Are they just relaxing restrictions on pubs or are we totally coming out of lockdown?

Tier 3 is basically what we have now.I wonder if tier 2 will remain the same or be worse? I was previously in a tier 2 area hope that doesn't change.

WhentheDealGoesDown · 21/11/2020 23:10

I’m hoping for tier 2 also, we are about 150-250/100,000 in our area and dropping a bit

Ilovegreentomatoes · 21/11/2020 23:11

Heard the cases are going down? Or rather the R number is creeping down?

PurpleDaisies · 21/11/2020 23:11

The tiers won’t be the same as before. They’re going to be tougher.

doctorhamster · 21/11/2020 23:13

We were on the verge of going into tier 3 before lockdown so it'll be interesting to see where we end up.

travailtotravel · 21/11/2020 23:13

It will be tiers. Announcement on Monday about the plans, I think?

TokyoSushi · 21/11/2020 23:14

We're in the NW so likely back to T3, but joy of joys, the tiers are being strengthened with more restrictions.

As I said on another thread, yet more time stuck at home, away from friends and nights out, businesses going to the wall, all for the benefit of seeing MIL at Christmas, fabulous. 😒

I'm sick of it all today.

Ilovegreentomatoes · 21/11/2020 23:14

Honestly if tiers get tougher we may as well give up now as most of the small businesses/shops will be gone forever.

Nottherealslimshady · 21/11/2020 23:14

Back to tiers again it would seem. Not surprising really.

TokyoSushi · 21/11/2020 23:15

Yes, big reveal of the 'COVID winter plan' on Monday, find out what tier you're in on Thursday.

Ilovegreentomatoes · 21/11/2020 23:15

I'd rather sacrifice a week at Christmas and have less restrictions now.

MiaMarshmallows · 21/11/2020 23:15

DP and I live apart in different areas. I so hope I can travel down to spend Christmas week with him.

studychick81 · 21/11/2020 23:16

Just said back to tiers and tougher tiers in place. I would rather not have Christmas than have tougher lockdown before and after too. It's only one day.

Dustballs · 21/11/2020 23:17

Why are we all waiting passively waiting to obey our next set of instructions?

What will we do if we strongly disagree with them?

How long are we going to follow our orders like robots?

Is this not making you feel angry?

How do we use that anger in a proactive way - to bring about change?

TicTacTwo · 21/11/2020 23:19

Have a feeling we'll be going from tier 1 to tier 2 as the cases per 100,000 are much higher than pre-lockdown

Hoping that he's not announcing a free for all over Xmas as rumoured last week (what about the New Year)? Don't want a lockdown in Jan.

PurpleDaisies · 21/11/2020 23:20

I totally agree. The thought of a strict January lockdown because of Christmas is dreadful.
WhentheDealGoesDown · 21/11/2020 23:24

There is mention of a framework until spring and furlough is until then.

TicTacTwo · 21/11/2020 23:25

Dustballs - plenty of people dgaf about the rules and are doing their own thing. People want to know the rules because they affect livelihoods. I'm hoping that non-essential retailers can reopen so that people can go back to their jobs

Sarahandco · 21/11/2020 23:25

The name of lockdown will be changed to something different sounding on December the 4th

andadietcoke · 21/11/2020 23:28

I'm cautiously optimistic - case numbers have dropped much more in the NW than other areas, presumably because we had tier 3 for a good few weeks before this lockdown. But our hospitals are doing less well...
Dustballs · 21/11/2020 23:28

TicTAcTwo - I know. I want to know what the new rules will be too.

I'm angry. Sorry. The questions are to myself as much as anyone else.

I so want to use this anger in a way to be heard. This all feels too much now. I feel controlled by idiots and am furious that we're all being forced to live in this way.

Haplap · 21/11/2020 23:28

They've predictably wasted this time and test and trace hasn't improved. They'll keep lockdown going through tiers then announce a Christmas saver school lockdown two weeks prior to Christmas. There will be another wave before the vaccines kick in because they're making no effort to improve track and trace.

TheCanyon · 21/11/2020 23:29

There's not a chance we'll be out of lockdown. I'm waiting for the daily mail but and kill a granny special.

pennypinchh · 21/11/2020 23:30

They're making it like a gameshow - tune in on Thursday to find out whether you've won the tier lottery

BBC breaking news seems to be suggesting tighter restrictions than before when this lockdown ends but a significant relaxation for a few days over Christmas, which seems bonkers to me.
