[quote FrankieStein402]>I think that's a fake, and the Guardian just got played.
Well if you look at the image in the tweet and just blow it up there is clearly text of some sort behind the visible text - otherwise the background would be monochrome

C'mon Frankie, you've worked in gov tech for 30 whatever years. You know not to attribute to conspiracy what could be easily be a result of incompetence.

CaraDuneRedux · 10/11/2020 20:35

I thought it a fake. Looked at the original and went load of bollocks.

A couple of hours later DH came running upstairs with the original, downloaded it, opened it in a photo editing package and selected the background in the highlight colour tool.

You could then see the outline of text that wasnt visible on my screen.

I went through the process of going 'fucking fake news' but DH did prove otherwise to me and im not sure id have believed the story after checking myself otherwise.

So do go to the original tweet and try it for yourself before dismissing it as a hoax. Its not.

Glad it wasn't just me who had this initial reaction.

I'm currently trying to do what you describe, but failing due to (a) inadquate software and (b) inadequate skill on my part.

As I say, I think Boris is a pathological liar and racist pos. I just happen to think that this doesn't mean that everything that gets said about him is true, or that no-one would have a vested interest in faking something like this.

I am pretty surprised his office would do something that monumentally stupid. I suppose it's the photoshop equivalent of screwing up your global search-and-replace in a document.

Re Pompeo.

Its been pointed out by a few sources that Pompeo appears as if he may have been playing a game of two siderism with his transition comments. He said second term to the republican base therefore satisfying those with the intention span of a knat. But if you watch the full clip he then elaborates and it appears as if the first statement was actually a joke and they were planning to transition to Biden (note: he says ive been on the other side of this process before).

Its clever. Its dangerous. But still doesn't seem to be a full endorsement of the soon to be former president's claim.

Its a similar story with what Bob Barr seems to have said too.

I think what the Republican party are saying and doing aren't necessarily the same thing.

I do think they want to delegitimise Biden for their own political gain. But im not fully convinced they are as behind the narcissist as they appear to be on the surface.

Theres definitely a game going on here. Them laying off RNC staff is an action that perhaps is the give away.

It will be interesting to see to what degree they remain committed in deed as well as action in the next couple of weeks.

Something to watch for.

Caught the last part of Joe's news conf. Once again, I ended up practically weeping. Not because of what he said, but because of his manner of address, his dignified demeanor, and his compassion. It's just a balm to my spirit.

It looks like the ACA may lose its individual mandate, but that it will still materially stand. I'm not quite breathing a sigh of relief, I won't until the decision is announced.

You echo what most right thinking people believe.

The dignity, empathy, and politeness of Biden is SUCH a contrast to Trump.

Soul food at last.

I Know things can change, but it is great to see someone with manners as President now.

The contrast to Trump is mind boggling imv.

Why not just prepare 2 separate images?
Just like someone prepared 2 columns for The Telegraph!

I imagine because they built them in a software package that uses layers - set up the background on one, the text on another, etc. It's a bog standard feature Photoshop or Sketch. The question is why they managed to merge text layers into a single image.

Someone just forgot to turn a layer off

Yep, incompetence. (What, from the Brexit government? Surely not.)

www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2020/11/10/trump-federal-budget-post-election/

The White House budget office has instructed federal agencies to continue preparing the Trump administration’s budget proposal for the next fiscal year, according to multiple administration officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity to share details of private conversations.

The White House budget proposal is typically issued in February, which would be at least two weeks after President Trump is scheduled to depart the White House. He lost the Nov. 3 election to former vice president Joe Biden, who is set to be sworn in on Jan. 20, though Trump has refused to accept the results

Shock So he's ignoring he's lost the election?

FrankieStein402 · 10/11/2020 21:18

@singasonga - I wasn't suggesting a conspiracy, completely agree its a cockup - the "guardian played" bit was cut from another PP.
(Yes 30+yrs of public/private IT contracts - only some of those in government though - otherwise i'd have been driven insane :) )

I suspect they weren't using any graphics software - possibly something as simple/daft as paint. Having gone to so much trouble to get a symmetric/aesthetic message when they thought Trump had it, they just selected a background colour to flood the 'Trump' etc words then overwrote with Biden - not understanding that there would be a residual gradient around the text?

If they'd been using anything fancier then they could have cut and pasted the text trivially with no chance of residual text remaing. The BBC story of 'alternative embedded in the other by mistake' doesn't make sense unless it was the press office explanation of the above.

SabrinaThwaite · 10/11/2020 21:34

“... the future (something) ...” ?

TheNorthWestPawsage · 10/11/2020 21:39

Biden’s phone chat with Johnson... mentions GFA which doesn’t get repeated in Johnson’s retelling. Funny that.

Trump is mollified whilst being used. Biden and the Dems know this. Everyone knows this apart from DT and his family it seems.

'We need his voters' in Georgia: Why Republicans embrace Trump's last stand.
The president's refusal to concede the election is finding support among GOP who are eager for his help in holding the Senate.

www.politico.com/news/2020/11/10/trump-georgia-senate-runoff-435786

There are two reasons why most Senate Republicans refuse to acknowledge Joe Biden as president-elect: Georgia and Georgia.

Simply put, the party needs President Donald Trump’s help to clinch two runoff elections in Georgia on Jan. 5 that will determine the fate of the Senate GOP’s majority. And accepting the presidential results ahead of Trump, a politician driven by loyalty, could put Republicans at odds with the president and his core supporters amid the must-win elections down South.
...
“We need his voters. And he has a tremendous following out there,” said Senate Majority Whip John Thune of South Dakota. “Right now, he’s trying to get through the final stages of his election and determine the outcome there. But when that’s all said and done, however it comes out, we want him helping in Georgia.”

Vice President Mike Pence told Senate Republicans at a party lunch Tuesday he will head to Georgia to campaign for the GOP candidates on Nov. 20, and some Republicans believe Trump will eventually follow.
...
No one pays closer attention to Senate races than McConnell. And he knows that Trump will be important in Georgia. Republicans need to win at least one of the races to keep the majority. A Democratic sweep would mean a 50-50 tie and throw the Senate to Democrats with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris as the tie-breaker.

'Former Wake County schools superintendent and North Carolina Department of Transportation chief Tony Tata was named to the Pentagon’s top policy spot Tuesday after a flurry of firings and resignations as President Donald Trump reshapes the Pentagon during his final days in office.

In a memo obtained Tuesday by Defense One, acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller — who was put in that job on Monday after Trump fired former Defense Secretary Mark Esper by tweet — announced that Tata would take the policy role.'

There’s a couple of crackers on Twitter using the fact that Biden has 50% and trump 46.5% of the popular vote as proof

Apparently when you add the “hidden” % to trumps total he goes ahead of Biden

One in particular was mind blown to discover there were other people to vote for 😂
