What do you think next year will look like?

OP posts:
Loveable1 · 21/11/2020 18:47

Hopefully a lot better then this one Grin

justleavemebe · 21/11/2020 18:48

I'm hoping to wake up on New Year's Day and find that this was all a dream 💭

Sickofmysalary · 21/11/2020 18:48

The first half will probably look quite similar to this year I think but hopefully the latter half will feel more normal.

BlueThistles · 21/11/2020 18:49

it can't get any worse... surely 😱

LagneyandCasey · 21/11/2020 18:52

A positive year I think. Mass vaccinations to get a real grip on the virus with the aim of getting it down to manageable levels similar to seasonal flu. Then a rebuilding the economy and people's lives and jobs. Obviously that will take much longer than a year but a step in the right direction.

And a holiday would be nice 🤞

sapnupuas · 21/11/2020 18:54

I'm genuinely concerned that people seem to think 2021 will magically be better than this year when it's likely to much the same.

nancybotwinbloom · 21/11/2020 18:55

Same as this probably but maybe a bit better because of the vaccine?

BogRollBOGOF · 21/11/2020 18:55

Continue to be a hard winter. Hopefully restrictions should ease through the spring as respiritory virus rates plummet naturally (and has happened globally with seasons this year) and hopefully a hell of a lot quicker than this year. I can see many more outdoor events this spring/ summer albeit with reduced capacities, but hopefully vaccinations through the most vulnerable in the population will mean a much better autumn/ winter than this year.

Gobbledygook20 · 21/11/2020 18:57

It would be lovely to go to a concert.

user1915482548253840 · 21/11/2020 18:57

What is your AIBU?

nosswith · 21/11/2020 18:59

I think it depends on the vaccine roll-out. Hopeful for the second half of the year so I can have the visits to family abroad I have not had.

TokyoSushi · 21/11/2020 19:00

I think it'll get progressively better from the Spring 🤞🏻

Sparklingbrook · 21/11/2020 19:01

Much the same as this one. Anything better will be a bonus but manage your expectations of any improvements on 1/1/21.

amusedtodeath1 · 21/11/2020 19:03

A tough start gradually easing, a hopefully glorious summer with beer gardens and BBQs, holidays and general normality, but we will all appreciate it much more.

OwletteGeckoCatboy · 21/11/2020 19:05

I think the first 6 months will still be the same but I do have hope for after that with the rumoured vaccinations.

Daisy829 · 21/11/2020 19:08

I agree with @LagneyandCasey I think by next summer it will be much much better and eventually this virus will be managed in a similar way we manage the flu.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 21/11/2020 19:08

@sapnupuas

I'm genuinely concerned that people seem to think 2021 will magically be better than this year when it's likely to much the same.
There's no 'magically' about it. Stop implying people who think 2021 will be better, are stupid!

It's obnoxious.

@Denthelp

The various vaccines off hope for next year
The various news treatments offer hope for next year
The various scientists offer hope for next year (when they're usually pessimistic!).

Not reading anything into Boris being optimistic - he'd have been
Optimistic on the Titanic.

But no matter what - we'll have Spring & Summer and im looking forward to that

But the better people behave now, the better next year will be.

What do I think next year will look like!

January lock down similar to now
February/March slightly lifted
April/May more lifting
J/J/A most restrictions lifted but still masks & SD

Hopefully a reasonably 'normal' start to the new school year but with advice to 'be careful'

BUT. We HAVE to keep a lid on it THIS winter.

LagneyandCasey · 21/11/2020 19:12

I don't think anyone actually thinks that, but compared to this year it will be a lot better. We will obviously still have restrictions but we will have a vaccine and businesses in areas such as retail and the leisure industry, who are at breaking point right now, will be able to make plans. There's no reason to think that a year from today we won't be visiting loved ones or going to a show or enjoying something as simple as a swim. That, for me, would be 'magical'
sapnupuas · 21/11/2020 19:12

@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants

It's literally my first comment on the subject.

madamgazellesmate · 21/11/2020 19:16

I'm hoping this is all one big social experiment. ( I don't really think this!) And that on 01/01/2021 we are all going to be debriefed and can go on to live life normally. Blush

HeyDuggeesCakeBadge · 21/11/2020 19:27

To be honest, I think 2021 is going to be an absolute shit show. We have EU Exit and a global pandemic which isn't looking likely to go anywhere any time soon. Maybe towards the end of the year will be slightly better. I'm usually very optimistic about things but 2021, nope.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 21/11/2020 19:28

Well it won't be any worse for me that's a certainty.

Denthelp · 21/11/2020 19:35

@madamgazellesmate that would be amazing.

OP posts:
Denthelp · 21/11/2020 19:36

I have a horrible feeling next year is going to be as disappointing as this one.

OP posts:
Denthelp · 21/11/2020 19:38

@WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants I would have said similar to you before they extended furlough again.
