To ask DP to stop farting on the new sofa?

Not the most pleasant topic but our last sofa was really stinky where my DP sat (same spot all the time). Every time he sat down there’s be a woosh of stale fart/cabbage smell & I could smell it at other times too. I hate it! I’m pregnant as well so I can smell everything even more now!

The new sofa is starting to go the same way I’ve asked him to stop farting on the sofa & to plump up the cushion & flip it occasionally but he’s not too happy about this! 😁

Anyone else have the same issue? Any ideas too for how to combat this? The sofa has been treated with anti stain stuff so I don’t think we’re meant to wipe it down. I also tried febreeze sprays on the last sofa but it didn’t cut it.

I don't believe that a lover's farts are generally appealing, no matter how besotted you may be.

He may not be able to help it. Some people are prone to these problems. I doubt it's always a sign of a poor diet.

Maybe the Febreeze would help if you started early (now, before it becomes more of a problem) and used other tactics. Flip the cushion, vacuum it every so often, stick a pleasantly scented sachet or fabric softener sheet under his cushion. Maybe drape a nice, soft blanket over the sofa on his side. If it's a very soft, plush blanket, maybe he won't object and move it.

Not one of them smelt randomly of farts. What smells of farts, is farts! Not complicated

That aside, OP, I suspect it's pregnancy that's making you hyper-sensitive to smells. I was when I was pregnant with DC2 (I couldn't open the bathroom cupboard without throwing up - it had never had a discernible smell before I was pregnant, and never had one again afterwards).

Ewww! I flip my cushions over regularly. Tbh DP doesn't fart in front of me after he did it one time and it stunk so bad I was gagging and almost sick.
I hate people farting in front of me anyway. It's so vulgar!

My dad has done this to every sofa. He always has one spot he sits on. And he spends hours on it.

I used to have to air and febreeze my car because I'm windy.

I'd have thought OP would be likely to wear sanitary pads to prevent staining. And clothes. Quite frankly, if she decided to sit nude on the sofa in full flow, covering it in blood, I'd say her DP would be well within his rights to insist on covering the sofa in something. Though I'd probably go with those disposable changing mats from Pampers rather than puppy pads.

So will he have to stand up every time he needs to fart now ? Do you think he'll announce it or just do it

My dad was an alcoholic and the small bathroom he preferred actually got ingrained with the smell because of repeated 'bowel events'.

Fart and pheromones are 2 different things so I'm not buying it's his sex smell.
I'd say if it's that bad then his diet needs looked at.

My Dh can fart for England but rarely smells.
Yes, passing wind is natural but not that noxious.
