To kind of want this dress

Like I KNOW it's awful, I know it's a costume for Mrs Christmas... But I still kind of love it. I think the kids would be delighted if I wore this Christmas day, too. Is it just too horrendous to consider?

If you've got the figure for it, go for it. Grin

Chemenger · 08/11/2020 07:36

You should do it. Back in the day I would have. Life’s too short to not go with it!

Oysterbabe · 08/11/2020 07:40

Bit of fun, why not. This has inspired me to find a ridiculous Christmas day outfit Grin

BogRollBOGOF · 08/11/2020 08:22

I love it. No different to wearing Christmas jumpers.

Anything to make Christmas feel different to any of the generic lockdown days that we've had this year is a good thing!

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 08/11/2020 08:44

I love British Retro & if we weren't planning a garden based Christmas this year & obviously no parties I would be buying in a heartbeat!

ToffeePennie · 08/11/2020 08:46

It’s fantastic and if I could afford it I would totally get it.
This year my Christmas dress is called “hares in the snow” and I really want some blue ICs but unlikely to happen.

inappropriateraspberry · 08/11/2020 08:51

Love it! Like something from a Hallmark Christmas movie. I would wear it to any Xmas occasion - school fair, carol service, and DEFINITELY Christmas Day.
But then I do am dram and love dressing up, so who am I to judge...

FrankieChips · 08/11/2020 08:52

It’s beautiful! I’m thinking of buying it too. Your kids would love it!

IsAWookieABear · 08/11/2020 08:57

I love it!

PrincessPain · 08/11/2020 09:00

I have a red velvet dress in a 50s style that I wear every christmas day.
The one in the picture is nicer than mine and I'm quite jealous 😅

diddl · 08/11/2020 09:06

92% polyester-too sweaty for me!

ErrolTheDragon · 08/11/2020 09:06

@Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies

But, but, but....it’s dry-clean only. I always spill gravy or something down me. And I sweat, loads. If your cook prepares Christmas dinner for you, go for it. Otherwise, find a dress that you can throw in the washing machine.
It's the fur cuffs which I think would be the problem. For sure you wouldn't be doing the washing up in it, so that's a point in its favour.Grin

I think it's rather gorgeous but impractical for the purpose.

diddl · 08/11/2020 09:07

And dry clean only!

ErrolTheDragon · 08/11/2020 09:07

@MrsPernicious

Lots of fab red dresses out there. deadlyisthefemale.com/product-category/clothing/dresses/?filter_colour=red All bum sizes catered for.
That looks like some sort of chucked-on dressing gown. Confused
nosswith · 08/11/2020 09:08

I'm not keen on Christmas jumpers because they are low-use clothes and am concerned about the impact of them on the environment. Same with this dress.

Plussizejumpsuit · 08/11/2020 09:14

@understandalotmore

OMG that makes menopausal me over hot just looking at it! Imagine a hot kitchen and that dress, I'd expire!

But if you love it, bloody well buy it!

I'm 35 and not menopausal but thought the same. I'm terrible at controlling my own body heat. I just know I'm going to get very hot when I do go through it.
70isaLimitNotaTarget · 08/11/2020 09:23

It is pretty and you could be wearing it for many years so your cost per wear will be lower. I'd be wearing it round the house doing the last minutes fripperies -nice towels in the bathroom, ast minute decorations, wrapping presents .

I don't have an hourglass figure for that dress (but I do have the hairlength that can go into waves now Xmas Grin )

My Christmas jumpers are worn a few days in December , I have a couple of tops , and a washable jumper that are 3+ years old so not just a disposable fashion.

emilybrontescorsett · 08/11/2020 09:27

If you like it but it. Just wear it on Christmas day and boxing not your immediate family will see it.

emilybrontescorsett · 08/11/2020 09:28

Bloody auto correct!
Only your immediate family will see it if you wear it Christmas day.

Tunnocks34 · 08/11/2020 09:29

Do it!

Imicola · 08/11/2020 10:06

Love it! It reminds me of when I bought a vintage dress from etsy, but mine got muddled up with someone else's purchase, and I received a vintage red velvet catsuit with white fur trim. Basically this dress, but as a catsuit. It was amazing, but far too tiny for me.

whattodo2019 · 08/11/2020 10:06

Really???

PinkiOcelot · 08/11/2020 10:54

Go on, go on go on..............

NetflixWatcher · 08/11/2020 11:07

I love it its lovely.

ImEatingVeryHealthilyOhYes · 08/11/2020 11:33

Go on go on go on Grin
