@BlueCatRedCat

Hope I am remembering this right:

He was definitive, and pleased that he would win, but not crowing and triumphant like Trump would have been. Rather, he was proud about what the country has achieved.

He said he knew it was gruelling waiting for the results, and gave a sweet knowing smile when he said it. But, that this is democracy, and that every vote is a person exercising democratic their right, so we need to let the process happen and be patient.

He said he and Kamala are already getting to work, coming up with plans to deal with Covid and get the economy out of the hole. He expressed sadness for those who have died.

He said that politics is not about being in a constant state of partisan warfare. That disagreements over politics are healthy and a sign of democracy, but ultimately, we need to come together to get things done, and that's what he intends to do, bring people together.

Great post, nice to read

@middleager

Morning, feels like Groundhog Day, I'm so impatient!
Yup.

CaveMum · 07/11/2020 07:25

Morning all, Groundhog Day is a great analogy!

The White House sounds like it’s going to implode, or at least the West Wing might. The BBC were already reporting yesterday that a lot of staffers hadn’t turned up for work - what’s the betting a number of them now claim “COVID” as a reason not to come in!

BillBaileysPasoFace · 07/11/2020 07:32

I've just been out into the garden, watching a beautiful calm pink dawn. It feels very symbolic.

StartupRepair · 07/11/2020 07:36

Biden's speech was so calm and inclusive.

VeryLittleOwl · 07/11/2020 07:39

DH and I were saying last night, isn't it lovely to think we're going to have a grown-up back in charge in America?

MarshaBradyo · 07/11/2020 07:43

It’ll be so nice not to have someone riling people up with manipulation and blasting fake news all day

Igotjelly · 07/11/2020 07:44

I just read somewhere that they expect Biden to have the most diverse cabinet ever. Feels like a wonderful middle finger to Trump!

Lweji · 07/11/2020 07:46

I'm looking forward to hearing Fauci at WH pressers.

I'm starting to imagine who he'll get for his cabinet.
Too soon?

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 07/11/2020 07:49

Here's a link to the full Biden speech, if anyone wants it. [[

Agree with those who watched him live, what a joy it is to hear a unifying, calming, Presidential voice speak after the past 4 years of turmoil. Smile I'm starting to feel more optimistic now. I really do hope his confidence in his EV win will be justified.

@Lweji BBC reporting they’re focusing on key West Wing staff right now but will start looking at Cabinet positions after Thanksgiving.

Morning all !

@showmethegin What a moving post from you Flowers

@AskingQuestionsAllTheTime
You are the proud owner of McNinny, my brain is befuddled, I know we adopted it straightaway and you will be pleased to hear I have even moved it on to Twitter in some of my tweets about her!

We need to make it worldwide! Grin

Thanks lionheart you’ve been a trooper keeping the threads going through the slightly “quieter” times
I agree. No time has been ever so quiet so I think of it as mad times and even more mad times Smile

So Mark Meadows has tested positive and after Trump's wrongly called victory speech Tuesday/Wednesday he was in close contact with all Trump's family without a mask, there's footage showing him with Javanka, neither of who were masked.
It's probably all Trump needs now, he'll be furious with Meadows, no concern for his health of course, just angry

Trump's not gone yet whatever the result. Post election purge has begun www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2020/11/06/bonnie-glick-fired-trump-post-election-purge/
MarshaBradyo · 07/11/2020 08:16

Love that people are talking about what President Biden will want to do

Trump must loathe it when conversation is no longer on him

HoldingTight · 07/11/2020 08:17

That speech 💕 Made me quite emotional. How refreshing to have a grownup in charge again.

This site is quite good for updates: alex.github.io/nyt-2020-election-scraper/battleground-state-changes.html

lionheart · 07/11/2020 08:29

x posted lovelemoncurd.

CNN talking about the quandry of not calling the victory for Biden until the count is done even though the outcome is obvious. The waiting feeds the conspiracy theorists.

@showmethegin Flowers I came here when I was struggling with infertility too.

I have ended up a mum and a gender critical feminist! Yesterday I got to explain to my son (in simple terms, he’s only 7) about what’s happening in America. He’s delighted ‘can Joe Biden be president here too mummy?’.

I hope you get your miracle too Flowers

anon444877 · 07/11/2020 08:35

Has anyone seen the new Borat film? I was reluctant as didn't find the first that funny but oh my goodness, hilarious (if you generally find Cohen funny)

Roominmyhouse · 07/11/2020 08:37

Another morning and still no result. Argh!

I was watching the last leg last night. Richard Osmond made an interesting and scary point. If trump steps down as president then Mike Pence will take over and get the presidential pardon ability trump would have had. And then can pardon trump so he’ll essentially get away with all the dodgy stuff he’s ever done. FFS! I cannot wait to see the back of those hideous human beings.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 07/11/2020 08:38

It may not be called yet but it’s going to happen.
