@Nobdienowhere

I thought they didn't call it until the counts were finished.

It's still all over the place at the moment. I'm really astonished at all of the software issues that keep popping up in various states. I don't understand why some of the counting machines have different hardware/software. I assumed that they would be standardised and specified for security purposes.

Is it normal for these glitches happen?

No. Its perfectly normal. Happened in 2016 and every other election in the television era.

No the ballots are not all counted first. Same way that in the uk we know who the prime minister will be before we have all the ballots in every constituency counted and declared and the media report and call this before the other parties formally 'concede'. Just in a slightly different way.

And these 'glitches' is something thats being tweeted by one of the junior trumps so its quite easy to see you are getting your information from very dodgy sources.

Stop reading conspiracy bullshit.

I am still looking in awe at the news that the only van so far actually discovered with a bunch of phoney ballot papers aboard: driven from out-of-state by a pair of Republicans.

It is to be hoped, and it seems likely, that any Republican fraudulent ballots will get picked up at the same time as any Democrat ones. What will be interesting is if they tell us how many there have been of each.

Just how many Trumpers did as they were told and voted twice.

Btw Biden's lead in Georgia has now crept up to over 12,000. It could well be safer than Arizona!

Can you specify 'all of the software issues' please?

Which software?
In which states?
What issues specifically?

I am a project manager specialising in implementing town hall software btw. I'm looking forward to you letting me know what we've done wrong.

Here's what Fox News has to say today about Barr's authorisation for the DOJ.

www.foxnews.com/politics/barr-authorizes-investigation-allegations-voting-irregularities-no-evidence

A few paragraphs I noticed...

In a memo obtained by Fox News, Barr advised that allegations concerning voter fraud “should be handled with great care” and that “specious, speculative, fanciful or far-fetched claims should not be a basis for initiating federal inquiries.”

He emphasized that his authorizing federal prosecutors to pursue “substantial allegations” should not indicate that the DOJ has “concluded that voting irregularities have impacted the outcome of any election.”

Barr said that investigations can be conducted if there are clear and credible allegations of irregularities that could effect the outcome of a federal election in an individual state.

Barr’s action comes days after Fox News projected that Democrat Joe Biden defeated Trump in the general election. Trump has not conceded the election and he is instead claiming, without evidence, that there has been a widespread, multi-state conspiracy by Democrats to skew the vote tally in Biden's favor.

Biden holds a sizable lead in multiple battleground states and there has been no indication of enough improperly counted or illegally cast votes that would shift the outcome.

Election officials from parties have stated that the election went relatively well, despite minor issues like broken voting machines and ballots that were either miscast or lost.

it's called an election campsin.
gosh what planet is he on?

Copperas · 10/11/2020 17:43

It looks to me that any substantial lawsuit is unlikely if federal prosecutors follow Barr's instructions. Do you think he is hoping Trump won't notice?

nauticant · 10/11/2020 17:55

If there are no prosecutions this proves that the conspiracy is all powerful because it was able to squash that prosecutions that should have taken place.

All of this stuff is to generate mis/disinformation as fuel to feed the conspiracy theories.

ListeningQuietly · 10/11/2020 17:56

Barr has to be careful
as does McConnell
otherwise those two Georgia run off races could cause rather a problem for them Grin

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 10/11/2020 17:57

"I leave knowing that the team will preserve, regardless of what lies ahead. I encourage everyone to remain mission focused, apolitical, and never to forget your oath of office."

That's a strange message. Persevere instead of preserve? And an "are" after lies and before ahead?

Lweji · 10/11/2020 17:59

It looks like Boris Johnson's team's ineptitude extends to congratulatory messages on Twitter to Joe Biden.

Sorry - just a random Google image!!

TheNorthWestPawsage · 10/11/2020 18:07

Thanks for all the updates - been away from the news today.

DH’s parents said they expect Trump will be a constant presence behind Biden’s shoulder over the next 4 years - commenting, stirring, lying (natch) and trying to stay relevant whilst coining in the $$ from appearances etc.

I think Biden will be able to deal with that. (He’ll need the patience of a saint - but I expect he knows a few to call on!)

There's an answer to any statement about a conspiracy.
Why didn't they do the Senate? Because they wanted to just make it for the President and not push their luck

TheNorthWestPawsage · 10/11/2020 18:20

Interesting.
From Guardian just now:

Supreme Court indicates Obamacare likely to survive its scutiny

US supreme court justices a little earlier signaled that they are unlikely to strike down the entire Obamacare healthcare law, in a legal challenge brought by Texas and other Republican-governed states and backed by Donald Trump’s administration.

The justices heard about two hours of arguments by teleconference this morning in an appeal by a coalition of Democratic-governed states including California and New York and the Democratic-led House of Representatives to preserve the Affordable Care Act (ACA), as Obamacare is formally known.

Chief Justice John Roberts and fellow conservative Brett Kavanaugh both asked questions that suggested they were skeptical of Republican arguments that all of Obamacare must fall even if one key provision, known as the individual mandate, is found to be unconstitutional. That provision originally required people to obtain insurance or pay a financial penalty, Reuters writes.

“It’s hard for you to argue that Congress intended the entire Act to fall if the mandate was struck down,” Roberts said, noting that Congress did not repeal the entire law in 2017 when it eliminated the mandate’s financial penalty.
