Just that really, never had it before but wondering if I should this year. I’m in my 30s.

Yes. NHS do i get it through work. Dc get it too either through school or paid for their choice. One of them had the flu one year when they were outside of the ages done at school and since then have actively wanted the jab.

Scarby9 · 18/11/2020 20:10

No. I'm 59 and have never had it or even considered it until this year. But then I have never had flu either and have been ridiculously impervious to bugs...so far at least.
I have wondered if I should have it this year, but then have heard that there is now a shortage so I feel I should leave what shots there are for those in more danger from flu.

CountFosco · 18/11/2020 20:12

Yeah, get it through work. DH pays privately for his. Two of the DC get it at school, the third is too old for that but too young to easily get it privately.

polkadotpixie · 18/11/2020 20:13

Yes, I get it at work (NHS). I had flu when I was 21 and it put me on my arse for 2 weeks! I dread to think how unpleasant it would be to catch it now I'm 15 years older and have a toddler to look after

MrsMariaReynolds · 18/11/2020 20:14

Yes, last month. I work in a cesspool primary school and the children won't be receiving their flu mists until after Christmas holidays due to "unprecedented lack of availability" locally. Again. Last year, it was late Jan before they all got it.

pincertoe · 18/11/2020 20:18

I had it every year when I worked for the NHS but hadn't for the last five years. This year suddenly I got offered it by my drs so I had it.

TurquoiseDragon · 18/11/2020 20:20

I get it, it's paid for by work. I'm 52 so below the normal age for it to be offered, but I get it as my dad and DB are both vulnerable health wise and I want to help protect them.

Brighterthansunflowers · 18/11/2020 20:21

Yes, I get it free (asthma) and have it most years, I’ve had it this year, luckily booked back in September

CottonHeadedNinyMuggins · 18/11/2020 20:22

Yes. I've been having it for over 10 plus years. I'm having mine on Tuesday - I do get it for free however as I'm a carer.

LloydColeandtheCoconuts · 18/11/2020 20:26

Yes because of athsma but I also work in a SEND school and they offer it there too.

Fluffybutter · 18/11/2020 20:28

Should add I've had flu twice in my life and bloody hell I felt like death and that’s not an exaggeration .
I couldn’t imagine having flu then being unlucky enough to catch covid .
That’s why I’ve paid for it this time , dh gets it free through work .

SelfMadeFantasist · 18/11/2020 20:30

Yes, I pay for it every year to protect both myself and DH.

TidyOmlette · 18/11/2020 20:30

I have it but I’m frontline NHS. There was definitely an increase this year of people taking it

Gilead · 18/11/2020 20:33

Yes, I have a compromised immune system.

trixiebelden77 · 18/11/2020 20:40

Yes. It’s required for my work (ICU). My family also has it. Because unfortunately I have reason to know that healthy ppl in their twenties die on ECMO from flu.

There was a great story in the paper from a hospital in my part of the world about a healthy eight year old who had to have ECMO to survive the flu. She was very lucky - only six months in hospital, and only one amputation as a result of her illness.

But of course if your immune system can be trusted, like one of the PPs.......although I suppose she could always google ‘ECMO’.

Therarestone · 18/11/2020 20:41

Yes, even mild flu will leave you feeling lethargic and like you've been beaten up for weeks

TheDowagerDuchess · 18/11/2020 20:43

Yes I always do!

AGeeseGoose · 18/11/2020 20:45

I get all the advertising emails from Boots which can be a ballache but they do also send the ‘book your flu jab now’ emails at the backend of summer so I book them as soon as I can. DH has the jab too, both of our workplaces pay. Back in 2013 when I was pregnant with DS I didn’t even hear about flu jabs, but I had one in 2016 when I was pregnant with DD and have paid for one every winter since. The DC have their nasal sprays too.

IdblowJonSnow · 18/11/2020 20:47

No. I'm 45. I had it when I worked in school though.
My parents have been jabbed and my kids will have the spray at school in the next week or so.
Other than supermarket I don't see anyone so don't think I need it. Certainly others will need it more than I do.

ShrimpSymphony · 18/11/2020 20:50

Yes every year

VioletCharlotte · 18/11/2020 20:53

Yes, I work for the NHS and we get it for free. I had flu a few years ago and it was horrible.

FatBottomGirl99 · 18/11/2020 21:00

Yes get it.. Flu is awful and as there is cov around to if you were unlucky to get both it doesn't bear thinking about. Takes 2 mins. Book one x

Chesneyhawkes1 · 18/11/2020 21:03

I did this year for the first time

2beautifulbabs · 18/11/2020 21:07

Yes I've had it done and have done ever since I had my DCs I'm in my early 30s no health issue but I have had the flu once in my early 20s and it wiped me out so I don't fancy getting it again especially now I have my DCs I wouldn't have the luxury of being able to stay in bed 😬 and I guess with the worry of Covid I don't fancy trying my luck and ending up get them both at the same time

Recycledblonde · 18/11/2020 21:11

I have it trough work but have paid to have it previously. I had flu in my early 30s and was so ill. Took me a good three months to recover. I’ve had covid this year and flu was at least 10 times worse. I’ll have the covid vaccine too as soon as possible. Again should get it through work.
