panelling?

Planning some decorating whilst furloughed and looking on Instagram for inspiration - fake panelling and F&B Sulking Room Pink are very popular!

Anyone else a fan? What are colours or styles for interiors are you interested in at the moment?

@Hollowtree3

That is not a nice shade of pink.
I agree.

I would rename it Washed Out Blood Stained Brown.

Dixiechickonhols · 09/11/2020 22:22

notanothertakeaway I was junior school age in early 80s and a pink and grey bedroom was the height of fashion. I had some pink and grey bedding/curtains.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 09/11/2020 22:23

Our living room has been Dead Salmon for several years, I love it (awful name, gorgeous colour). However, it is a huge room that gets masses of light, so the colour never really looks anything other than a lovely version of it.

F&B paints really do change depending on light and time of day - always hang some lining paper and paint onto that so you can check how it looks through the day and in different locations.

I'm a bit ignorant with trends and just go for colours I love. DH always shakes his head when I make a change then two weeks later announces "that looks lovely".

Treaclepie19 · 09/11/2020 22:23

Not into either of those.
I like cosy pastels and splashes of colour.

BeaMends · 09/11/2020 22:25

@Adamandtheaunts

Sulking room pink Vs freshly plastered walls - far too similar for my liking!
Exactly what I was thinking!

although I do rather like the colour of damp plaster

laudemio · 09/11/2020 22:28

I love dead salmon too

GiraffeNecked · 09/11/2020 22:33

We were going t9 panel our hall, 1908 house. Currently has a 1980s terracotta stencilled dado rail. Fashions change....

DishingOutDone · 09/11/2020 22:37

@Winterwoollies

I think grey will date better than the pink colour. It looks too much like the colour of old ham, or a dry tongue or a keloid scar, for me. 😆
These are all great names for Heritage type paint colours.

OMG I was first married in the early 80s and we did the ENTIRE HOUSE in pink and grey!!! What a horrible memory!
DishingOutDone · 09/11/2020 22:41

@romeolovedjulliet

why the horrible name sulking room pink ?
Its what you do after you've painted it, you just go in there have a sulk and come out again. "Where are you darling?" "I'm just having a sulk in the sulking room, won't be long".

Am I the only one old enough to see that and think distemper? Or zinc paste?

DishingOutDone · 09/11/2020 22:42

Really embarrassed now I think I'm so funny I did 4 posts.

I'll get me coat, go and have a sulk.

FredaFox · 09/11/2020 22:44

In just decorating my mum's house, wanted to get sulking room pink but opted for blush pink instead, F&B paint was too expensive for my mum's taste. Have to say the dulux blush pink is lovely. My 76 year mother will be delighted she is a trend setter 😂

FredaFox · 09/11/2020 22:45

Have today there have been several pro sulking room pink posts in the past 12 months so somebody on mn is buying it!

7Days · 09/11/2020 22:47

I've seen a lot of biscuity oaty neutrals lately in place of grey.
The do look fresh and warm, a nice change and cleaner than these horrible internal organ colour schemes.

CakeRequired · 09/11/2020 22:48

Why not just pick a colour you like and then find a shade that you want for the room? Why does it have to be on trend? You realise if you want to always be on trend you will spend your life buying new furniture, painting etc? Confused Just to keep up with the joneses essentially.

Seems like a waste to me, but if that's what you want to do go ahead.

TableFlowerss · 09/11/2020 22:51

I don’t know, I think light grey/off white will be in fashion for a few years yet. Remember when magnolia walls were everywhere. I think it was about 20 years!

I think all the expensive looking --tacky--
glittery stuff that you see some celebs with on reality shows goes pretty well with the grey theme so I thing it’ll be around fur a while yet.

I do like the colour pallets that are taking at the minute. Painted DD bedroom one of the new pastel shades and it’s lovely. Not brave enough and confident enough in my own creativity to try to do the living room though!

TableFlowerss · 09/11/2020 22:52

And I’m sick to the back teeth of auto correct!

A sulking room is a boudoir isn't it so the name doesn't sound too bad to me. Could imagine it in a bedroom

I am toying with painting my bedroom black with blush pink ceiling at the bed side then graduating it so the other side of the room has black about 1m up the wall with the rest blush pink with lots of cream accessories. But it could turn out disastrous!

BlankTimes · 09/11/2020 22:58

The one with the grey panelling reminds me of a my Victorian school's hall and corridors.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 09/11/2020 23:03

Wasn’t the 90s all about yellow? Bright yellow and that blue swirly flower pattern chintz. Oh, and the blue pergola Chinese plates that everyone had.

GooseberryTart · 09/11/2020 23:12

I really dislike pink and grey but that sulking room pink colour looks drab and miserable.

When we were looking at houses to buy in the late 90’s we looked at one house owned by a joiner with a fab kitchen. The woodwork inside was lovely and really well done, the property was immaculate and in the area we wanted, lovely garden etc but almost every room was decked out in a sort of airforce blue colour and a drab pink colour which totally knocked me off the house. Sulking room pink looks very similar.

FenellaVelour · 09/11/2020 23:14

I thought about panelling for our new bathroom (Victorian house) but decided against it in the end. I like it in the right place, but not in modern homes.

Not sure about the pink. It reminds me a bit of Pripsen sachets that I had to take for threadworms as a child.

My favourite colour in my house is Dulux Mauve Mist in the bedroom, which is a cool based lavender. I mostly go for pretty bold colours though, and don’t intentionally follow trends.

yetanothernamitynamechange · 09/11/2020 23:21

Ooooh my house is that color already. And it has white paneling. Clearly everyone copied me. (Actually it was my landlords choice, but none the less...)

Cocolapew · 09/11/2020 23:24

My favourite colour atm is F&B Arsenic. I did a side table I got from the charity shop in it (tester pot) and I'm toying with doing my living room it after Christmas.
