I've got to come up with a round for a lockdown quiz tonight on latest kid/teen and post-teen slang or fads (it's meant to baffle out of touch parents)...

So I'll be asking what is a Squishmallow in the hope they think it's a cult drug when it's actually a toy of dubious taste... And asking what a lean is (a US trend of vodka with cough medicine). Any others very gratefully received... thank you (why did I ever agree etc etc)

@CodenameVillanelle

Aaargh some of these are so over!! Nobody under 25 ships anybody and noob is Middle Aged language!

Neek is the latest one I've heard. It's an insult apparently being a cross between a nerd and a geek

Ironic, considering my eldest is 28 this month and used to complain about The Rudies picking on The Neeks in her Year 7 class, really.

One of my students called another student a 'visco" - I had to google it

"A girl who owns carmax, scrunchies, hydro flask, Apple Watch, AirPods, Apple Watch and Birkenstock’s. They also edit the photos on Visco."

The new one for the last few months in our house is ‘mums’

A conversation between my teens

‘I got ?????? On FIFA today’
‘Nah say mums’
‘Mums’

When you don’t believe something g you ask them to say mums. It means swear on your mums life. I would like to think as they are swearing on their mother’s life they are always telling the truth.

My 14 year old and her friends are constantly shipping.

GeidiPrimes · 14/11/2020 18:55

some of the really old people doing the quiz (over 50!) seemed quite excited about the idea of trying it...

Confusedmum2001 · 08/01/2021 18:48

That’s an epic loggers moment bruh lol wiener

Confusedmum2001 · 08/01/2021 18:49

My son keeps saying he likes ‘choking the chicken’ is that a drug of some kind?

Madhairday · 08/01/2021 18:56

My DD lately says 'F in chat' a lot, apparently a gaming word that means respecting someone when they've done something difficult.

Also such a mood, pog, imma yeet this over to you.

WhoWants2Know · 08/01/2021 19:27

Confusedmum- are you taking the mick?

DD13 would like to contribute "butters".

But I'm with a previous poster in thinking that quite a few of these are only new to white kids.

He's a simp - a guy who does anything his gf/wife says

Fatladyslim · 08/01/2021 19:52

@WeAreGerbil

Peng is only used by the 'chavs' (DD's words)

Chav is a horrible, condescending, classist word, I find it sad that anyone uses it to sneer at others.

I hate how 'chav' has changed. When I was growing up you had chavs and greebos. The greebos would wear dirty oversized jeans and band tshirts and the chavs wore juicy couture jogging bottoms for PE.

Calling each other nonce and pedo for a joke 😬
