@showmethegin sorry for your loss. ThanksI had 4 miscarriages so I understand your pain. Two girls now though. One is 21 on Tuesday

DeRigueurMortis · 07/11/2020 04:00

Well that was great from Biden I think - struck all the right notes

lovelemoncurd · 07/11/2020 04:03

Im not able to watch. What else was said?

Minimammoth · 07/11/2020 04:04

Good speech. I was touched by his sincerity, such a contrast to the orange asshole.

lyralalala · 07/11/2020 04:05

He talked about Covid and the need to get into action.

Said that they could never get back the people who had died, and sympathised with the people who had lost, but said they need to save as many lives as possible going forward.

Pointed out that a ballot isn't just a ballot; it's a person's part in the election.

BlueCatRedCat · 07/11/2020 04:06
@BlueCatRedCat I really agree. We were sitting in Greece in the middle of a tropical cyclone when we heard RBG had died. DP said to me "your favourite woman in the world has died". She has changed the world, for all of us. I am a total atheist but I hope she's up there watching this ❤️❤️❤️
Me too, total non believer in religion, but I do hope she and the others somehow "know". To be honest, they were such big hearted people, visionaries and patriots, and they probably did know that eventually, the country would recover, and that America is more than one lunatic man.

lovelemoncurd · 07/11/2020 04:10

@lyralalala thank you. What a contrast to Trumps speeches!

showmethegin · 07/11/2020 04:11

Thanks you @lovelemoncurd ❤️

lyralalala · 07/11/2020 04:11

Trump's Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, has tested positive for Covid

showmethegin · 07/11/2020 04:12

NOOOOO

lyralalala · 07/11/2020 04:12
@lyralalala thank you. What a contrast to Trumps speeches!
There was loads more to it, they were just the bits I could think of off the top of my head.

It was a great speech.

showmethegin · 07/11/2020 04:13

Could we find out now whether trump had it all before? Surely he couldn't get it twice? 😏

showmethegin · 07/11/2020 04:14

It feels so weird to see someone who could be president talking coherently, that's how far the bar was lowered with trump. How refreshing

BlueCatRedCat · 07/11/2020 04:15

Hope I am remembering this right:

He was definitive, and pleased that he would win, but not crowing and triumphant like Trump would have been. Rather, he was proud about what the country has achieved.

He said he knew it was gruelling waiting for the results, and gave a sweet knowing smile when he said it. But, that this is democracy, and that every vote is a person exercising democratic their right, so we need to let the process happen and be patient.

He said he and Kamala are already getting to work, coming up with plans to deal with Covid and get the economy out of the hole. He expressed sadness for those who have died.

He said that politics is not about being in a constant state of partisan warfare. That disagreements over politics are healthy and a sign of democracy, but ultimately, we need to come together to get things done, and that's what he intends to do, bring people together.

lyralalala · 07/11/2020 04:15

I wonder if the Biden camp had got wind of that

The contrast between "We must get this pandemic under control" from Biden and the fact that Trump's team can't even get it under control in the White House is massive.

showmethegin · 07/11/2020 04:17

Wow @BlueCatRedCat I think you capture what he said perfectly

showmethegin · 07/11/2020 04:17

*captured

BlueCatRedCat · 07/11/2020 04:18

Oh, he said he was pleased to have the "Blue Wall" back, and called them the heart of America.

BruceAndNosh · 07/11/2020 04:19

@lyralalala

Trump's Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, has tested positive for Covid
Nah he hasn't. It's just his excuse to avoid the White House and its incumbent for the next 2 weeks....
lyralalala · 07/11/2020 04:19

Cracking summary @BlueCatRedCat

Nancydrawn · 07/11/2020 04:23

It was so strange to hear: human, thoughtful, firm, patient. He was clearly tired (his stutter is more pronounced when he is, so he takes longer over words), but he was resolute, and it got stronger as it went on. I can't believe those of us living in the States are going to have a president like this again. I was overwhelmed.

bettybeans · 07/11/2020 04:23

Gosh, he was refreshing. No mad rambling or threats. A mood of conciliation and order.

BlueCatRedCat · 07/11/2020 04:26

Aw cheers Showmethegin . Everything you said on the previous page was so right. I too came to MN also looking for help (PND in my case) and ended up a radicalised feminist! So happy to be able to learn from such incredibly informative posters on here.

lovelemoncurd · 07/11/2020 04:28

I can't quite believe I'm so into this election. I don't even live in the states! I live in the UK. Our cousins live in the USA though. What does Boris think of his mate going I wonder?

showmethegin · 07/11/2020 04:31

@BlueCatRedCat ❤️ doesn't it feel great to find your people. Xx
