So DD 7 is absolutely desperate for this necklace from a local jewellery shop ( she saw it when I was looking for something else ) I ignored it and carried in thinking she would forget about it BUT She didn’t she has consistently asked for it.
“Mummy I will be careful, I will look after it “ 🤣
Anyway I have finished her xmas shop etc and I didn’t buy her it.
I however been given money from both sets of grandparents For both DC to get them something which comes to 150.00.
Do I buy her it despite the fact I think it’s ridiculous for a necklace for a 7 year old but the one thing she really wants ?

Glad you got it, OP Smile

Thank you to everyone who recommended initial necklaces. Off to Google them!

I still have a couple of bits I got as a child, one of which I detest but cannot give away because it was a gift.

Glad you got it for her

When she grows out of it, make sure you keep it for her. I would be really touched now if Mum gave me that back (I'm 40) and would then hand it on to my daughter.

My parents gave me back my big yellow teapots couple of years ago. I was incredibly touched that they'd kept it! I'm 39!

OP I sent you a link to a cheap copy but I'm actually glad you bought the actual one.

When my kids were little I loved making their wishes come true at Christmas. It makes it very special for you and them. The money was there so why not 😊

Buy it!! She will never grow out of it, its good practice for her to have something expensive to keep safe and if she wants it that badly she will. It could be a lovely memory for her that she could potentially keep forever. If she loses it a lesson is learnt. Make it clear your expectations, its much better than all the plastic tat that gets thrown away every year!

I’m really glad you’ve got it for her, especially as a lovely keepsake from her DGF.
I’m over 40 and I’d wear it!

LoveMyKidsAndCats · 24/11/2020 18:52

I would buy it.

When I was 7 my dad had a win on the pools and bought me a gold charm bracelet and every year since a gold charm. I had links added and wear it when I see him, and he terminally ill at the mo and due to covid I can’t visit so it’s even more precious

Fluffybutter · 24/11/2020 20:21

I would.
Dh bought dd a lovely adjustable Pandora necklace with a dumbo and feather charm when she was 8 and she takes very good care of it and keeps it for best .

@Whattheactual20201 I used to work for the retailer in question and while not to everyone's tastes, their jewellery is very well made and they had a brilliant customer service team when I worked for them.

I hope your daugher loves her necklace.
