She's a public figure. Her actions are well-known. She married a horrible man - for money as she herself pretty much admits - and she wasnt' a naive teenager but a mature woman at the time. She stood by him throughout his presidency, speaking in his support more than once.

Maybe she's 'lovely' but her public actions would suggest otherwise. We've never met her husband either. By your logic I suppose we're not allowed to have opinions on him too?

Shamelessly promoting her business interests from within the White House, thinking she can just rock up and join a conversation between world leaders, the level or arrogance is astounding. She has done nothing for the women’s right she claims to be so protective of and is woefully ignorant about what real people are going through, her tweets on it are tone deaf. She was a member of the board of the Trump Foundation which was shut down for skimming money to the family’s benefit. She defends her father at every opportunity. Cut from the same cloth, the sooner she disappears in to obscurity the better.

I think Ivanka is canny enough to realise that daddy Donald has already scuppered her chances of ever being taken seriously as a politician. @Lowkeevslucille unlike most posters on here who find themselves struggling I. Their relationships, Melania’s husband didn’t suddenly become an arsehole overnight, or even after a few years together. I have a family member who had business dealings with Trump in the late eighties - he says he was a dick then. She was a fully grown adult, who knew what he was like when she married him - there is no sympathy to be deserved.

Having degrees and a PhD doesn't make you a better person than someone who had some photos taken while partially naked many years ago when she worked as a model. It just means Jill Biden has a better education that's all.

Melania could have had a better education. She chose not to. Her decision, as was marrying Trump, plagiarising other people’s speeches and all the other weird things she decided to do as FLOTUS.

I don’t think she is stupid, it sounds as though she has been smart enough to secure her own financial security, but I think , like Trump, she has shown that her values are not those that most people would think fitted the position as wife of the President. It’s not as though there have not been previous FLOTUS who have set good examples .

I think Jill Biden is a better fit for the legacy of Hillary Rodham Clinton, Barbara Bush and Michelle Obama. It’s not an easy role, but others before Milenia have managed to make the best of it and leave their own valuable mark.
