Trump jr implying that the timing of the announcement of vaccine is dodgy.
He assumes that everyone is a crooked as his family

@BruceAndNosh

Trump jr implying that the timing of the announcement of vaccine is dodgy. He assumes that everyone is a crooked as his family
How does he explain that the Russian vaccine isn't further on then?
gwenneh · 09/11/2020 17:38

Pfizer announced AGES ago they were going to wait until after the election. It was all over the news, but I suppose not in the hand-picked sources Jr. reads.

Apileofballyhoo · 09/11/2020 17:38

Watched Biden too. He was excellent.

DH listened to some of Mary Trump's book but he had to stop because he found it too upsetting due to similarities between the Trumps and his own family. Narcissism, scapegoats, golden children, addictions, lies, abuse and so on.

I read an article on Ivana Trump's book called Raising Trump or something similar. When Don Jr was born Ivana wanted to call him Donald and Donald's response was to ask 'what if he's a loser?'... I think Fred Jr was the loser and Donald the golden child, but seems to me Donald may also have been terrified of losing his position and becoming the loser. I think DH said Donald used to take Fred's toys and hide them and then Fred would be the one to get in trouble.

Very sad, all of it.

Zixxy · 09/11/2020 17:42

I came across this today. Very moving to me anyway, you might be interested in watching it.

The contrast between then and now is unreal. It is so moving, and the professionalism of President and VP is a sight to behold.

Welcome Joe, you will do a good job friend.

Trump has fired the Defence Secretary Mark Esper.

I hope this isn’t the start of him making deliberately bad decisions to make things worse for Biden in January

Jonathan Swan of Axios says Trump is talking about running again in 2024.

I read Mary Trumps book and the way her father was treated 😢. That family is beyond dysfunctional and it’s seeped down to Donald’s family.

They withdrew healthcare from Mary’s bit of the family even though her baby nephew was severely ill.

I warned people, Trump can be revengeful. Even to Americans. Hopefully, they will stop him from doing any further harm
Phoenix21 · 09/11/2020 18:24

I don’t think Trump managed 1 inspirational calming speech in 4 years. Biden has done how many now?

In any case I’m going to stop comparing as Trump is last weeks news. Just the remnants remain

Blueberries0112 · 09/11/2020 18:25
@JamieLeeCurtains I looked up what my meds would cost in the US: $3500 per month, but the NHS provides them to me for free - chronic lifelong condition so I don't have to pay the prescription charge.

How anyone can say that the Affordable Care Act is bad is beyond me.
How much taxes you pay that cover these things?

Copperas · 09/11/2020 18:28

We have a national insurance system

Lweji · 09/11/2020 18:30

Trump still needs to live in the US. Maybe...

One of the first celebratory shows. John Oliver here

Looking forward to tonight's (tomorrow) Colbert.

Zixxy · 09/11/2020 18:30

I don't know about the Trump family dynamics, so making some assumptions here. The narcissistic parent will favour the golden child (maybe Ivanka) and alienate and pit the rest of the kids against each other. Yep.

Textbook.

Zixxy · 09/11/2020 18:31

@Copperas

We have a national insurance system
That is Socialism, you can't say that to Americans, shoo.

LOL.

chomalungma · 09/11/2020 18:33

How much taxes you pay that cover these things

It's funded by Government. Taxes vary as does the National Insurance contributions.

People don't need to worry about expensive bills when they go to see a doctor or have medical treatment.

There are issues of course with the NHS - but the principle is free at the point of use.

PullTheBricksDown · 09/11/2020 18:37

@derxa

I finally feel like a weight has been lifted off the world's shoulders
Don't know if anyone else here is asthmatic, but for me it's like the feeling when you're breathless but then you use your inhaler and get the relief of being able to breathe deeply and freely again.
gwenneh · 09/11/2020 18:37

How much taxes you pay that cover these things?

Far less than I pay in the US, for which I get fuck-all in terms of medical care. I have great insurance, but that's on TOP of the higher US taxes.

DuncinToffee · 09/11/2020 18:37

Lewis Goodall @lewis_goodall

Biden's leads updated:

Arizona: 16,976
Georgia: 10,676
Nevada: 36,186
Pennsylvania: 45,595

Holding steady or growing in all four states. AZ has come down a bit since yesterday but looks to be beyond Trump's reach. Recount in GA looks futile. V likely Biden wins 306.

PullTheBricksDown · 09/11/2020 18:40

And that would be my inhaler which I get by way of my National Insurance and for which I pay £10.60 a month via a prescription prepayment certificate and get all the prescribed medication I ever need. But, you know, evil socialism!

JamieLeeCurtains · 09/11/2020 18:44

I've paid National Insurance for nearly 40 years. A few ££ a week. Worth every penny. I'd pay another £1 a week if asked, to protect the NHS being free at the point of delivery.

It's not really a radical idea in the UK. Hard sell in the US though, I appreciate that.

I hope they capitalise on that moment as much as they can; it's like a lottery win for their staff.
