Latest teen slang/fads

I've got to come up with a round for a lockdown quiz tonight on latest kid/teen and post-teen slang or fads (it's meant to baffle out of touch parents)...

So I'll be asking what is a Squishmallow in the hope they think it's a cult drug when it's actually a toy of dubious taste... And asking what a lean is (a US trend of vodka with cough medicine). Any others very gratefully received... thank you (why did I ever agree etc etc)

The kids say "super-dope" meaning jolly good
Also they enjoy "flexing" - showing off their wealth and status
Superfans they call "Stans"

I have no idea why I know this.

MNOverinvestor · 13/11/2020 16:32

But I'm very pleased you do... thank you...

I think a scrape is also someone who is a bit sad and desperate.

“Wagwan” is something we get a lot. Hmm i think it is patois for wha g’wan /what’s going on. But it really just means hi, especially when eg coming in after school.

Wellhellyeah · 13/11/2020 17:23

@TawnyPippit - I heard Wagwan this week, and didn’t know if I was being insulted or not!

Pikachubaby · 13/11/2020 18:10

Everyone is called a “nonce“ Grin

When you respond to something in unexpected way, it’s a “weird flex, but ok”

Everything is “a mood”, seeing a cat asleep in the sunshine, someone walking in the rain: or whatever “that’s such a mood”

And everyone says they are obsessed with something if they vaguely like it (Omg I am obsessed with your hair!”)

Susanwouldntlikeit · 13/11/2020 18:13

Aoki · 13/11/2020 18:14

Stans is from the Eminiem song, about a stalker fan who winds up killing his girlfriend. Surprised they still use that one as its years old.
Susanwouldntlikeit · 13/11/2020 18:14

Sorry about the typos -occasionally I slip in a teen word and they go wild with excitement 😀😀
