Brawnyn from the real housewives of Orange County is the most self centred, attention seeking person I have ever seen on tv. She makes my blood boil. Anyone else?

I don't have time to watch crap like this. Get yourself a nice calming hobby, OP, then you will be happier with life.

thebeautyoftherain · 12/11/2020 11:57

@IsolaPribby I think you might be right tbh

Fluffybutter · 12/11/2020 12:00

Shows like this actively seek out people who will do this exact thing .
It’s her job and she’s probably nothing like that in “real life”
I think if you try and remember this is all fake for ratings then you might not get so wound up .

slashlover · 12/11/2020 12:01

She's an actress playing a part. Do you get equally annoyed at films and other TV shows?

ivftake1 · 12/11/2020 12:04

Are you over-invested?

PeggyPorschen · 12/11/2020 12:07

@ivftake1

Are you over-invested?
what makes you said that? 😂😂
thebeautyoftherain · 12/11/2020 12:08

@PeggyPorschen this woman has 7 children and a gay husband. I promise you I am not jealous.

OP posts:
Lovemusic33 · 12/11/2020 12:11

Why watch it then? You say “she doesn’t deserve the air time” your adding to the number of viewers. Maybe get a hobby or a life and stop watching shit tv?

BrumBoo · 12/11/2020 12:11

Yet they're laughing all the way to the bank and you're wasting your Thursday afternoon having faux-rage over their faux-life.

Silvergreen · 12/11/2020 12:12
@HollyBollyBooBoo no I will not chill. She is a terrible human and shouldn't get air time, she is an embarrassment, talking openly about her disgusting sex den and threesomes with her husband, stirring shit up between the ladies, being the most sloppy drunk, lying about her childhood trying to make it seem as if she had a horrible childhood when in-fact she did not. Then this season she's had a personality transplant and has now decided to "explore her sexuality" away from her husband and get sober. It's all for story lines. She is an awful person. Even her mum is like "why are you lying about your childhood, that's not what happened?"

You know when I got sober I didn't go around telling everyone I met, I didn't scream at my friends "I AM THIRTY DAYS SOBER!!" Like brawnwyn did, I didn't use it as an excuse to excuse my shitty behaviour, I didn't go to a party knowing fine well there would be alcohol and people drinking and then run crying to the bathroom and locking myself in when someone orders a tequila. It's all so attention seeking, all about braunwyn, stupid name as well. Can't stand her.
Are you sure you're sober? I'd need to blame being pissed to write something like this.

KaptainKaveman · 12/11/2020 12:13

OP instead of drooling over this artificial staged dunce-fodder, why don't you read some decent books ? There's a big world of literature awaiting.

Littleideasbigbook · 12/11/2020 12:14

A gay husband? Say what now? He can't be a full homosexual if he has managed to sire 7 children can he?

I dabble in a bit of housewives, purely to validate what I do not want my life to look like. I don't have any emotional reaction to it. I just stare mindlessly at the screen and absorb their weird lives (and wonder how their legs get so shiny?)

thebeautyoftherain · 12/11/2020 12:15

@Silvergreen how dare you. Of course I'm sober. You don't have the right to attack my sobriety. That's a really low blow even for mumsnet standards.

I agree with you OP.

Real Housewives are my guilty pleasure, and I’m aware they are mainly scripted, and each season there’s a ‘storyline’. However, I don’t believe Bronwyn has a genuine problem with alcohol and it’s insulting for those who do.

On the phone talking while playing with her 30 day chip in her hand, ugh, so fake.

thebeautyoftherain · 12/11/2020 12:16

@KaptainKaveman I read plenty of books thank you. The show is on for one hour a week. Plenty of time leftover for reading.

OP posts:
thebeautyoftherain · 12/11/2020 12:17

@RaspberryBeret1999 yes!! Exactly that! It is very insulting to those who do, which includes me.

YABU to be watching RHOC, get in RHONY. The only way to fly.

JonHammIsMyJamm · 12/11/2020 12:18

*on

DickBastardly · 12/11/2020 12:19

What an incredibly nasty thing to say to someone who has said they have had problems with alcohol in the past.

thebeautyoftherain · 12/11/2020 12:19

@JonHammIsMyJamm oh I watch that too and BH

OP posts:
slashlover · 12/11/2020 12:19

Did you get equally annoyed when Steve McFadden played Phil Mitchell on Eastenders as someone who had a problem with alcohol?

thebeautyoftherain · 12/11/2020 12:22

@slashlover you know that's not the same thing though. Eastenders isn't entirely fictional, they get given characters and different names and live in a made up square. This is reality tv, it's based on their real lives and problems. I'm sure much of it is dramatised for entertainment of course but it can't be compared to soap operas.

OP posts:
Donkeeey · 12/11/2020 12:23

Clearly alcoholism is a sensitive subject for you which is totally understandable. Well done for tackling your demons. But in the gentlest way, I would recommend you step away from this programme for your own mental health. Please don't torture yourself any further. If you can't, for whatever reason, then just keep reminding yourself that this is a TV show, it is NOT real life. It is billed as a "reality" show, but it is anything BUT real. It is a scripted and grossly exaggerated version of a real life issue. Please don't give it headspace.

Thecobwebsarewinning · 12/11/2020 12:24

Lol. You are paying a monthly subscription to watch someone you despise! She is clearly very good at her job.

ShebaShimmyShake · 12/11/2020 12:26

@slashlover

I suppose the difference here is that McFadden was overtly and unquestionably an actor playing a fictional character to a script, and you were never supposed to imagine that it was real. In this show, it sounds as though the presentation (for want of a better word) is that she's not acting and it's really her. Obviously she is acting, but the line is more blurred and she's presenting as if she's not.
