Just that really, never had it before but wondering if I should this year. I’m in my 30s.

Tried to get it at local supermarket pharmacy for me and teen DD, they cancelled the appointment the day before due to vaccine shortage and said that the likelihood of us getting another appointment this season was very low as neither of us is in a high risk category.
Oh well, we tried!

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 18/11/2020 19:46

I've always had it (asthmatic), can't get it at all this year, my GP aren't doing anyone under 40 yet & none of the local pharmacies have stock. I had flu early last year, despite the jab, & that was bad enough, I dread to think how poorly I would have been if I hadn't had it.

Hothammock · 18/11/2020 19:47

Never had it and never had flu, neither have my children. If I had contact with vulnerable people at work or socially I would probably have the jab, but we just don't have that kind of contact especially not now in lockdown. In any case older and more vulnerable people have the jab so they are protected. I did work for an organisation that encouraged employees to have the jab but then stopped when everyone started have time off for fluey symptoms, apparently mild flu is a common side effect?! Seemed a bit pointless from a work point of view.

HuntedForest · 18/11/2020 19:48

Yes, I've had it for the past 11 years, (now 40). I would not be able to look after the DC if I got flu.

VestaTilley · 18/11/2020 19:48

Yes but I get it for free on the NHS because I have coeliac disease.

Never had any side effects from the jab.

Wanderdust · 18/11/2020 19:49

I'm 35, this is the first time I've ever got it (paid privately, had it done at a local pharmacy). I know lots of folk my age who did so for the first time too, because of Covid - not that I think that's going to protect me, I just want to keep myself as healthy as possible right now! Incidentally now pregnant too (although I booked before I knew) so even more important.

Mangofandangoo · 18/11/2020 19:50

Yes through work (public services) if I didn't I would pay privately beacause I've had flu once and it was horrendous

Aragog · 18/11/2020 19:51

I get it free die the arthritis medication I take.

We pay for 18y Dd to have it at her request. Have done ever since she came down with flu just before her mock exams in year 10.

wendz86 · 18/11/2020 19:52

I have it most years , my work pay for it. Got it done at tesco this year and work expensed it.

edwinbear · 18/11/2020 19:52

Usually yes a I have a chronic health condition which means I am eligible for an NHS one. GP hasn’t offered it to me this year so I haven’t yet but will if offered.

DC both had the nasal one via school.

Useruseruserusee · 18/11/2020 19:52

Yes, DH and I got it through work (both teachers). I have it every year.

TeapotCollection · 18/11/2020 19:52

Never had any intention of having it until I got flu in January. Nothing has ever knocked me off my feet in my life until then, I needed all my energy to breathe and could do very little else for 3 or 4 days. Took almost a fortnight to completely recover

Had my first jab on Tuesday

StandardPoodle · 18/11/2020 19:53

This year I qualified for a free jab from the GP's surgery but for 4 years prior to that I paid for a jab at the chemist in Sainsbury's. You could book by phone I think but I tended to go in early and ask if there was any chance of having the jab there and then which always worked.

Mydogisagentleman · 18/11/2020 19:54

Every year.
Last year I had it in October. I worked Xmas day and we had our Xmas on boxing day
By about 1,30 I felt a bit achy and took paracetamol, 6.30 saw me in bed nd I didn’t leave it for 10 days.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 18/11/2020 19:54

Yes, I usually get it through work but paid for it this year as they are not doing them

BellsaRinging · 18/11/2020 19:55

I had it this year with teen ds. Just dont want to risk is getting it during covid. It was about £13 each and well worth it for the risk I think.

thatonesmine · 18/11/2020 19:58

I had pneumonia about 20 years ago and always qualify for a free flu jab now so I get one every year. I've had the pneumonia jab too.

PandemicImpact · 18/11/2020 19:59

I've had it for the last 3 years due to low lymphocytes. Never considered it before.

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/11/2020 20:00

Yes my mum was very unwell with flu in 1985 and she was young and healthy.

CantStandMeow · 18/11/2020 20:00

Yep, £8 at Asda. Small price to pay to hopefully avoid a really nasty illness

Wejustdontknow · 18/11/2020 20:00

I had mine yesterday, I’ve had it for the past 3 years after being confirmed coeliac as that can lower your immune system, in 36

SuperbGorgonzola · 18/11/2020 20:01

I've had it when pregnant but haven't bothered otherwise. I would have no objection to it though and if I see it on offer next time I'm near a chemist I might well do it. My workplace is offering to reimburse us for it.

Duanphen · 18/11/2020 20:04

Yes, because I don't want flu, don't want to spread flu and am not an anti-vaccine nut.

ifyoulikepinacolada · 18/11/2020 20:07

Yep - i’m low risk so pay for it but it’s worth £13 not to pass it on to someone more vulnerable than me! Will get the covid one as soon as i can for the same reason.

LabiaMinoraPissusFlapus · 18/11/2020 20:08

No, my children don't have it either.
