Every single time I want to cook anything the thing I need is in the cupboard under a different thing and I have to have a fight with the cupboard and I've just whacked my forehead on the counter trying to retrieve a frying pan Angry

There has got to be a better way.

Is it lack of space or disorganisation that is causing the problem?

JimmyTheBrave · 18/11/2020 17:44

I have cupboards too but when I get a new kitchen I'm getting pan drawers for the bottom units. My friend has them in her new kitchen and I'm so envious!

Nottherealslimshady · 18/11/2020 17:45

Mine are a cupboard but I have a particular stacking system which keeps them under control

Now this is going to sound dim. Forgive me.

But don't pan drawers take up the same amount of space as a pan cupboard? And you've still got to fight amongst them to find the one you want.

I don't see the advantage or why everyone raves about them?

gretagreengrapes · 18/11/2020 17:51

Some hooks on a rack on the wall and in deep drawers so you can pull it out and see everything.

RhymesWithOrange · 18/11/2020 17:51

Pan drawers. The woofer's chuffnuts.

Queenie8 · 18/11/2020 17:53

I've got pan drawers, they're brilliant. Yes they are the same size as a cupboard but it pulls out, so you're not reaching past the other pans. But yes you do have to lift the smaller ones out to get to the bigger ones, but with much more ease.

gretagreengrapes · 18/11/2020 17:53

@Gazelda you don't have to move things out the way to get to the things at the back, or take the whole stack out if there's not enough space to lift something up and out. I wouldn't go back to putting them in a cupboard. The same with my plates!

fitflopqueen · 18/11/2020 17:53

mine are in the corner base cupboard, saucepans on shelf, frying pans & heavy cast iron dishes on bottom. Also hate dragging out pans, would love pan drawers in another world.

Dowermouse · 18/11/2020 17:54

In a fucking expensive pull out corner thingy. It's shit. I wish I had one of the kidney shaped ones instead of the square one I was practically pissing my self with excitement to have in my new kitchen.

HunterAngel · 18/11/2020 17:54

A vague stacking system that varies depending on whether or not DH has decided to ‘help’ by rearranging everything in to some weird system that only makes sense to him. We have saucepans with removable handles so they stack a lot easier then normal pans

Gazelda · 18/11/2020 18:06

Thanks Greta

I'm planning my new kitchen at the mo. It's going to tiny, but will have a full height pantry. I'm trying to stop myself from imagining the pantry will be like a tardis and solve all my storage issues.

Previous kitchen- pan hanger
Current kitchen - on top of the wall cupboards

HazeyJaneII · 18/11/2020 18:10

Hanging from S hooks on a bar from Ikea.

asifiwould · 18/11/2020 18:11

free standing metal pan shelves (pan stand) really cheap and brilliant - gets a bit dusty though

Fatted · 18/11/2020 18:14

May I suggest getting rid of some of the kitchen clutter. All of ours fit nicely in one cupboard because I culled everything before we moved house.

asifiwould · 18/11/2020 18:14

Like this one.

In a top cupboard. I hate grovelling.

FourTeaFallOut · 18/11/2020 18:20

The pot and pan cupboard is nothing compared to my tupperware tsunami cupboard. We need a bigger kitchen, it seems no organisational Kung Fu will save me.

mathanxiety · 18/11/2020 18:20

I had a pan hanger in my previous kitchen.

In my current tiny kitchen I have free standing metal shelves. They hold my pans, two enameled cast iron pots, a big stockpot, pyrex dishes, mixing bowls, Instant Pot, bread machine, basket of Tupperware, and a basket for my hand mixer, rolling pin, and silicone baking mats.

I keep my two heavy cast iron pans on the stovetop or inside the oven.

JanewaysBun · 18/11/2020 18:21

My parents have pan drawers
They are the best thing!

Audreyseyebrows · 18/11/2020 18:24

Pan drawers and some hang in the larder.

Anydreamwilldo12 · 18/11/2020 18:28

Never mind the pans, what about the plastic containers. You decide to become all Mrs organised and buy a shit load of containers that all fit inside each other very nicely and they just end up being chucked in the cupboard with the lids separate and all bloody fall out to the floor every time you open the cupboard.
If I had a pan drawer I would use it for the plastic stuff not pans.

Blibbyblobby · 18/11/2020 18:28

In a cupboard, but I have these

www.lakeland.co.uk/13903/Stellar-Eazi-Store-Pan-Set

They are fab!

Tangledtresses · 18/11/2020 18:29

I put large drawers stead of cupboards
Life changing!!!! No more rummaging and swearing to find a pan 😀
