To object to biscuits being served at NCT coffee mornings ?

I've just started going to my local NCT coffee mornings and I'm surprised to find that at all of the 5 or so homes I've been in all the kids are getting biscuits whilst the mums have coffee and cake.
I know I'll probably end up hosting one of these things one morning but I dont like the idea of providing sweet stuff for the under 2's. Wouldnt dried fruit or rice cakes be more appropriate ???

I'm sure all the under-twos will be delighted with their dried fruit whilst they watch their mothers tuck into cake

As long as you don't offer them a fruit shoot

mamazon · 18/10/2007 23:11

HUNXXXX · 18/10/2007 23:11

LOLOLOLOLOL

Beenleigh · 18/10/2007 23:11

Aw come on, I felt like this with DD1, but not any more. It's nice to feel that their little bodies are temples, but I guarantee you will look back on this with a when you have another child!!

nappyaddict · 18/10/2007 23:11

we have cheesy flapjacks or cheese straws or breadsticks with hummus

TellusMater · 18/10/2007 23:12

In fact, should you be serving coffee and cakes to the over 2s? Water and rice cakes all round I reckon.

pointydog · 18/10/2007 23:13

cheesy flapjacks??

ScaremyVile · 18/10/2007 23:13

My god, where are all these threads coming from the last couple of days?!

Who are these people who are so utterly offended by biscuits?

Thank fuck I dont know them.

virgo · 18/10/2007 23:13

..is this for real...
Bring on the rice cakes - oh yum yum

Beenleigh · 18/10/2007 23:13

for a snack today DD1 had some celery

WanderingTrolley · 18/10/2007 23:13

Giving an under-2 a biscuit every now and then is traditionally referred to as a "treat" and is unlikely to induce instant obesity.

It really isn't a big deal. If you don't want to serve biscuits/cake, of course that's your prerogative, but be prepared to find others do not share either your view or your rice cakes.

Sorry.

pipsqueak · 18/10/2007 23:14

snigger!

pointydog · 18/10/2007 23:16

ah, substitute all sugar for cheese. I see

harpsichordcarrier · 18/10/2007 23:16

if you think the mums can eat cake and the two year olds get raisins - you must have a different sort of two year old to me but anyway if you object then you can just say no

onlygirlinthehouse · 18/10/2007 23:17

this thread has to be a wind up, either that or I am going to give up on ms altogether, I dont think I belong here, and I'm off to eat a hob nob to get over it.

TellusMater · 18/10/2007 23:18

My two year old would have turned up her nose at biscuits let alone rice cakes if cake were in the picture.
