Are they just relaxing restrictions on pubs or are we totally coming out of lockdown?

@TokyoSushi

We're in the NW so likely back to T3, but joy of joys, the tiers are being strengthened with more restrictions.

As I said on another thread, yet more time stuck at home, away from friends and nights out, businesses going to the wall, all for the benefit of seeing MIL at Christmas, fabulous. 😒

I'm sick of it all today.

Yep. This 💯
TokyoSushi · 21/11/2020 23:32

Oh I do hope so @andadietcoke I'm usually much more positive, but I'm done today!

The gameshow/tier lottery is exactly right!

Mango101 · 21/11/2020 23:36

@Ilovegreentomatoes

Heard the cases are going down? Or rather the R number is creeping down?
I think R 1 to 1.1. So stronger lockdown needed if the aim is to get cases/deaths down Shock
quarentini · 21/11/2020 23:39

I think everywhere will be tier 3 with tougher measures thrown in.
I would rather have a quiet Xmas

totalburnout · 21/11/2020 23:41

I think we will be back to tiers but the non-essential shops will re open I think.

AlwaysLatte · 21/11/2020 23:41

Back into (strict) tiers at the very least, I hope!

Ilovemypantry · 21/11/2020 23:44

@Dustballs

Why are we all waiting passively waiting to obey our next set of instructions?

What will we do if we strongly disagree with them?

How long are we going to follow our orders like robots?

Is this not making you feel angry?

How do we use that anger in a proactive way - to bring about change?

Answers to your questions-:
  1. Because we don’t know whether the “R” no, is coming down yet
  2. Follow the rules anyway, disagreeing with them doesn’t mean you can ignore them
  3. Until the virus has gone or we can all get vaccinated
  4. No point in feeling angry...it is what it is
  5. Don’t know how to bring about change to a world pandemic
AcornAutumn · 21/11/2020 23:50

@pennypinchh

Not tiers again! :( Effectively not coming out of lockdown if you're in tier 3, then
Oh no....they’re looking at Tier 4. It will just be a new name for lockdown.
MinecraftMother · 21/11/2020 23:51

Don't worry. No matter what happens they'll tell us in good time, clearly and across all easily accessible platforms.

They defo won't fudge it behind a privately owned newspaper's firewall, nope.

Tana433 · 21/11/2020 23:54

My daughter lives in an assisted living facility, she is 28 but has special needs. She goes to stay with her dad and his family every xmas eve until day after Boxing Day and then comes to mine New Years Eve until 2nd January. Has anything been said about us locking down over New Year, i dont want her to be on her own?. She is in Wales, i am in England if it makes a difference.

FatGirlShrinking · 21/11/2020 23:58

My area is flicking up and down between 450-550 cases per 100,000 so not expecting any great reduction in current restrictions tbh, we were tier 2 before lockdown but expecting tier 3 on Thursday.

MillyA · 22/11/2020 00:00

I guess gyms won't be opening for a long time then, that's me out of work with no furlough.

Merry Christmas Sad

Nousernameforme · 22/11/2020 00:02

What is making me angry is the media wanting to be first with any bloody scrap of unimportant "news" and then we are all left speculating and worrying without knowing what's going on.

Why can't they just shut up until there is something worth reporting.

user127819 · 22/11/2020 00:03

I suspect they will introduce another tier which is functionally the same as lockdown but not called lockdown. Much of the country will go into that tier i.e still in lockdown, but some parts might be in lower tiers.

This is worth reporting.

If you want to be angry with anyone, be angry with the government for leaking it.

FatGirlShrinking · 22/11/2020 00:10

I'm working on the assumptions all the dark maroon/purple 400+ areas will be highest tier.

I'm in Leicester, we're never coming out of lockdown, it will be 2032 the whole of the rest of the country will be vaccinated, having street parties and Leicester will still be under additional restrictions. We've not been able to socialise indoors with another household since beginning of lockdown 1.0 back in March. We're still in the 400+ bracket.

So are we now definitely coming out of lockdown on Dec 2nd?
Inkpaperstars · 22/11/2020 00:24

If they are going to loosen things dramatically over 22-28 December as suspected, then we will pay a big price for it bothr before and after in the form of restrictions.

Goldistheanswer · 22/11/2020 00:29

If they ease restrictions now and until after Christmas, surely cases will rise again and we’re all back to square one! The R rate in my area is 1.1 to 1.3 currently which is not good at all. Bojo doesn’t seem to have a clue.

TheDowagerDuchess · 22/11/2020 00:30

It's clearly government policy to leak it to their favourite journalists first so anger isn't directed at the government when they formally announce things.

This says that the info is from the PM's Office

greyhills · 22/11/2020 00:42

We were in Tier 1 before, whether we go back to that or not is anyone's guess.

Witchend · 22/11/2020 00:57

We're going up rapidly in our area, but are still lower than my parents' area which is coming down even more rapidly.
It'll be interesting to see if they're in a higher tier than us.
