A little on what happens next (especially for the British).
The winner of the election although called by the press isn't officially recognised until 14th December when the Electoral College meet to case their electoral college votes formally.
Typically Electoral College votes follow the results of the public ballot but they don't have to. There have been occasions when they have gone against the public vote in some states - faithless electors. This did actually happen in 2016 (both for Clinton and Trump) but didn't change the result.
This isn't something that should be thought of as a serious threat this time around. Especially with how Trump is behaving. Biden is likely to have a comfortable enough margin of victory to avoid it being a problem even if it does happen. (And there are also ways to challenge this legally too - in 2016 several faithless votes were successfully overturned and the ones that stood were against Trump's favour by Republicans).
No doubt Trump will try and pull something to win via this route, but this would pretty much guarentee civil war if he were to pull it off. Its extremely unlikely simply for that reason.
Congress then meet on 6th January to certify the result and the winner.
Again in theory Congress could potentially block Biden's formal recognition. But again you are pretty much into civil war ground if that were to happen. For all the support Trump has Republican Congressmen won't do this in sufficient numbers (infact from the few who have already spoken up about the integrity of election, its definitely a closed door because of the numbers that would be needed. And the more Trump carries on the more Republicans will come out against him)
Then Biden will be inaugurated on 20th January.
So next week will be when all the votes are counted, and Trump's tantruming about these results can only continue until 14th December before he's told to bluntly fuck off.
There may still be vexacious legal challenges after this but at this point he will be on a complete hiding to nothing. There is no way the Supreme Court is going to rule in his favour at thispoint (in the unlikely event a case ever reaches them) because again - civil war.
I think his tantruming (and perhaps more importantly that of his associates) strays into formal treasonous behaviour if they include inciting violence from the 6th January when Congress sign things off in law.
We could see trouble at each of these crucial dates and associated with the 5th January double senate run off in Georgia which will decide who controls the senate. Its unlikely the democrats will get both they seats they need to tie the senate but it depends on what turnout is like - if Trump delegitimises elections in the eyes of his voters enough, it could spring a surprise. Hardliners are more likely to cause trouble.
At some point Trump has to give up and conceed defeat, run out of lawyers willing to back him / courts willing to hear a case or verge into illegality.
I think looking out for Trump (and his family) leaving the country for any reason at all is also something to look out for.
What is more likely is what shit Trump tries to pull particularly with executive orders before 20th January. The possibility remains that he will still act like a wrecking ball against as much of the state as possible. (This largely can be reversed after the 20th but not without potential chaos in the interrim depending on how many toys are thrown out of the pram).
However the 'checks and balances' of the American Constitution are now swinging back into full effect despite Trump's efforts to undermine them and he's run out of time to do anything more to stay in power. The only thing he can do is destablise the country and incite violence. And even then he can only do that for so long.
Just have to wait now.
Game Over.
Trump is a loser.
