To seriously despise this woman?

Brawnyn from the real housewives of Orange County is the most self centred, attention seeking person I have ever seen on tv. She makes my blood boil. Anyone else?

@slashlover

No I didn’t, as eastenders is a fictional soap, and real housewives is a reality show and is supposed to portray their real lives. That is what is insulting.

PeggyPorschen · 12/11/2020 12:29
@slashlover you know that's not the same thing though. Eastenders isn't entirely fictional, they get given characters and different names and live in a made up square. This is reality tv, it's based on their real lives and problems. I'm sure much of it is dramatised for entertainment of course but it can't be compared to soap operas.
OMFG

Bluntness100 · 12/11/2020 12:30

Gosh this is not healthy op. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen someone react like this to what really is not much more than a tv character. You don’t know this woman

I would not watch any more, your reaction isn’t healthy foe you. You sound obsessed with her. And that’s never good.

PeggyPorschen · 12/11/2020 12:30

real housewives is a reality show and is supposed to portray their real lives

and Father Christmas favourite drink is Coca Cola. Totally real life.

thebeautyoftherain · 12/11/2020 12:33

@PeggyPorschen lol Father Christmas is a fictional character 😂 this woman is a livi n breathing person

OP posts:
Bluntness100 · 12/11/2020 12:33

Op,,as others have said this is not a documentary, it’s crappy tv made foe the ratings, it’s scripted and directed, and is done in a way to make you think oh god that’s outrageous, if it wasn’t no one would watch it for any length of time.

Please try not to confuse it with a serious documentary.

ChiefClerkDrumknott · 12/11/2020 12:38

stupid name as well

Nice dismissal of a classic Welsh name there Hmm It has a beautiful meaning, although should be spelt BranwEn as it’s a female name

GabsAlot · 12/11/2020 12:39

its not real its scripted reality same as our ones

BrumBoo · 12/11/2020 12:39

Who is ACTING a part. Seriously, you're just a GF right? No one is this dim really.

RaspberryBeret1999 · 12/11/2020 12:39

@PeggyPorschen

But that’s the point, most viewers are aware it’s half scripted/half real, but using alcoholism as a fake storyline is wrong, in my opinion.

I won’t stop watching and I won’t lose sleep over it, but I get where OP is coming from, especially if they have experienced alcoholism themselves.

IhateBoswell · 12/11/2020 12:40

Some of these responses are way over the top!

I’ve never watched the programme thebeautyoftherain so I can’t comment on that.
I’m sure you’re not taking it half as seriously as some of these comments suggest 🙄

amijustparanoidorjuststoned · 12/11/2020 12:41

OP. What is going on in your life to make you despise someone so much that you don't know? Are you okay?

When you read some of the comments about Mrs Hinch, Meghan Markle to name a few, I honestly think some people DO take things very seriously.
keeprocking · 12/11/2020 12:44

Isn't being vacuous, self-centred, attention seeking the default setting for all 'reality' programmes? I'm amazed that so many people actually watch these things, I saw an advert for the Cheshire one, only in a couple of square miles in Cheshire was my only thought!

Sparklesocks · 12/11/2020 12:45

OP I think it’s possible that particular storyline is resonating with you and provoking quite a strong response because your experience with drink is still quite raw for you. It might be best that you switch off (not in a ‘don’t like it don’t watch it’ way, but for your own wellbeing and feeling calmer).

It's not half real. Is 99.9% scripted. They do retakes and re-edits all the time. The programmes may hire rich women with nothing better to do, but they hire them to be actresses to play a soap opera version of their lives. Its not real at all.

OddHoleySocks · 12/11/2020 12:51

I'm amazed that there are people that think it's all totally real, tbh.

I have just been telling a member of my family that reality TV isn't truly based in reality either. Nobody wants to watch people talk about weather and what they are having for dinner. It's dull.

Its much nearer to being a soap opera than it is to bring real life.

thebeautyoftherain · 12/11/2020 12:52

@BrumBoo you're not a very nice person are you? That's you called me "stupid" twice and now "dim". Aren't you able to articulate yourself in a better manner?

OP posts:
PickAChew · 12/11/2020 12:53

Maybe watch something else?

thelegohooverer · 12/11/2020 12:54

It might be helpful to explore why this is so triggering for you?
I understand the specific points you’ve made, but your response is more intense than is usual, and that suggests that it’s provoking something deeper in you than maybe you realise.

Have you ever had counselling? It tends to be something we talk about as a need, and when you’ve managed to achieve sobriety (well done) you might feel that you don’t need something like counselling. But that can be a really good place to explore yourself from. It does sound like you have something left unresolved, when you’re having such an intense reaction to someone making an eejit of herself on the telly.

Bluntness100 · 12/11/2020 12:55
@BrumBoo you're not a very nice person are you? That's you called me "stupid" twice and now "dim". Aren't you able to articulate yourself in a better manner?
But op you’re saying much worse about some woman on a scripted show. In fact you’ve said some terrible things about a stranger. What was said to you is positively kind in comparison.

BrumBoo · 12/11/2020 12:56

Says the person who believes their hated tv character is real and has spouted some pretty rude and presumptive things about the real person who's acting a part. Perhaps look at your own behaviour and why I'm questioning it.

Bluntness100 · 12/11/2020 12:58

Agree. You can’t be hurling insults at a stranger and then decide someone isn’t very nice and take offence when someone gives you a one percent dose of your own medicine.

RaspberryBeret1999 · 12/11/2020 12:59

@BrumBoo

Braunwyn is a terrible actress then, as it’s quite obvious she’s faking her alcoholism storyline.

Are you all closet real housewives and Braunwyn fans? A lot of these comments are taking real offence to the OP having a strong opinion on this fake character and fake show.

Of course she's faking it, because its fake!

No one is 'closeted fans', many people can be a fan of a show, get very invested in the characters and emotions. Most of them switch it off at the end knowing it wasn't actually real though. That's the concerning thing here, if the op is for real. That anyone actually believe these reality characters are 'real people'.
