First on CNN: GSA tells Biden that transition can formally begin www.cnn.com/2020/11/23/politics/transition-biden-gsa-begin/index.html

Transition can begin!

showmethegin · 23/11/2020 23:20

Sorry @SabrinaThwaite Cross post!

SabrinaThwaite · 23/11/2020 23:24

And almost a concession from Trump.

Yep, it’s all falling apart now. Michigan certifies, GSA caves......

Jason118 · 23/11/2020 23:31

It's not falling apart, it's finally coming togetherSmile

DuncinToffee · 23/11/2020 23:31

ForTheLoveOfFaff

There is no point but they can legally request it so they did.

The Trump campaign requested the recount on Saturday, which is their right by Georgia law because the margin of Joe Biden’s victory is less than 0.5%. The recount will be taxpayer-funded, and will be conducted in each county statewide using high speed ballot scanners

This final recount will start Tuesday 9am and must be finished by midnight Dec 2nd

DuncinToffee · 23/11/2020 23:36

An almost concession will do fine for now

Willowkins · 23/11/2020 23:43

Just popping in from the UK to say:

Finally! I'm so pleased.
I hope America can heal now.

SlartBartFast · 23/11/2020 23:48

I've been really busy with work so have been popping in occasionally to look at this thread and get a quick catch-up. I am so impressed by how up-to-date this has kept me. You are all wonderful.

Off to read the interesting linked articles now. It's nearly 7pm here and I've finally finished work for the day.

@SabrinaThwaite

And almost a concession from Trump.
trumps post sounds a lot like he wants to take credit for Emily finally transfering the funds. As in, he is still in control and deciding what is done rather than the reality being that Emily had to face the House, and the House laid clear her duty (which is to 'our Country' and not trump).

But I could be wrong and maybe he is finally making decent decisions... (mind you it's getting late and I'm prob talking nonsenseGrin)

EveryoneRevealsThemselves · 23/11/2020 23:59

That letter from GSA Emily is so insulting and unprofessional. It’s so self obsessed and I love the way Trump’s tweets immediately prove that her denials that she was taking her cue from him are complete bollox.

PerkingFaintly · 24/11/2020 00:15

I have some sympathy for the head of the GSA because Trump placed her in an impossible situation... just as he's placing the country in an impossible situation.

So I feel there is some justification for her actions and timings. Although given the impact of delays to transition during Covid, and the fact that she does appear to have some discretion, I'm not sure.

It is a whiny letter though!

PerkingFaintly · 24/11/2020 00:17

And yes, Grin at the simultaneous claims to have been responsible for the decision to release funds!

"I gave you the money!"
"No, I gave you the money!"

Anon778833 · 24/11/2020 00:20

Thank goodness for some things going right.

I agree it was unprofessional and whingey. And a crock of shit, "not pressured' my Aunt Fanny. Even if she wasn't 'pressured' (she was) she was sure kissing Scrotus' shiny red baboon ass. I'm sure Biden will just give an eyeroll and a 'Whatever Emily, just release the funds".

I do notice that the funds released are for 'through Dec 11 2020'. I don't know if that's the total or if there is another 'bucket' to be released then.

She's another Trump appointee who will be out of a job come 20 Jan at 1pm EST.

Even the BBC has it Grin:-

Wow, just read Emily's letter, definately a CYA piece of work. Also love the reference to 'no pressure' from trump and co, but those damn Dems have been threatening her when she is giving her all for her country, and how she soldiered on in the face of all these threats to her life. She is so incredibley brave and honourableHmm.

I for one don't feel sorry for her, she thought she could get away with it, and is pissed that she's been reprimanded, and now looks a fool for not doing her job. Lay down with the fleas and all that...

SlartBartFast · 24/11/2020 00:52

Emily was scared of Katie Porter's whiteboard.

Why there's no need to feel sorry for Emily Murphy.

SonjaHeniesTutu · 24/11/2020 00:57

Oop apologies AcrossthePond I just read your post and realize mine basically echos it. Wee one keeps interupting me, so I'm reading the thread piece-meal.

SlartBartFast · 24/11/2020 00:57

It must drive Trump insane that Biden is going to come into power just as the vaccine starts being distributed, and that during Biden's first 6 months in power life in the US is going to start going back to normal.

Such a shame, isn't it? Especially when the vaccine was all Trump's work!

maggiethecat · 24/11/2020 01:14

AcrossthePond55 - I fell asleep and woke earlier to your post. It’s looking increasingly that Scotus won’t be his lapdog. You know things are bad when you start thinking that if any of these spurious cases did make it them they’d find in favour of Cheetos Chump. The man has us seriously spooked 😱

Beginning to breathe a bit easier now that PA and MI have certified and that Emily Whatshername has seen the light.
