Trump will destroy everything before 20th January

Now that the transition has started courtesy of Emily Murphy, I'm optimistic that people will just quietly ignore Trump (I hope), unless they are Trump sympathisers.

BruceAndNosh · 24/11/2020 09:06

Hey, has Trump released his healthcare plan yet? I'm sure it was coming "in two weeks" sometime in August.

BruceAndNosh · 24/11/2020 09:11

While the transition if obviously good for Biden Administration, Does the start of transition make any difference to Trump? Can he still do whatever the hell he likes between now and January?

Roussette · 24/11/2020 09:19

Here's another editorial on it with more detail. i have no idea how damaging this is, or whether Biden can reverse some of this.

NBC tweet:

President Trump is worried that his campaign's legal team, which is being led by his personal lawyer Rudy Giuliani, is comprised of "fools that are making him look bad".

I think we may have hit peak irony.

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 24/11/2020 10:29

OK, at this point I start looking seriously for motives, and whose motives they are.

Who benefits by Trump doing his best to destroy as much as he can? And which of his cabal of unspeakables benefits from which bits of it?

BruceAndNosh · 24/11/2020 10:42

The more Trump impedes the Biden presidency, the better placed he will be to swoop in to SAVE AMERICA in 2024

Yes, because all the serious and good lawyers have already left, at some point or another.

Do you mean August 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 or 2020?

Does anyone remember the guys that decided to start building his wall and were accused of "making him look stupid" ?

Has anyone heard the recorded tape conversation of Melania talking to her 'friend'. And she's talking about the response to the children separated from their parents at the border. She says she has to sort out the f* Christmas decorations in the WH and journalists had criticised her for not being able to pressure her husband to stop that policy. She didn't want this Life imo, and she resents it. Clearly she has the Hyde of a rhino being married to that awful man but I suspect she didn't sign up for having to influence his behaviour and police his policies.

Since she renegotiated her prenup as a condition of moving into the White House, I see that as her getting her ducks in a row for having her life sorted the other side of this so she can get out.

Anon778833 · 24/11/2020 11:31

I can't see him being able to run again in 2024. All kinds of things are going to come out between now and then.

DGRossetti · 24/11/2020 11:40

One story I caught last night which seems significant is the suggestion that some Republicans now see Trumps conduct as harming their chances of keeping the Senate

www.rawstory.com/2020/11/republican-pollster-trumps-attitude-over-the-next-six-weeks-may-hurt-gop-chances-of-keeping-senate/

..
According to current NBC News projections, the GOP holds a two-seat advantage in the Senate at 50-48. The remaining two vacancies in Georgia will be decided in run-offs on Jan. 5 in the races of Republican Sen. Kelly Loeffler and Democrat Raphael Warnock, while the other pits incumbent GOP Sen. David Perdue and Democratic challenger Jon Ossoff.
...

I presume there's polling that some of the more moderate Republicans might note vote out of disapproval for Trumps actions and that could actually turn the Senate Democrat ?

'On CNN Monday, conservative commentator S.E. Cupp argued that GOP lawmakers are not just scared of retribution for not standing with outgoing President Donald Trump; they are also scared of having to define what they stand for as a party without him telling them what to believe.'

Roussette · 24/11/2020 11:41

Yes I heard Melania say she hates doing the fucking Christmas tree in the WH

And here she is... there are 4 photos out there with this years christmas tree, it's all about a photo op even thought she hates it all

Mythmakers: The Men Who Created Donald J. Trump.
Mark Burnett, Jeff Zucker, and the Trustwashing of a Fake President.

@Papyrus

Apparently he’s decommissioning the special surveillance planes, so the Biden administration can’t start them up again. Surely this is sabotaging national security and someone should stop him? Where are the checks and balances?
Not just decommissioning, apparently he's ordering the planes to be dismantled and the parts either sold as surplus or destroyed. Typical of a spoilt brat who doesn't want to share or, worse yet, an abusive man who kills his partner rather than let her go; "If I can't have it/her, nobody can".

I don't know what or if can be done. I suppose the 'lower down' people can delay and obstruct the wrecking of the aircraft or the sale of parts.

DGRossetti · 24/11/2020 14:05

If nothing can be done, then there is an argument that the US is deserving what it gets.

Part of the reason we all got here (as the UK isn't a million miles away) is people forgetting the exhortations of the founding fathers.

The price of liberty is eternal vigilance

Trump - and Boris - are what you get when complacency sets in.

Imagine the scene, or better maybe not

Jim Acosta @acosta

Attorneys and advisers huddled with Trump in Oval and on phone Monday, persuading him to begin transition. Factors included Michigan cert news and Giuliani's news conf last Thurs, described by source as "shit show," that led to allies calling Trump to back down, I'm told.

TL;DR

It was someone elses fault

I hope Giuliani has decent protection. I can just see some more motivated Trumpsters deciding he was the problem ....
