trunk

ILoveYoga · 24/11/2020 23:09

Sorry, grump, not trunk

ILoveYoga · 24/11/2020 23:09

Eeegads, bloody trump

QuickGetTheEggplants · 24/11/2020 23:09

Terrible idea for a pharmaceutical company to delay their announcement. It's basic game theory. Even if a company decided to delay their announcement to influence the election (they wouldn't) they would have to trust all their rivals to also do the same.

And if just one company decided to announce before the election, they would have the benefit of being the "winner" by a large margin and get all the free advertising of being a talking point of the election.

Then that company could also use the opportunity to advertise their other products (they can do that in the US).

"Get back to riding bicycles in the spring with Whateverstatin the new drug from Pharmaceutical Company, creator of the only Covid vaccine with promising results. You can trust us. We walked hand in hand with Donald Trump to save the world" And then there's an eagle.

Dongdingdong · 24/11/2020 23:10

Maybe, @showmethegin. I’m not sure if he’s made those claims before but if he did then you have a point. Although he wouldn’t be the only politician to do that. Which is why I remain sceptical of Boris’s assertion that we’ll all be back to normal by Easter.

He did op. Many times. It might have been lost between him suggesting injecting bleach and shining "strong lights" at peoples bodies to cure Covid.
