Baked beans belong on toast, in baked potatoes and adjacent to chips. Only a monster would put them in chilli. Ew a thousand times ew

They're alright in chilli if you make a quick cook chilli, makes the sauce a bit richer. I prefer kidney beans and black beans in a slow cooked chilli though.

Because baked beans are a cupboard staple here, kidney beans are not. So if im making a chilli, theres a very high chance ive forgotton to buy a tin of kidney beans.

So baked beans is easier and tastes nicer ive discovered. The bean juice is an extra boost to the sauce!

If you mean the same beans as used in Heinz Baked Beans (haricot?) I'd say yes as I have done so. If you mean chuck a tin of Heinz in, then it's a big no from me.

I can't stand kidney beans (or butter beans) they make me want to heave. So little beans work whether they are baked or black eyed. In fact one of my most reprehensible hacks is to make a big pot of frozen bolognese and beef it up with a tin of baked beans and some chopped fresh chilli. I do realise this leaves me beyond the pale in MN terms but my DC will eat it.
