YABU because, Yes Daddy is a catch phrase or something that I’ve missed? And not at all offensive.

YANBU
To complain to amazon to get rid of the whole yes daddy range.

I’m trying to understand why someone would make or wear these.

It kind of suggests BDSM-type relationships to me. I know some women call their partners daddy though. Yeah, I find it gross, but I find a lot of things people do consensually behind closed doors gross. As long as it stays there it's their business.

Lockheart · 07/11/2020 15:11

@Italiangreyhound

Lockheart the website is public.
Sure, like most websites. Including those who sell much more fetishy things than this.

An individual buying them though isn't advertising anything or sharing their fetish in public as lots of posters on this thread seem to be implying.

OneTC · 07/11/2020 15:16

I slept with someone once and they said it and I asked them not to cos nope

It is just other people's underwear though Hmm

Another one finding it weird. It's fairly traditional for parents to call themselves mum/dad (mostly as in "tell your dad it's time to come in") or ref songs eg "daddy cool".
but people actually have sex calling their partner "daddy" or wearing these knickers? Are there any knickers with "Yes Mummy" on them? Not only is it intrinsically submissive but surely most people can see the paedophile meme going on?

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 07/11/2020 15:24

I thought you were over reacting until I saw the picture of the man's hand on her throat and now I feel a bit disturbed by it all...😧

Italiangreyhound · 07/11/2020 15:27

Lockheart the OP was asking if they are unreasonable "...To complain to amazon to get rid of the whole yes daddy range."

I think they are not being unreasonable to ask a major retailer not to offer items that people may consider offensive.

The retailer may well ignore that request.

But the OP is not being unreasonable to call out Amazon on selling shit like this.

The fact other retailers may be selling other offensive stuff elsewhere doesn't mean individual members of the public can't or won't have opinions on this stuff.

Considering how big an issue child sex abuse is in our society, I find these kind of things really repulsive. It's OK to say that.

Italiangreyhound · 07/11/2020 15:30

BatleyTownswomensGuild that's what this kind of post and information does, it makes people think.

Sometimes they realise a lot of stuff we accept as 'normal' or 'OK' really is not.

amusedbush · 07/11/2020 15:35

I have a few friends active in the kink community (I'm not - I'm very boring Grin) and this is linked to that, as pp have said. Some have a fetish for being a "bratty sub" and will call their dom "daddy" during role play.

The whole point of a kink is that it's taboo. I wouldn't do it but it's a personal choice.

picklemewalnuts · 07/11/2020 15:38

Selling stuff in a sex shop is one thing. Selling it as normal clothing in a mainstream retailer- no.

MysweetAudrina · 07/11/2020 15:43

Hot Mama
Sexy baby
Who's yo Daddy?

All fairly mainstream. People can wear what they like as their underwear.

nosswith · 07/11/2020 15:45

I am a man and seeing that were a woman undressing in front of me would be a form of contraception.

Hailtomyteeth · 07/11/2020 15:52

Can we really impose our opinions on other people's fantasies?
Doesn't that suggest we are really uptight, that our knickers (our twee 'judgey pants') have been hoisted so far up the crack that we've lost all sensation?
On the other hand, I want the normalisation of choking to end.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 07/11/2020 16:05

What exactly were you searching for, OP?

I agree with Hailtomyteeth about choking being something to eradicate forever. I think that banging on about logos on knickers diminishes the effectiveness of genuine grounds for complaint.

This is not your business; it's nobody's business to tell fully consenting adults what they can and can't do/wear. The word 'grim' is really overused too.

SomewhereEast · 07/11/2020 16:06

I don't think there's necessarily any correlation at all between women liking dom/sub stuff sexually and them being submissive in other contexts...and I'm saying this as someone who grew up with a stepfather who was emotionally/ physically very abusive towards my mother, so I'm personally quite sensitive about things like that. I just accept my sensitivity isn't everyone's. So ya its not my thing, but so are other sexual things consenting people do. shrug
converseandjeans · 07/11/2020 16:12

I think it's a bit gross. Especially the hand on the neck. Men are getting away with 'manslaughter' on the basis it was foul play due to an asphyxiation sex play gone wrong. So anything which glamourises asphyxiation is bad imo.

diddl · 07/11/2020 16:37

Reminds me of these lyrics from Bruce Springsteen

"Hey little girl, is your daddy home?
Did he go away and leave you all alone? Mhmm
I got a bad desire
Oh oh oh, I'm on fire
Tell me now, baby, is he good to you?
And can he do to you the things that I do? Oh no
I can take you higher
Oh oh oh, I'm on fire"

NiceGerbil · 07/11/2020 16:42

Loads of people say they enjoy being throttled a bit on a fun sexy way though.

Everyone has different lines.

I don't think fun sexy throttling or fun sexy referencing father/ daughter are great.

The word baby seems different to be as babies don't tend to be active players in abuse what with being babies.

And calling someone a baby is infantilising. It's so common though for both men and women that probably that association has gone.

Same as calling someone daddy as a sex thing looks like it's getting that way.

I still think it's grim.

The hands round throat as a fun sexy pretty vanilla actually activity is also being normalised tbh.

Just the way things are going.

Newmumatlast · 07/11/2020 16:44

Tbh i do think its grim

Lou98 · 07/11/2020 16:54

Why complain and report to Amazon just because you don't personally like it? That's ridiculous, people want to report everything these days!

They're not something I would wear but people must buy them or why would they sell them so of course some people like them.

Amazon also do a full range of sex toys, sex clothes, bondage etc. Should they get rid of all of that because you personally don't like it? 🙄

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 07/11/2020 16:57

"Kink-shaming" is hilarious 🤣 the bloke that runs Rebelfit was recently shamed and bullied into apologising for "kink shaming" and I was surprised. I didn't think he was the type to be pushed around by people like that. 'Pervert' will soon be a protected characteristic!

donquixotedelamancha · 07/11/2020 17:00

who has slogans on their pants anyway? Or am I just boring?

There is a pretty good business opportunity in there somewhere:

Louiselouie0890 · 07/11/2020 17:11

Definitely not my thing but I can't see why they should take it down

Itsasecret85 · 07/11/2020 17:14

Because its a sexual thing and some people might like that in their sex life. Just like some people like double ended dildos

NiceGerbil · 07/11/2020 17:56

Poster on MN said they objected to some knickers (backless) being called school girl knickers on love honey.

Mixed views about ok or not.

Any she mailed them and they said ok yeah that's not great. We'll change any products we do which are called schoolgirl to something less grim.

I think it's different with Amazon as they're just s marketplace.

But in general I think that if people have views about this they should be allowed to air them and if they want to complain do so.

I never thought I'd become a bit like Mary Whitehouse when I got older but there were are Smile I also hate the way do many TV shows esp USA use sexual violence as titillation etc. That's just how I feel.
